Ben- "If you insist. But... going in now totally defeats the purpose of staying behind in the first place." Ben didn't see the point in trying to rescue the scouts. If they'd encountered something that they couldn't handle, he didn't think the rest of the group would have a better chance. They were probably fine though. It wasn't unexpected that people with guns would find something to shoot at in there."They haven't even emptied one of their guns yet, so they're probably fine."

Seth- "True, but you never know, and also there could be good reasons to go in there now that have yet to be determined. Soooo let's go, gents!"
The ne'er do wells took off to do no well inside. Stevie handed off the radio to Ben, and he and Beau were left standing in the overgrown garden.
Beau- "Yes, it's a bad idea but I 'ope they are okay." Beau glanced around nervously, keeping an eye on the zombies that passed, moving toward the sound of gunfire.

Ben followed Beau's gaze, and hoped that the zombies would lose interest. Because he didn't quite feel up to fending off a horde virtually alone. A few he could manage, but if more came along... Ben- "You've been here before, so do you think there'd be any way to lure away a large group of zombies to some other place, and then lose them and get back here quickly?" They probably wouldn't have time though. Surely the others would be back before anything like that could be done.

Beau spoke quietly, the zombies seemed to be ignoring them in favor of the muffled, but still quite loud racket from within. The overgrown garden worked well to shield them from view, but it could easily be lost if enough monsters took notice. Chou watched them carefully.
Beau- "Mm, yes. Last time I am here, there were many zombies following. They 'ave trouble with doors, we can go in one, and out the other and they will be confused and lose track. I am trying to not go inside though, they worry I am a spy for monsters..." He said the last part jokingly, but looked at least a bit annoyed about that idea.

Indeed, the zombies weren't very good at picking out the source of the noise. They seemed to be circling the block looking for a way in, but the overgrown hedge trees at the entrance to this plaza were totally baffling to them.
Beau and Ben were still concerned enough with them they didn't notice movement within, and due to the thick plexiglass of the doors and such, even Chou's keen senses didn't detect the figure emerging onto the mezzanine within, not far away...
Emerging from the pitch black stairs to hell. ((Go ahead and keep chatting, haha.))

Ben- "Ah. Good idea." Ben could see how Beau might be a 'spy' or the carrier of some kind of supernatural 'bug'. But without any actual indication Ben wasn't willing to give much credence to that suspicion. Surviving against the odds applied to everyone who was still alive, and Ben didn't find it that unlikely that Beau had managed to get away fair and square from the mummy. Never hurt to be aware of the possibilities though, so Ben made sure to watch his back.

Beau- "You know, I do think the mummies use 'zis building. I don't know for what purpose, but this is where they start all of this. Does he live here? But, look how tall this is. 70 stories? 80? I just 'ope we can find something and leave, I hate to think we must go through the whole thing one day."

Nearer and nearer the horrible thing drew, walking in a shockingly swift and well-coordinated stride. Bloody Monster- "..."
It was coming to the door...

Ben- "Eh, what we should do is to get some heavy fire-throwing equipment and torch all the ghosts, then sift through what's left. Personally I'd like to take a look at the floor where the ghost cloud came from. I guess it'd be bad if we torched any clues, but perhaps fire would ruin something that needs to be 'active' to keep the monsters around?" Ben figured that this spur-of-the-moment tally-ho into the lion's den was good enough for a scouting mission, but if they meant business, they should bring the business. Not just a few, brave adventurers with flares and guns. If there were as many ghosts in there as Ben thought, they should make a huge slingshot that could fire burning stuff into clouds of ghosts.

Beau- "It sounds silly, but I wonder what would 'appen if we get a helicopter and go from the top--"

The door behind them swung wide quickly, and hearing this, they turned their heads. They expected to see escaping friends. Instead this Bloody Monster- "..." and it didn't slow for a second, walking straight at them. Chou peed in shock.

Ben instinctively brought up his bokken to fend off the... attacker? Well, if he was attacking, he'd have to change his course, because Ben stepped backwards and to the side to delay any decision he'd have to make. Ben- "Oh crap!"

Beau- "!!!" Beau stepped back, pushing Chou with his foot, and out of the way of the creature. He held his hands out like a gunslinger with no gun.

It didn't slow at all! Also, it didn't swerve to attack the men as they avoided it, or look back at them as it walked by. Bloody Monster- "..." It was strapped with an improbably large backpack, jammed with unknown contents, and quickly left the plaza for the street. Ben remembered he had the radio, but didn't know that calling for anyone was necessary or prudent at the moment. ((whatever you want to do, Gillsing))

Ben lowered his bokken again. Ben- "Huh? What was that? Damn. If we only could follow and see what he's doing." Ben could think of a number of things that could be contained in that backpack. Had the mummy just sent out a drone with a backpack filled with enough explosives to blow up the 403? Naaah, that was just good ole "Terrorist!" thinking. But was the mummy using mindless monsters to send stuff to some other place? Was it some kind of planned evacuation, or spreading out? Or was it a desperate move to sneak something away from the present invaders?
Ben got out the radio, thinking that following looked more and more like a better idea than staying put. Then he realised that the radio would only put him in contact with the scouts, and not with Seth's group. The scouts who already hadn't responded, and who were probably too busy fighting to consider the strategical ramifications of following a monster-man with a backpack to a possible new mummy-hideout. Looked like Ben had to stay put after all.
