Hellstar Remina could be his best thing evar, but fortunately he isn't the kind of artist to have one best-thing-ever alongside a mountain of garbage. There's other amazing stuff aplenty. Have you seen Flesh-colored Horror? That's more one of his silly gross-out stories, but it's great.

Yes, it was nasty! I watched a movie called 'Infestation' last night about giant bugs that had elements of Gyo in it. The concept was great but the delivery lacked, it was trying to be funny but a little too much but serious at the same time and some elements were just unbelievable and a little sexist. It was made 70% better when Ray Wise ( Leland) entered the scene though.

Is anyone else bothered by the recent return to vilifying witches? The first time I noticed it was the preview for the Nic Cage movie Season of the Witch (title?). The new Salem series on Fox is doing it as well and I'm pretty sure I've seen some other instances recently in film and maybe even a knockoff show that is coming on a different channel to compete with it.

I haven't heard of Salem, American horror story coven kinda villianised them kinda didn't. I guess it depends on if you look at them as the poor women/men in history burned for no reason or the mythical beings. Mythical beings don't bother me so much, it says more about an unreasonable fear of strong women. The Salem sounds sketchy, making the inquisition the good guys? Errgh… yuck.

@brett - I haven't seen it, but "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" can't be great, either. It is pretty damn annoying. When Lords of Salem was released, my Wiccan friend was really excited, because she thought it would be a cool "revenge against the Salem witchhunt assholes" movie ... and then we saw it together, and the witches were definitely villains! Some nice imagery but still disappointing.
Tl;dr - Yah, I'm bothered.

I forgot H&G: WH. That is probably one of the ones that was slipping my mind.

The Craft was mixed, but basically pro-witch at the end. You just had to be the kind of witch who works in harmony with the cosmos rather than throwin' hexes and winning lotteries in order to win, I guess. This other stuff isn't great. Women sure have strange roles in mythology and pop culture because of all the centuries of patriarchy, yo. These things inform the psychology of baby MRAs and the like.

Not sure if I've mentioned this before or not, but anyone that appreciates the work of Lovecraft should check out the film adaptations of the HP Lovecraft Historical Society. Their silent film of Call of Cthulhu and their "talkie" of the Whisperer in Darkness were exceptionally made. You can find them on a torrent site, but if you like them I would strongly suggest buying the DVD from their site, since they are a small organization that relies on these sales to fund their projects.
They also have a series called Dark Adventure Radio Theater, which are audio productions of Lovecraft works made in the form of early 20th century radio programs. I bought these but haven't listened to them yet.

I watched a movie called' Contracted' last night, lot's of body horror. The premise is zombism as a STD. The main character is a lesbian without being overly sexualised for it but I still had gripes. The girlfriend of course was all tatted and butch. The story line was a mess/ it was pretty student filmy and there was a rape to explain the STD. It felt too much like a daytime special on the dangers of lesbianism, even though I don't think it was the intention. I wasn't overly impressed.

{Salem review- possibly offensive to Christians}I watched Salem and wasn't impressed by it's villainising of women. It felt a bit like Christian propaganda to be honest, a strong vibe going on there. Like the first season of Charmed, made me wanna gag.

{Stuff about Contracted, possible rape triggers}Ugh, I saw that title on Netflix, and the description said "after a one night stand ..." and then I read reviews and learned that the woman was raped. It pissed me off so much that Netflix described rape as a "one night stand," I vowed to never watch the movie, and now I'm glad that I didn't!

{contracted}I once happened across the trailer for that shit, and while the makers were great at doing body horror, the message was shit as fuck. And fuck that shit.

--- In fact, I'd say it's so uncontroversially bad that we shouldn't even have to spoiler it. If there's anyone on this forum that liked that movie, they should probably hear this, if only so that in the future they can couch their affection for it elsewhere with a "despite its shitty over-the-top perpetuation of rape culture, I like." Well, if anyone gives half a shit to continue talking about it.

Thy Dungyeon Maestyr- Yeah, sorry for bringing it up. I saw ' Only lovers left alive', I think you guys would love it. At least musically and visually it's stunning. The vampires are delightfully normalised, their environments wonderfully cluttered and worn down. The story is slightly confusing and it only get's going in the second half, it's a slow mover for sure, languid. I think I'll have to watch it again.
