I had read through the details but had not processed the horror. Not fully. There was a difference between reading something and seeing it play out before you. And even in motion, even laid out in full display, it was no more sensible than it had been before. 2YaWio_3+(4) I tried to think of a way to rationalize all of this, but I came up with nothing. Who could do something like that? I had to admit the rituals reminded me of another serial murder case but I could not shake that I was missing something important in all of this. There was an undercurrent none of us could grasp. But what was it?
I did not feel shaken, but I had questions. What was their motive?
Where was the detective? What actually happened? And why didn't the physical evidence add up? ·

Lieutenant Pierce- "Thank you, Detective Colt. I'd like you all to know this-- The forensic investigation is complete. Unless there is a new crime scene, a new crime... We are not looking for additional leads. Our focus is on getting this suspect out of his fugue and finding out what he knows. We want to find out what became of this missing child and get some closure for the families of the victims.
Some of you will have other goals, but I don't want you wasting resources on pet projects. Doctor Bassett will be performing a psychological evaluation and needs access to Mills, so I'm not going to tolerate any more road blocks in that regard. You want to see the paperwork, come see me.
I'll excuse you all now, you are responsible for finding your way to the scene. I'll also ask that you turn over all cellphones, tablets, laptops-- anything capable of taking photos or video to one of our guards for safe keeping. We don't want any leaked pictures getting out. This of course doesn't apply to our forensic photographer and anyone with a radio, you can hold onto that. You'll get it all back at the end of the day, I'm sure you can go five minutes without checking your phones."
There was a ripple of grumbles through the crowd as a large metal lockbox was placed on the table, and people began fishing through their pockets.
Lieutenant Pierce- "We'll of course need to pat you down as well. Officer Silverman, would you please assist us?"
Officer Milton, a female guard, was there to help check you for contraband. Did you have any? What did you surrender at the table? The guards were discreet and disinterested. Describe the experience.
Everyone was responsible for making it to the scene themselves. There wasn't great bus service, so you'd need to catch a cab or a ride with someone else if you hoped to get there on time. Everyone was given the address and the option to follow the police, or you could take your time, though no one would wait around for you. The rain had turned into bursts of cold sleet, the temperature suddenly dropping to shivery levels.
Once you're done describing your experience here, you may advance to the following thread if you'd like to talk to your team members or look for a ride.

I snuck back in as Lieutenant Pierce was finishing thanking Colt and my ears pricked up.You caught a few looks coming back, but no one looked any more sour than how they usually looked, you guessed. Sleet was crackling against the windows, the cold radiating off the glass. My heart dropped when I heard 'pet projects' then soared as he finished saying my name and 'access to Mills'. I could kiss him. Finally I could do my job and get materiel for my book unfettered. I handed over my phone without issue but not my two voice recorders. They weren't mentioned and Colt herself had okayed it. I was open about the one in my hand but didn't mention the one in my sock. I was polite and cordial with the process. No point getting uppity. If I really had to, I would give them up. I'm not a fighter. At this point I just wanted to get started with Mills at the crime scenes.

Officer Milton located the recorders and scrutinized them for a moment before handing them back.Officer Milton- "Just be careful with those..." Whatever that meant. You were free to go.

I encouraged people to queue up for Milton.
Colt (uneasy)- "Hand it over, we'll keep it safe. It's a police station."
When I was satisfied, I tried to rustle up Butcher and get on the road... Colt left!

I handed over my personal cellphone. It was already off; cell phone calls were not allowed on duty but I did like having the camera handy. I had no contraband or anything interesting to offer in the meantime.
I decide to catch a ride with one of the following persons, still milling over the rawness of the case.
No more CSI. Then why was I asked to attend? I could not get the sneaking suspicion out of my mind that something was missing.

Detective Rodriguez- "Hi, looking for someone to ride with?" You didn't know him, but he seemed nice enough.

Harriet- "Sure. Thanks." I sidled up with the new stranger. He seemed like a friendly sort and I'd rather not bring another vehicle to the crowded site already. "I'm Harriet. What's your name?"

"Detective David Rodriguez, nice to meet you. Are you in forensics? Hope it won't be too boring for you-- but boring's good, right?" He led you to the back parking lot where a few others were loading up for the expedition. The prisoner transport van was idling. The detective glanced that way before he opened your door for you. He had a bunch of sappy pictures of his family tucked in the sun visor. ((Harriet's story continues here... horrorboys.proboards.com/thread/1040/14-45-harriet-gray-car ))
