It was apparent staying in the spirit realm while transformed for a long duration could partially erase the former incarnation. How long that was exactly couldn't be known without further research.
If Inka was intending on using this method then she had enough gods to assist, and wouldn't feel remorse for any sacrifice.

Then he remembered that rituals could be completed in advance if there was only one step left, like magic words or a position to enter. But magic that powerful probably needed a physical object as a last component - functionally a single use magic item. Hm... Would he call the spirits again, or talk with someone, or what?

Going with the recent method might mean more exhaustive waiting for a reliable source. Trevor wouldn't believe he'd get lucky as last time.

Instead of chasing down those kinds of things, he contented himself collaborating with Rat to find the most useful spells against spirit Inkas and bullets.
Besides designing a magic "burrow" which acts as a maze to confuse scryers, a stronger version could be summoned to hide inside by using a spell word. In this case it might be something like おいで or similar. It wouldn't deflect things like some super cheat, but it would temporarily confuse enemies senses, greatly obscuring scents, sounds, etc. inside...
