A small figure emerged from the shadows!!

Olivia-
"Booga. Hey. Isn't it kind of silly looking around in here? I'm pretty sure we'd know if people were in here."

Olivia started following Alex around as he searched.

Olivia-
"So like, I'm not your type huh? Man... Well whatever. Why don't we just hang out and drink or something then? This is boring."

"It's not that. I'm nineteen. Old enough to be your ..." He considered it. "Older brother."

Alex threw his flashlight back and forth between his hands and thought deep thoughts. Sure, he wanted to be responsible. However, actively looking for his team might lead him to Kenny in a state of undress, and that would be beyond traumatizing.

"How about we drink something with lots of calories and pretend it's food? Jordan might pass the bar, right? So we're technically searching for him. I'll tell you scary stories, or something. It's like camp time twenty-four seven in here, anyway. And then you can tell me secrets. For example: what's up with this place?"

Olivia-
"Oh sure! We have some Kahlua left!"

She scampered to the bar.

Olivia-
"What's up with this place? I dunno... It's pretty cool sometimes, I like some of the people. If we had more food it would be great. I heard you guys have a bakery and stuff. You're all eating like, fried chicken every day. That's not true, right?"

She poured a meager amount of Kahlua in two shot glasses, tossing the empty bottle in a cardboard box where it made a very loud CLANK.

Alex heard fast approaching footsteps, and someone emerged from the gloom.

Kenny-
"Dude! Where is everyone?! We gotta get out of here, it's getting really late."


Olivia-
"SIGH not this again..."

"Yeah. This again. It's like he has 'interrupt Alex when he's talking to a lady' radar. Micah is looking for you thatta way, Dude." He pointed towards the small bar door. "I don't know about Richie, Cathleen, or Judy. You seen them lately, Duuude? Or ... were you too busy?"

Kenny-
"Man, don't give me that shit. I can't find anybody, I find Judy for ten minutes, think she's with me, BAM no one's there. It's like freaking Scooby Doo, and I don't got a dog-friend at all. All these weirdos here keep telling me to just ask Jordan, but have you even seen that guy?"


Olivia-
"Hey! We're just trying to have fun. It's not our fault if you guys miss your bus or whatever. Just go back tomorrow, what's the big deal?"


Kenny-
"You know we're gonna get everyone barkin' about this back home if we don't show up. I don't wanna go out there with a bunch of possess-able people where there are demons running around! Christ, what am I even saying? The world is really weird. Damn."

Hm. It was like Scooby Doo, but the monsters were real. Could he be a Man Velma?

"Ah, look, we've lost control, okay? Something mysterious is going down, but I trust these people, so ... so it's fine. Let's just stick together, stay put, and keep an eye out for Jordan or the others."

He remembered Kyle's odd statement. Alex sneakily took out his investigation notebook.

"Hey, Kenny. Did that blonde woman from earlier try to hook up with you? I'm not being a jerk, honest - the question's important. It might explain why everyone's missing. Like you say, world's weird."

Kenny-
"What? No. What? Did you hear something? No."

"Uhhhhh huh. So yes. That's unfortunate. Mostly for the woman."

He wrote a big "BROSEPH=YES EW" in the tiny notebook, then drank the Kahlua. Alex decided to ignore Kenny for a while.

"Yummy. Is this what coffee tastes like? No wonder people drink it. I bet everyone's having supper now in 403. We eat goose, not chicken. The chooks - that's Australian for chicken - are like pets. But they do make eggs! And Chantelle, our main cook (just don't repeat that in front of Micah, okay?), is a vegan-tarian, so she knows how to make gross stuff taste great. Hey, Olivia. Are you a Satanist?"

Kenny-
"Tsst. Whateva. If you could be so kind, beer me, kid."


Olivia-
"Here ya go. Tegan, haha... She's high class...
Oh yeah, that sounds really great. Not as nice as fried chicken, but great...
...Yes I am. And a merry hail Satan to you, my friend. Hey, what about this one?"

She handed Alex a milky looking drink. It smelled like tropical themed antiperspirant.

Kenny-
"I keep hearing about that. That is just wrong, kid. Worshipping Satan? Really?"

Alex considered the drink. He was so hungry, even its nasty scent seemed appealing. How did the regulars at El Corazon survive? Poor things. He pretended it was liquid hamburger and took a few sips

"They don't worship Satan. They don't even believe in the devil. It's a philosophy based on compassion, destruction, and lust. That's partly how Kyle described Satanism, anyway. He's smart. Hey. Hey. So. This Tegan - the Tegan Kenny totally did not hook up with - is SHE a Satanist? OH! OH! PLEASE SAY YES!"

Kenny-
"Destruction and lust? Are you even listening to yourself?"


Olivia-
"It makes more sense when Kyle explains it, but I'm into it, big time. Tee hee...
Oh, I'm sorry Alex. Tegan is one of our Christians. Some people..."

The drink was coconut rum, probably. More calories? We can hope.
Kenny blew a sigh, shrugged, and drank some more. You think Alex is starting to feel the effects yet...?

"HAHA! Kenny, you're funny. There's so much destruction and lust in the bible, it gives me nightmares! Hey, watch this handstand, guys."

He tried to be awesome, but instead fell on his butt.

"I'm okay!"

Sadly, Alex was kinda drunk.

Olivia-
"Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' abou- whoa! Are you OK? OK. Hee hee."


Kenny-
"Man, I'm gonna go look for people again."


Olivia-
"Don't let the door hit your ass!"

Kenny escaped!

"Thanks. I HATE that guy. Soooo much."

Olivia-
"I know. He is the worst, apparently."

"It's the worst. Why did Anna team us up? His face makes me sick. He killed my friend."

Olivia-
"That is bad..."

"People we loved are dead. They're DEAD. Whyyyy?"

Alex was one gloomy thought away from pulling an Edgar Pan.

The music played softly. Some kids slow danced near by. Olivia leaned over the bar and pulled Alex gently to where he could lean on her shoulder. As she spoke, she produced more of the coconut rum.

Olivia-
"There, there. I know this world has gone rotten. You have to hold fast to your friends, because who knows what tomorrow will bring? Your heart is too big Alex."

She stroked his emo hair.
