Kaito’s Appointment.
The doctor slowly glanced at the man and nodded solemnly. He held open the door and motioned for him to have a seat.
“You’re Kaito. I’m Dr. Victor, I don’t believe we’ve been introduced. Thank you for the opportunity to assist you. I’ll try to make this as brief and painless as possible.”
He clicked the pen rapidly, pursing his lips and looking over his notes.
“So, can I have your age and place of origin?”
“Any medical issues or past surgeries? How about allergies and immunizations?”
“Any fevers, weaknes, fatigue, chills, or night sweats?”
“Whom do you roommate with? Is everything going as well as can be expected?”
The doctor put the clipboard down.
“Would you have any objection if I listened to your heart and lungs? How many years have you been a smoker? Do you have a plan to cut back or down?”
“Any pain in your teeth or swelling in your gums?”
“Well, thanks for your time, Kaito. Any questions you have for me, on a professional or personal level? Feel free to ask anything.”
Thierry’s appointment:
Dr. Victor seemed to perk up upon seeing Thierry waiting outside the clinic. He smiled and glanced about.
“Oh, Thierry! Have you come to see Dr. Melange or myself?”
“Well, that’s great. Come on in; I’ll make this as swift as I can. I’m sure you’re back on patrol somewhere, right?”
“Good. If you could, remove your shirt and trousers. You don’t have to but it makes the exam go that much faster.”
He strips down to electric blue boxer briefs. He is hella well built.
“You have a very delicate accent. Can I ask your place of birth? Have you traveled a lot around Europe?”
“Oh, that’s the stuff of dreams! Anyways, do you have any significant medical history or allergies? What kinds of immunizations did you have to have and how long since you’ve had them?”
“Any significant weight loss? How about weakness, fatigue, fever, chills, or night sweats?”
“Any problems with your heart racing?”
The doctor smiled softly.
“Well, that’s great, I can tell you’re in peak physical condition. Thanks… I’m serious, but thank you very much the other day coming back from the clinic. When you’re as old as I am, one day, you’ll understand what happens to pride under pressure.”
“Anything you’d like to ask me, either professional or personal? Nothing’s off limits here.”
"Well, uh, Thierry..."
The doctor blushed fiercely, looking down at the floor, seemingly indistinctly.
"So, yeah. I guess it's all right, I mean. Well, I, uh, I'm not exactly, well... versed in that subject; I mean... wow."
The doctor felt his eyes peel onto Thierry's frame and widened significantly.
"So, yeah. I mean, yes. While I've been asked to keep some secrets, I understand there are a significant number of, what is the best way to put it, uh, liberal thinkers, right? I... yeah. Uhm, yeah."
The doctor handed Thierry his clothes, turning as red as the electric shorts were blue.
"You can get dressed... and.. yes, I am happy and fortunate, I suppose. Thank you, Thierry. This has been the best question yet."
Daniel: Please save Daniel for one on one?
Marie: He hardly feels it necessary, but he will go to her room and perform this as a last house call.
Stevie’s appointment:
The doctor slowly peeked open the bathroom door, looking to see who was next. He sighed a bit and nodded to himself. Dr. Victor pushed open the door and gave Stevie a silent wave hello.
“Nice to meet you, Steve. Dr. Victor. Please, come on in. I’ll try and make this quick for you.”
Dr. Victor motioned to the stool in the room.
“You can disrobe if you wish, though I’m sure I’ll get all the answer I need right out of you just by asking. I can tell that about you.”
“Stevie, can I have your age, height and weight, please? Do you have any significant family or medical history to speak of? Any allergies or recent immunizations or vaccinations?”
“Good, good…”
The doctor absently clicked the pen a few times and added notes after prolonged periods of silence.
“Have you experienced any sudden weight changes? How about weakness or fatigue? Any fever or chills, or night sweats? Who do you currently room with?”
“Any tender areas? Skin, muscles? Any strains, sprains or scrapes?”
“Do you currently take any medications? Are you a smoker? Any problems with your vision while wearing your glasses? Farsighted or nearsighted?”
“How are your bladder and your bowels? Everything as regular as possible?”
“Great, Stevie, see? It wasn’t as bad as you thought, I’m sure. Any questions you have for me, professionally or personally?"
"Dr. Melange is probably disappointed you didn’t go and get examined by her. I hear she has a different bedside manner. Thanks again, Stevie.”
The doctor waved and shrugged as Stevie left.
"High strung, yes, but... I guess I'll have to figure that whole 'cool' thing out. Not like I have anything but time, right?"
Kaito-
"Nn."
He clicked the pen rapidly, pursing his lips and looking over his notes.
“So, can I have your age and place of origin?”
Kaito-
"39 years old. Osaka, Japan."
“Any medical issues or past surgeries? How about allergies and immunizations?”
Kaito-
"Mm, appendix, long time ago. Allergic to penicillin. Lactose intolerance. No immunization in eight years, ah, don't remember which ones."
“Any fevers, weaknes, fatigue, chills, or night sweats?”
Kaito-
"No."
“Whom do you roommate with? Is everything going as well as can be expected?”
Kaito-
"Tyrone, mm, yes."
The doctor put the clipboard down.
“Would you have any objection if I listened to your heart and lungs? How many years have you been a smoker? Do you have a plan to cut back or down?”
Kaito-
"I guess we have no choice. I smoke two a day now, and then... It will be nothing. I always smoked."
“Any pain in your teeth or swelling in your gums?”
Kaito-
"No."
“Well, thanks for your time, Kaito. Any questions you have for me, on a professional or personal level? Feel free to ask anything.”
Kaito-
"Nn."
Thierry’s appointment:
Dr. Victor seemed to perk up upon seeing Thierry waiting outside the clinic. He smiled and glanced about.
“Oh, Thierry! Have you come to see Dr. Melange or myself?”
Thierry-
"Yourself, of course."
“Well, that’s great. Come on in; I’ll make this as swift as I can. I’m sure you’re back on patrol somewhere, right?”
Thierry-
"Nothing important for a few hours."
“Good. If you could, remove your shirt and trousers. You don’t have to but it makes the exam go that much faster.”
He strips down to electric blue boxer briefs. He is hella well built.
“You have a very delicate accent. Can I ask your place of birth? Have you traveled a lot around Europe?”
Thierry-
"My father was from Liberia and my mother from Kingston, but I really think of myself as French. I've been around. Most of my recreational travel was to London and Spain. They have hot clubs in those places."
“Oh, that’s the stuff of dreams! Anyways, do you have any significant medical history or allergies? What kinds of immunizations did you have to have and how long since you’ve had them?”
Thierry-
"I've some plant allergies. Childhood asthma seems completely gone. I had a full round of immunizations on coming to America, quite recently."
“Any significant weight loss? How about weakness, fatigue, fever, chills, or night sweats?”
Thierry-
"No to most of that. On weight loss, it has been but a short time, but I'm doing my best to eat protein bars and anything else I can. I take a perhaps inordinate pride in my physique. Perhaps it's an affliction we share?"
“Any problems with your heart racing?”
Thierry-
"Maybe just now, haha."
The doctor smiled softly.
“Well, that’s great, I can tell you’re in peak physical condition. Thanks… I’m serious, but thank you very much the other day coming back from the clinic. When you’re as old as I am, one day, you’ll understand what happens to pride under pressure.”
Thierry-
"Oh, you're not so old. But yes, we're all under a good deal of strain."
“Anything you’d like to ask me, either professional or personal? Nothing’s off limits here.”
Thierry-
"Ah yes, well... What do you think of being a homosexual in a world with such a reduced population? One would think that a sad lonely situation, but we seem to have done remarkably well in that regard, ahem..."

“Nice to meet you, Steve. Dr. Victor. Please, come on in. I’ll try and make this quick for you.”
Stevie-
"Hey, I appreciate that."
Dr. Victor motioned to the stool in the room.
“You can disrobe if you wish, though I’m sure I’ll get all the answer I need right out of you just by asking. I can tell that about you.”
Stevie-
"Yeah, I don't bullshit, but I'll take off the collared shirt so you can do the, eh, vitals, whatchacallit."
“Stevie, can I have your age, height and weight, please? Do you have any significant family or medical history to speak of? Any allergies or recent immunizations or vaccinations?”
Stevie-
"47, 5'10", 270, a few heart attacks in the folks... Allergic to a few rare types of cheese, all my shots are probably good, but I didn't pay that close of attention. Just been to the doctor as they ask me to."
“Good, good…”
The doctor absently clicked the pen a few times and added notes after prolonged periods of silence.
“Have you experienced any sudden weight changes? How about weakness or fatigue? Any fever or chills, or night sweats? Who do you currently room with?”
Stevie-
"Man, the roomy situation is a sore spot. I had one, but he couldn't deal with the mess. I dunno... Fuck it. On the rest of that, I can't tell. I think my only fatigue is from pushin' myself harder than ever, but it's maybe gettin' easier."
“Any tender areas? Skin, muscles? Any strains, sprains or scrapes?”
Stevie-
"Lotta little scratches from zombies, random nails and shit. I do know I'm up on tetanus, at least, forgot to mention. Left shoulder is bitchy sometimes, but oh well."
“Do you currently take any medications? Are you a smoker? Any problems with your vision while wearing your glasses? Farsighted or nearsighted?”
Stevie-
"I quit the stupid fuckin' statins. They didn't work and they had side effects. I'm a lil' farsighted, prefer glasses to contacts."
“How are your bladder and your bowels? Everything as regular as possible?”
Stevie-
"Damn. Uh, constipation sometimes but nothin' to write home about. Good grief."
“Great, Stevie, see? It wasn’t as bad as you thought, I’m sure. Any questions you have for me, professionally or personally?"
Stevie-
"Yeah, um, you seem a little high strung. Are you gonna be able to hang tough with this situation? We got another doc so it's probably OK if ya wanna take it easy..."
"Dr. Melange is probably disappointed you didn’t go and get examined by her. I hear she has a different bedside manner. Thanks again, Stevie.”
Stevie-
"No problem, man. Have a great day."
The doctor waved and shrugged as Stevie left.
"High strung, yes, but... I guess I'll have to figure that whole 'cool' thing out. Not like I have anything but time, right?"
