Do I need to post my goals before the month starts? Perhaps I can make a blogging goal for myself. I still have to do Sri Lanka and Nepal, have some "Flat Stanley" stuff for a friend of Marissa's mother that is a school teacher (actually Paisley the Panda), and then the blogging for this current two+ week rip. It could add up to a lot. Can I credit myself 1000 words for each photo that I edit and publish? ;-)

I'm going to be doing the same thing as last year where I don't care about word count, but I'm feeling more confident this year! My specific goals will be:
- Finish unfinished short stories! - Write more of the story collaboration I'm working on with my mom! - Finish the Spooktacular RPG!

C, u are gatherin flies... I think anything you guys wanna do is cool, I think a word count or page count would be a good idea though so it gives you a concrete goal which is easier to get done. Brett I think it would be fair to add words for pics if they are tough, maybe you could set a number of pictures you need to get done and then take it all off the end count. Or somethin'. Btw I was going to put up the count widget on the first post here. Anyone who posted their profile *not* want to be listed? I personally like it because I like competition. I can make it scale to yr personal goal too, if it's different than 50 k. Btw Brett, you might like this site: getyedone.com/ It gives you exp for accomplishing tasks IRL. I like leveling up because I responded to a boring email.

BUDDY'D! Also u are off to a good lead. K & I haven't written anything yet, unless u count required comments on accounts hastily rapped out in 30 second increments fifty plus times in my workday.

Buddy'd pt 2! I decided to put the widget on a new thread. Plz go there and state your intended goal for this month, and you can check the widget-meter as we progress.

I only made it so far in the first sprint because I already had part of my silly little YA fantasy written and set aside. I picked it up again for NaNo and realized I hated it...so I'm re-writing!

The rules of NaNoWriMo are adjudicated on the honor system and peeps break them all the time in different ways. Working an idea from before October is a rule I think we've all broken. Another that may be a good idea to take more seriously is "Do not edit as you go!" Let this first draft be hella rough. Never look back, never re-write.
That said, if you can do rewrites and still make the word count, there's nothing wrong with it, except whatever stress it adds.

I will forego the rewrite rule forever and ever and ever and ever and ever.
