Meanwhile, a human spied on them from a bank of tall grass nearby.

"Vell, what do ve suppose it will
be like inside? So many spiders?"
 
Hunter-
"If it is, I will probably freak the hell out, haha."

Hunter grabbed the edge of one of the boards nailed up over the door,
and yanked it out with hardly a strain. He tossed it over his head and
went for the next one.

Much rustling came from the grass and a reluctant fireball approached.

"Uh oh, what are you gonna do to me?
Don't punish me, it will be terrible.
Really, like, definitely don't do that."
 
Hunter-
"Oh don't worry, we're just playing around. "
Cross-
"Are you sure you're just playing around?
'Cause... uh, I don't want to be punished. Nope."

"Sophomore? Almost? Eh..."
Inside, Eli could see some small traces of moonlight filling the place with a grainy illumination his vampire eyes could handle, but a human probably not. There was a bulky mechanism at the bottom that turned into a column heading up toward the top, and around the outside of the tower, a spiral staircase of thin but sturdy metal. Interesting to see something you've never seen before, but kinda just what one would expect.

The human bumbled around in the dark, smacking his elbows and knees into various metal bars and stairs. 
Hunter-
"Alright, we all know you're super mature,
but I think you could use some help."
Cross-
"What-- no way, I'm awesome--" Hunter scooped the kid up damsel-style.
Cross-
"Huh? Uh, I guess this is okay. So, you guys
go up there. I'll keep um, look out."
{originally} Eli - "Ha, should we leave you two down here?" He looked at the pair for a moment, amused by Hunter's antics, then started heading towards the stairs.
