The dock was beginning to be crowded, so there was some pressure for those doing the walkthrough to get on the ship. Colt and Butcher hung back to help the others find their way, leaving you free to check out the ship by yourself briefly.
A foghorn blew from somewhere in the fog, and the cold water hair rushed around you, blowing sleet under your umbrella, ruffling your hair and sending your coat flapping. The gangway looked treacherous, too many heavy feet tromping over it these past weeks. ∆§Indea§∆

I climbed the gangway slowly my heart beating even faster for a moment. This was it. The final chapter. I wanted to take this moment to have a look around at every crook and cranny I could. This unending sleet was not inspiring though. I looked for something undercover at least. Perhaps I could find something interesting there.

The gangway had moved far too much for your liking as you crossed it, but you were safe and sound on the other side before long. You found a covered area of the deck to stand, a thin bit of rusty metal caught the sleet above you. Too bad the fog was so thick or it might have had a nice view up here. Cops and assorted personnel tromped around, you heard them moving around below the deck. That was your eventual destination, though it probably wasn't a good idea to go alone. Tim had been apprehended up here, you'd heard. What was he doing standing around on this deck? Had he thrown the boy overboard here?
((Maybe a good spot for you to roll something, does he investigate the environment? Or just ponder the motivations of his client? Or something else?))

I tried to remember whereabouts he’d been found. He had been covered in blood but I doubted a trace of it still remained. I stood there trying to think about Tim’s motives, had he wanted to get caught or was he just caught in the moment?Intuition nxQBQ74_+ +3 ·

Based on where the door to the stairs was, you could imagine his path. Would he be leading the boy, or carrying him? It seemed more like he'd carry him, it'd probably be hard to lead him the whole way up the stairs. The boy wasn't a baby. Given that, it seemed likely the boy was unconscious, or already dead... It would have been easy to walk to the edge and drop him over, then return to gaze out at the water (on a clearer night.) What was it Butcher had said-- the sky seemed like it was red. Certainly blood in ones eyes and the fires of the smelting towers could give that impression. There was something odd though.
Why drop the boy overboard? Tim's corpses had all been left were they fell, including the boy's mother just downstairs. Why leave a witness-- Butcher, and take the boy somewhere else to dispose of the body? Of course he was not acting rationally, but it would be quite a feat to carry a 60 pound boy all the way up those stairs. Why go through the effort? And dropping him in the water didn't seem dramatic enough to be the final step of an elaborate 'ritual.' Maybe he was just exhausted, and too weak to bother leaving this spot, allowing himself to be arrested.

According to Timothy, the ritual had been completed. Had he needed the boy after that? Perhaps the kid had been in shock so was easily led or at least easily carried. Had he been thrown overboard to join countless native bones? Or was he still down there in some hidden part of the ship, some secret cupboard? It seemed more likely really. Butcher had fainted before the ritual had finished, perhaps there had been another step that had occurred elsewhere and that was where the boy was left. The amount of smells around could have confused the dogs and it wasn’t impossible that a barrel of chemicals had been left onboard to dissolve the body. It was still a mystery to keep Butcher alive, he had only witnessed the beginning after all so what use after that had he been to a man with no qualms about killing? Perhaps tonight would reveal the answer.
