Dr. JarThe next morning, Erel got a knock on the door during breakfast. The daylight lighting up his apartment was aggressive, the knock solid and simple.

Erel- Erel was sleeping through breakfast-time peacefully, but wakes and goes to answer the door, throwing on a few more layers on the way. He almost always slept in clothes, perhaps to his benefit today. "Hello?" He opened the door, squinting a little. The lighting made his eyes a lovely mahogany color.

As the light rendered his own eyes brilliant, it also rendered him partially blind. Squinting in the light he couldn't even see the eyes of his visitor, a man.Visitor- "Erel Jameson?"

Erel- "I'm on my way... Can you give me five?" He hadn't received enough advanced warning to get all dressed up yet.
If allowed, he'd change his clothes quickly, before washing his face and picking up both crutches to get going.
He'd load himself into the car with no problems.

Visitor- "Definitely..." The man let Erel get dressed and stood by the open passenger side door waiting patiently. Then they were under way... The city rolled by quietly, going about its Grody business. They passed through the same part of town as the testing clinic, down a dip to low, wide roads, then back up to a hilltop full of high-voltage lines, truck stops, gas stations, and smallish corporate buildings.
Off the main road, through a line of scrubby planted trees, they came to the main offices of KPLQ. It was an ugly three story building that took up a whole city block, surrounded by a sliver of parking on all sides. The brutalist edifice was dotted with amber-tinted windows and giant broadcasting equipment on the roof was visible from street level.
The man drove them to the far side of the building - separated from any neighbors by a tall, thin-slat fence - and parked in a spot designated for two long vehicles. The other wasn't present. Erel opened the door for himself, but the man held it until he was safely out into the parking lot.

Erel- "So, this is it. Did I get accepted? Am I doing my first day at work today?" He rubbed his eyes a little bit. He wasn't used to getting up in the morning two days in a row, but he was going to have to get used to this. Maybe he'll just have more naps from now on. "...What does that stand for anyways?"

The Man- "KPLQ? Nonsense. Call signs don't usually mean anything. But yeah, you're in. Welcome aboard. As soon as we get your docs, we'll get you trained. I think. Come along." He led Erel up a ramp. Hey, the building was accessible, even if it was ugly.

Erel- Erel helps himself up the ramp, looking around as he goes. He uses his crutches to reach the top of the stairwell, and the doorway.
He follows up, and goes to help himself inside. "Good. I should have everything in order."

The guy led him to a room where one person worked robotically. He was photographed, data was entered, and a smell of hot wax later, handed this. The guy explained, Guy- "We use false names around here, helps with confidentiality. Call me Lennie, and you are... Kiefer, apparently." The robot worker apparently had more IDs to make, and began entering information from other folders.

Erel- "Alright then, I'm Kiefer..." He wondered if it was motivated by race, and then decided that he really didn't care that much, and picked up his ID. "Hello Lennie. Where do I go to next?"

((If u don't mind, switch to using the Kiefer ID for your pic.)) Lennie- "Well, we brought you here bright and early so you can get something taken care of... This is field work, so we can't have you using retrograde prosthesis. Gonna see a doctor at R&D." He patiently escorted Erel once more through dull halls of beige carpet and drop ceilings.

Erel- "You mean my crutches? What kind of field work is this? I'm not exactly equip to handle a lot of walking, though I pride myself in arm strength." He wondered what kind of weird work this would be. Maybe he'd have to use a wheelchair here...less than desirable for keeping his physical strength up. "...Alright, let's go." He followed behind, watching the dim lights and wondering what was going on. This was some involved job here.

He didn't look at Erel as they talked. Lennie- "You will be able to. You'll have to sign some more paperwork to be admitted to R&D, but you'll like what you see." True to word, they entered a waiting room for the R&D area, and he was handed another pile of forms. They were just as inscrutable as the last. Something in there sounded like Poli-Sci speak, but he felt like he was missing something in the word soup.
