The moonlight was clear and laser-crisp white on the black and
endless water. Motorcycle noises sounded, vampires stripped to
shorts, and things became more lively.
He ran into the cold Glennish water glad he couldn't feel the cold
like he used to. He was wearing board shorts with the Antearctan
flag plastered over them. Anty pride yo!
Anselm left his bike semi-toppled in the sand and
likewise tossed his helmet into a dune in his eagerness to join the others.
He stripped down to what might have just been dark colored underwear
but was hard to determine. But he didn't forget the cool shades, no doubt. He
scrambled after the others, doing a double take at the wide expanse of ocean.
August stood in the water up to his waist, the waves crashing against him.
For sure, being in the water as a vampire was a different feel, your body
both more buoyant for being lighter, and without the lift of lungs full of
air unless you went out of your way to fill 'em up.
Anselm came to the edge of the water and clenched his fists in preparation.
Then he was distracted by Tristan's approach.
He stepped into the water, and was almost pushed over by a
flimsy wave. He slogged his way toward August with a wild-eyed look.
Anselm caught on that guy's arm and stared around at the
world like everything was too gotdam magical and distracting.
August sent a large splash of salty water towards the pair.
Anselm nearly went flying to avoid the water, skidding around on the
wet sand. Tristan blocked some of the water and kept a grip on Anselm.
He swiped a pathetic splash of water at August. Tristan didn't help
much, just taking his amusement where it was at the moment.
Anselm gave it another go, hefting a more moderate dousing of water
at August. Did he just use supernatural powers to assist with that?!
August pushed a small wave of water towards them, he'd had a lot
more practise. It wasn't too big though but doused the two of them
squarely. Them guys got dunked! Anselm nearly lost his cool shades.
The waters became less Hoddish as he trudged to shore,
leaving Anselm to root himself however he could.
August checked out those waves with hopeful eyes.
The night wasn't gonna go right without them.
Anselm walked over to August with his arms outstretched,
not for a hug but an exaggerated attempt to keep his balance.
The waves were a bit tepid, but looked like there might be
something good brewing in the distance.
Before August could do too much calculation, a cloud of bugs
swarmed around him. They morphed into the shape of
a bikini-ed lady who wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
August almost jumped right out of his skin at Janice's sudden appearance.
It was one thing to hear about it but another to see the swarm. He was glad
he only changed into one animal, being so many would be too confusing.
Anselm staggered up to her and held her arm for dear life.
August made his way back onto the beach, kicking away stray bits of seaweed as he went.
Jan and Anselm followed him in, and with that the waters were empty...
endless water. Motorcycle noises sounded, vampires stripped to
shorts, and things became more lively.
"BOMBAROO! BEACH TIME!!"
Anselm-
"Oh man! Wow... Zo big..."
Anselm-
"Huh huh, zomeone zay it about a pehn-iss."
August stood in the water up to his waist, the waves crashing against him.
"It does have a lot of heheh SEA men."
"Come on in! Get ya feet wet! Pretend ya in a scene from Bomba
Nights. Like ' Oh Larry! Me love for ya is like an ocean' and Larry's
all ' Ya mean wet?' and everyone laughs. It's a classic. I reckon
they're standing in the ocean at least once an episode."
Tristan was down to a skimpy continental
bottom in a silky-looking magenta-ish color.
He hustled to the water.
Tristan-
"Wowee, it's so crazzy! I means, like, look
at this? Black like oils slick and cold as ice!"
Anselm-
"..."
Anselm-
"Oh-- oh yeah, uh, vhat to do? Just... valking in?"
He stepped into the water, and was almost pushed over by a
flimsy wave. He slogged his way toward August with a wild-eyed look.
"Grab onto me or Tris if ya want, Ans. Just till ya get used to it.
Usually ya can see ya feet underneath. If ya looked real close it
felt like ya were slipping backwards in the water. I wonder how
many fish are around?"
"Oooh! Lawdamimbo! I think I feel one!"
"Darn. Nope. Seaweed."
Anselm-
"So veird, vater pushes you away! I go in a lake sometime,
but it don't move... and roaring... Yikes..."
Anselm-
"Ooh yes, I should grab a boy. But who to grab? It's too hard to decide."
Tristan-
"We can monotreme seal for rill this times!"
Tristan-
"Hold this guy, it is easy because I am strong."
"Yeah! We're Monotreme seals in the sea! Though
they mostly lie on rocks or chase other animals."
"Heh Dragomir show off!"
"Can a Dragomir boogie board? Or make shadow bunnies?"
Anselm caught on that guy's arm and stared around at the
world like everything was too gotdam magical and distracting.
Anselm-
"Oooh it's so vild, air is so salty vith dead fish
and pushing vater... it makes big vaves for surfing?
I go crazy soon, or moreso. Wow..."
Tristan-
"Oh yeah, I does those things for all the time..."
Tristan-
"Yeah it's pratty unteresting, I guass?"
"Pfft! Ya nuff nuff. Just saying it ain't as cool as the dance is."
"Think quick, ya varmints."
August sent a large splash of salty water towards the pair.
Anselm nearly went flying to avoid the water, skidding around on the
wet sand. Tristan blocked some of the water and kept a grip on Anselm.
Anselm- Tristan-
"Yah!" "I has you!"
Anselm-
"Oh ho ho, it's zo cool, huh? Take it!" Tristan-
"Now you're gonna gat it!"
He swiped a pathetic splash of water at August. Tristan didn't help
much, just taking his amusement where it was at the moment.
"Come on, give it another go with some gusto."
Anselm gave it another go, hefting a more moderate dousing of water
at August. Did he just use supernatural powers to assist with that?!
Anselm-
"Ha, he's trying to kill us vith giant
ocean vaves. He must be stopped." Tristan-
"I just think, why do you tell me
to leave motorcykel at home because
sands, then crash your one in sands?"
"I dunno. Ans is a man of mystery. He could not resist the pull
of the sand dunes and they took him in like a babe to it's momma.
Maybe you could seek ya revenge via sea water?"
" I'm gonna kill ya both deader than dead with me killer
wave skills. Brace ya selves for Wave-cano 2: the drenching."
August pushed a small wave of water towards them, he'd had a lot
more practise. It wasn't too big though but doused the two of them
squarely. Them guys got dunked! Anselm nearly lost his cool shades.
Anselm- Tristan-
"Bleh! Ocean tastes like "Maybe I do see what's in water."
dirty fish sweat!"
Anselm-
"Ha, I don't mean to crash bike,
but I do alvays. At least it's on
soft sand and not hard cement
again!"
Anselm-
"Hum, is it big enough vaves
for surfing yet? Do vee stir up Tristan-
enough vater?" "No revanges down there,
but is pratty good slimes.
I'm going back until boogie
time, funny dudes."
The waters became less Hoddish as he trudged to shore,
leaving Anselm to root himself however he could.
"Have ya had lessons cause that bike ain't easy to read.
I saw ya scratched it a little the other day... I wasn't you. "
"Hehehe the ocean don't work like that. Though I kinda wish it did. "
August checked out those waves with hopeful eyes.
The night wasn't gonna go right without them.
Anselm walked over to August with his arms outstretched,
not for a hug but an exaggerated attempt to keep his balance.
Anselm-
"Man, so veird... I don't know
if fish touch my feet."
The waves were a bit tepid, but looked like there might be
something good brewing in the distance.
Before August could do too much calculation, a cloud of bugs
swarmed around him. They morphed into the shape of
a bikini-ed lady who wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
Janice-
"Heyyyyy guys, looked like
you might be drowning.
Lifeguard Janice is on duty!"
"It's okay most fish only eat ya dead flesh and I don't reckon ya
would be too appetising to a croc. They don't have em up here anyhow."
August almost jumped right out of his skin at Janice's sudden appearance.
It was one thing to hear about it but another to see the swarm. He was glad
he only changed into one animal, being so many would be too confusing.
"Lawdamimbo! Where'd ya come from? I swim like a seal but I reckon
Ans might need saving heh. He hasn't found his sea legs if ya know
what I mean. He's a duck in a hurricane and it ain't even stormy."
"Love ya tatts! Marker again?"
Anselm staggered up to her and held her arm for dear life.
Janice-
"That's right! I better not get too wet--
Uh huh huh huh--"
Anselm-
"Everyone comes already?"
Janice-
"Huh huh-- okay. Uh, yeah, the gang's all here!
Well, our crew anyway. Plus some human babes
you probably remember. Anyone coming that
I don't already know?"
Anselm-
"Yeah I hear odher humans
coming I don't know."
"I dunno who ya have and haven't met. There's Dazza's human mates.
Jeannie is real sugar. There's me new costumer and her mates."{Originally}
Oh!
Have ya met Eli? He used to work with us. He's a swimmer dude so
he'll be all up in. Like a dolphin man. "
Janice-
"Gonna be a hawt party, I can tell."
Anselm-{Originally}"I know Elly. I don't remember if I met him yet.
I'm very excite,
August vill teach me to ride on
a surfboard."
Janice-
"I'm not as up on the maritime thang, but I love to spectate.
Gonna work on my moon-tan and watch you boys work it.
This shit is so wild, you're awesome, August.
We love a party but don't do it up like this much."
Anselm-
"Vee go on a mountain trip sometimes
but it gets boring. Just like Reckenburg
but taller and cold."
Janice-
"Yeah, when you can hang out on top of skyscrapers
it loses some of its wow factor."
"Shootfire! Between the three of us we
can make any party hot as all get out!"
"Ya welcome! It was really Ans, he told me he'd never been
to a beach and that's just the saddest darn thing. I had to
rectify ya know? It's like not ever having a barbie or shooting
a gun. Ya just haven't lived until ya do? Ya know?"
"The bombaroo thing about surfing is if ya don't like that
or it ain't ya thing. Then just boogie board ya night away.
Anselm-
"Hahaha, vee going
to make it hot." Janice-
"You know it! Speaking of hot, heard talk
that there's gonna be some bonfires.
I'll be into as long as people get naked and
Anselm- dance around it."
"You get your stuff
burned, ouch." Janice-
"Damn, guess it's just bikinis then. *siiiigh*
Wanna check it out until the waves get goin'
"Yeah! Let's burn stuff! I used to be nervous around bonfires when I was a kid cause me sister told me if ya play with fire ya wet ya bed. Well I tried it one night and it was complete bullhockey. Can ya believe it? Besides we're vampires. Ain't never gonna have no night time embarrassments."
August made his way back onto the beach, kicking away stray bits of seaweed as he went.
Jan and Anselm followed him in, and with that the waters were empty...
