SUGGESTION: Regardless of how much you enjoy the work of Lovecraft, or delight at the artistry and creativity of the good folks at the HP Lovecraft Historical Society, do not EVER expose yourself to their Facebook page or anywhere else on the internet where they discuss Lovecraft. Apparently, the writer attracts psychotic hate trolls and the soft touches at HPLHS are unwilling to ban members regardless of how personal their invective gets to be.

So, what the hell is going on on Hannibal? I haven't watched tonight's episode, just finishing up the last one now, but did {Spoiler}did Will Graham really go native and become a cannibal serial killer? Did he really just eat Freddie Lounds? Seriously? WTF?!?! Do we not get to have any heroes left on this show? The show has gotten more and more artistic. The last episode I think was just a little too light on story (it was basically 75% imagery), but it was still appealing to watch.

@brett - I'm copy pasting a response from the general board last week, since it's relevant to my feelings regarding Will in the latest episodes: {Pure Hannibal Speculation Because I Spend Way too Much Time Asking What Ifs}I have a theory that Will did not actually kill Lounds (maybe he convinced her to play dead). If this is the case, he either gave Hannibal a piece of Beast Guy (which he'd stored in the freezer in his cabin) or literally gave him veal. As for Beast Guy, they never actually show Will killing him, just his account of the events. What we do see is Will waiting for an attack with his rifle, and then the beast guy leaps through the window in his killer costume. The outcome can be interpreted two ways.
1: The story Will told Hannibal, that he basically put the gun aside to pummel the beast man to death with his hands. It's a risky move, to both himself and his dogs, and only believable if he really did lose himself to the urge to kill viscerally.
2: Beast guy messed himself up by leaping through a window with a bulky fake animal suit. Will decided to convince Hannibal that he'd beat him to death by smacking the body with his fists.
Either of these seems reasonable. But Lounds has to be alive! I CANT LOSE ANOTHER BEVERLY wait what?
I liked Beverly so much more than Lounds. Alas!

I'm with Deek because it's really incongruous. Shows love their twists.

Just finally watched the season finale of Hannibal. Not spoiling anything for anyone, but holy shit that was fucked; what the hell are they going to do next season?
Chris, you should make a point of watching the series at some point, if you haven't already (I'm assuming you haven't had the time). It's twisted and chilling in a way that I've never experienced from anything in the genre before. It might be because it is well written or it might be because it is well cast and acted or it might be because it is shot and edited quite beautifully or it might be because some combination of all of these things.

Dr. Maneep Pamplemousse- I saw Borgman last night, umm it's interesting. Definitely not your run of the mill horror story. You're left wondering what the hell went on. I'd recommend it as you have to see it for yourself.

Thanks. Good to know the film is as trippy as the trailer. That's not always true.

I dunno man. I just don't think I'm gonna get around to it. My last memory of the franchise must be Ed Norton's turn.

Well, I think it's worth the time, even if you don't see it for another five years. It's sort of Ingmar Bergman meets someone who is either an exceptionally artistic psychopath or an expert on them.

I wouldn't call the creators of Hannibal, experts on psychopaths but it is great fun.

Good catch, lazy writing on my part. A more nuanced and accurate description would be that they wrote a more complex and unusual psychopath than most writers produce.

{negativity about hellraiser 3 and the matthew broderick godzilla} A negamendation: Hellraiser III, for reasons others have made abundantly clear across interwebs I'm sure. What struck me funny about it on seeing a short part of it tonite was that I had the inverse experience of the end of the Matthew Broderick Godzilla. I found that movie to be passable dumb entertainments, but the very last lines of dialogue were so bad they knocked me dead & the end credit music was a Puff Desecration of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir. Hellraiser III, conversely, was a horrible movie with achingly bad dialogue and mostly shit special effects and action, but the last thing to happen before the end credits was moderately clever / cool, and the music was Motörhead. Go fig.

Has anyone else watched the first episode of Del Toro's Strain? Nice scary arse vampires instead of the usual sparkles. It's an interesting mix of genres that's for sure. IMDb: The Strain (2014) A thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself. www.imdb.com/rg/em_share/title_web/title/tt2654620?ref=ext_shr_eml_tt
