And so another quest began...

Another night, Trevor decided to try to contact some unknown spirits to navigate his way toward knowledge of the magic aforementioned. He drew up the ceremonial circle and reached out with his brains. Don't leave the body yet, just speak to them from afar. Ask questions first and shoot later.

Into the void Trevor's voice called.
Trevor's Spirit Voice - "Greetings from the mortal realm! If you are listening and have knowledge about the subject of transubstantiation as it relates to your world, speak to me as you like. I'm open to any insight."

Voices distant and near, overlaid, mumbling, begging, laughing... A shark descended from a vast cloud of its kin to circle the room invisibly. Two other spirits tried to visit but it scared them off with a whip of the head.Shark- "What precisely do you seek, frail monster?"

Everything Trevor hears is taken with its own grain of salt. There were enough spirits that enjoyed playing around, fooling trusting souls, and lying serially, while others enjoyed the exchange of intelligence as much as Rat, and to an extent, Miss Bunny. Time to see where this shark fell in the spectrum.
Trevor - "I heard this terminology used recently by a friend. He used it to describe the conversion of a mortal being's form into something entirely spirit. I'm curious about how this is achieved, the dangers involved, and how to undo the process. As I said, any insight is welcome."

Shark- "I remember something of this, these words from my past... Why do I remember? Can you tell me?"

Trevor - "I wish I could be of more help to you, but I don't know the answer to that. My apologies. On the other hand, have you ever encountered women by names of Inca or Florence Lepponen?"

Shark- "No... But you have spirit eyes. Sometimes a mortal with the right eyes can see more of the truth than a spirit. Do you see me?" The shark was about ten feet long and mostly slim in profile, swimming a tight slow circle in the room, sometimes dipping in and out of walls.

Trevor concentrates in an attempt to see something useful.

He saw something he hasn't seen since Torraighn took him out the first time. The constituent elements of the spirit. Symbols on symbols. The dominant symbol was shark - this shark represented sharkness with respectable power. There were other flavors as well - tragic love, dissolved humanity, a kernel of magic power.

Trevor - "I don't mean to offend, but I see something human in you. Have you perhaps been to the mortal world?"

The shark twitched in place, shocked. It doubled over on itself, and landed on the floor as an elderly native Sealandian man with extensive tattoos, pale dead skin, and shark teeth. The old manshark turned in place, and drew itself up to a sitting position mirroring Trevor's.Manshark- "Your words spoke to me because I once made that transformation. I had a reason I no longer remember."

Trevor - "I see. Then it's possible to forget one's old self post transformation. That said, you seem to remember things as a human now. Did you try this with a guide, or were you alone?"

The manshark's form rippled. It was still mostly a shark, but in focusing on its human past, was - for the moment - humanish.Manshark- "... I think I used my own power, together with the hand of a god."

That mentioning of a divinity gave Trevor pause for Inka related reasons.
Trevor - "What else are you able to remember? Do you still not know why you experimented with your form?"
