Ashley helped carry it on one side. The nice thing about stretchers is that they can be supported by a person on each side, so they would have relief if they needed it. Ashley donated his blazer to help keep Davin warm, and allowed his rope to be cut up if they needed it to make the stretcher."...Davin, are you breathing ok?"

Patti asked Alex to help move Davin and she stayed behind to make final arrangements for the burning. She wasn't concerned about the fire spreading, since the industrial building was as much or more steel and concrete than anything particularly volatile. Also, none of the adjacent buildings looked suitable for habitation and, if they had been, she reckoned Pastor Lector would have already eaten the inhabitants.
She waited for the rest of the party to clear the building. Her plan was to step back a respectful distance and toss the flare on, then hightail back to the stairs and out the other door. (If my understanding of the layout is wrong, then she will come up with some other appropriate plan that doesn't require her to leave the cannibal gibs unattended for any lengthy period of time.)

That left Micah to give Patti a hand with the burning. He made a few gulping sounds now and then but was generally useful. It didn't really resemble a person now anyway."Reckon we should scatter the pieces before or after he burns just to be sure? I've seen fucking Dracula." ((Barring if DKender would prefer to stay behind of course but thems were the idea. Two to Davin and two to stay and burn the corpse))

Davin- "yeeah, *ugh*" Ashley and Alex carefully moved Davin out the back door, because they wouldn't be able to get the stretcher over the hole going the other way. Bonus: they didn't have to see the remains of Colqhoun's six victims again. They were out in the snow by the time Patti and Micah had spread the giblet pile around and dumped more flammable material on it. Patti stood ready with a flare waiting for Ashley to give the signal that Davin was out of the building before dropping it... There continued to be no sign of regeneration or movement in the mess.

Ashley- Ashley gave the signal. He was moving enough that he didn't feel as cold as it really was outside, or as cold as he'd feel if he stopped moving. All that mattered right now was that they got home, and the Pastor couldn't possibly disable both Patti and Micah in the meantime, could he? Maybe they should put him in a trunk, and throw him in the bay...
Had Ashley been a more intelligent man he would have perhaps thought of Schrodinger's Cannibal but as it was he did his best to remember the way home. "Hang tight Davin. I'm sorry we left you."

((Brett, describe the moment of setting the blaze and jetting, and then... We proceed!))
Davin shook his head dismissively at the apology, but didn't seem to have the strength to say anything at the moment.

At the signal, Patti waved at Micah."Run." She dropped back to the doorway and tossed the flare out into the mess. It sputtered and spit and smoked for several long heartbeats, then quite abruptly ignited the volatile fumes that the accelerants had created. Faster than any human could perceive, the fire filled the room and then contracted as the fumes were spent. In its wake, 80% of the surfaces in the room were engulfed in flame.
Fortunately, Patti had already begun to turn and run, so she took little damage from the blast, besides a few singed hairs in the back of her head. The room behind them began to fill with thick black smoke from the burning synthetic carpet fibers and the smoke poured out the hole in the ceiling. Patti ran as fast as she could, a small spark of panic inside as her raw throat burned mightily with just the slightest bit of smoke.
When she got to the stairwell, she ran full speed into the wall before she could stop herself. She was up the stairs, out the door, and onto the serene, blanketed street less than thirty seconds after she dropped the flare. As her warm breath hit the frigid air, it looked like smoke billowing from her ragged breath."Let's move, this might attract nasties and we're running out of daytime anyway." "Should we try to find a vehicle? It's gonna be a bear trying to carry him up that damn icy hill."

There are so many narrows and obstacles that the only useful vehicle would be a motorcycle, and even at a snail's pace, it was easy to imagine how that could lead to disaster... Still. Might be worth a shot. Maybe get Davin more sled like, tie a longish rope to the bike, keep two people walking the bike and two steadying Davin at all times... ? These kind of thoughts went through people's heads.

Ashley- Ashley had no such thoughts while walking up the hill with Davin, though he'd be open to the suggestion of having it pulled on a sled rather than carried. Carrying it uphill was awkward and required additional people in front to help move it. "There is not an easier way?"

Micah looked worryingly at Davin with a sigh. This had hard as fuck written all over it. He was just going to be happy for them to make it home."Honestly, I don't think there's going to be a fucking easy way to do this at all. We might want to consider using a boat. Davin needs bloody quick if we're gonna get him back in once piece."

Now that seemed like a good idea. Hopefully the dangers of water travel had been slightly played up, and at any rate, dark ghosts seemed less hoppin' during the day. Level land all the way to the dock (very close by), boat over to SLU, and the docks there were again a short distance over level land.

Patti rubbed the back of her neck and looked a little meek for a second."I think Micah's got the best of it. Let's sled Davin up and head to the waterfront. There aren't any recreational marinas nearby, but maybe we can find a smaller, manageable boat at one of the commercial/industrial docks. They're just four blocks away. Does anyone here actually know how to drive a boat?"

Alex would have raised his hand, but both of his hands were occupied with important business!"Patti, I do! Totally! More than I can drive a car. There's lots of boats and water in California. Sail boats, motor boats, paddle boats, canoes ... all the boats, really. Um. Never used a submarine, but that's not actually a boat, is it? Don't worry, Davin! We'll ferry you home!"

Ashley- Ashley nodded. This WAS in fact, a good idea, and he made the necessary modifications to Davin's arrangements to provide for that. "Even if we have to paddle it would be safer."

Davin- "let's ... do it..." The posse moved Davin to the waterfront, smacking occasional zombies along the way. They spotted an unhelpful human in the streets at least once. Down at the water, there may not have been a large recreational marina, but the area was shopped up into very mixed use property - which included a very small, possibly private marina. The boats in front of it were small craft, no sails. And there was a canoe, if anyone felt like forgoing digging up keys or hotwiring.
But then there was the rumored monsters. Few from the enclave had seen them directly, but there were supposed to be aquatic dark ghosts that could come up through the floor of your craft and kill you. Something larger and quicker than a rowboat would provide a bit more protection from that possible angle of attack.
So... Hotwiring the boats should be too hard with basic tools. Try that, or go into the darkened marina building to look for keys? Canadian geese floated and waddled nearby, oblivious to the goosicidal maniacs in their midst.
