"Um ... I'm going to shout. If there's a monster in the house, they'll hear us coming a mile away, anyway. And if somebody's hiding, it's a good idea to announce our peaceful intentions, right?" She waited a moment, allowing time for objections.[/i]

"Yup, screaming.Very peaceful." Rob just hoped it would all go swimmingly and he wouldn't mess up too much being the new guy. He'd survived encounters with ghosts, barely.

Breg- "Go ahead, speak." In the meantime, he stares up at the sky, and within the house.

Wolf seemed to be coming down from his earlier tension. In response to Robbie's "screaming" comment, Wolf replied, to Molly..."Take it away, Jamie Lee."

She was not one to disappoint!
"Hello in there! Hello! Is anybody home?! WE COME IN PEACE! IF YOU NEED HELP, SAY SOMETHING! I'm just so worried that we'll someday be attacked by human be'ans who mistake us for monsters."

There was no reply, either because no one was home, or because of more sinister reasons, perhaps. Footprints over the fallen paper revealed bootprints, and bare feet in one direction: inside, but not out.
The house stood in a place that was almost caught between worlds, in which it made itself unclear whether it was foreboding or forlorn.
Nearby, they heard the barking of dogs, but the street was otherwise silent.

Rob glanced at the others, was that it, really? Surely nothing was that simple, or maybe it really really was…
Chances were though, with the preparation of these folks, they wouldn’t be satisfied with a simple door knock though, they meant business. They would have made for one hell of a Mormon door knocking team. He wondered if zombie Mormons still travelled in pairs.
He waited for the others to decide and tried not to think about how itchy his stitches suddenly were.

Wolf drew his knife and flashlight. He scanned the room with the beam, paying extra attention to the corners, low and high, and large furniture objects that could conceal a human-sized attacker."We don't split up, but we spread out. We want eyes on the rooms we came from as we search the next, we don't want anyone coming in behind and taking us by surprise." Wolf had developed this tactic when he went out with Breg, though he had at times gone out on his own, more frequently than he ever should have.

Breg- Breg nods, and heads inside.
The first room has no life that they can see, just scattered furniture and paper from another room.
It's an entrance hall like theirs, and opens up into a beautiful dining hall in the far end. There are glass cabinets filled with crystal ware that would have been worth a fortune had it not been the end of the world.
The light from the windows illuminate the very light yellow interior beautifully.
Some paintings of nature hang on the wall, probably costly at the time.
A single merman? basin greets them in the entrance hall.
Additionally, there is a stairwell heading up to the second floor from the entrance hall.

Jacob followed Wolf's suggestion and kept his eyes behind, mostly. Jacob- "..."

Molly scanned the area for signs of injury: blood, teeth, anything telling.[/i] "I doubt there was a struggle without humans, unless the monsters are fighting each other. Wouldn't that be nice!" She eyed the staircase. If there had been people in the house, and a threat entered the first floor, they'd probably retreat to higher grounds. Maybe hide in a locked bedroom and escape through the window.
[/i] "We should check upstairs. No attic, though. I draw the line at the attic."

As with most nice big houses, there is a carpeted stairwell to the second floor, complete with wooded railings up the side. A painting of a stylized cat greets them upon further examination. Sylvia- "Well, up there looks nice. Maybe we can do a bit of invasion and see how it looks..Naw, let's clear the first floor first, make sure there's nothing in here." Sylvia struck a confident pose but honestly she wasn't eager to combat foes in such close quarters, especially after their unusually lucky last home invasion. Can't stretch your luck too far. Breg- "I think I want to look around here before going up, just for completeness, as Sylvia says, though I agree that they would either go upstairs or try to escape out the back if they were attacked from here..." He sighs and eyes the area which would house the other rooms they had to explore before ascending. For completeness' sake indeed.

“Well, there's certainly no accounting for taste is there? At least that's ruled out, monsters don't care if you have giant paintings of kittens or merman basins. Perhaps they prefer it? Or maybe that's what scared it off?” Rob was pretty sure if a monster was here, it'd already be here surely. What kind of monster waits around to pop out of a corner? Where they five year old monsters? Rob flinched at the thought.
