I've started watching the new Cosmos with my driver. We've only gotten through two episodes (actually this will be the third time I've watched the series), but he is really enjoying it. I'm sure most of us have seen it, but if anyone hadn't they really should find the time.

Sebastian- {Strain}I am giving it the benefit of being the first episode, I think they'll explain more as they go. There's no evidence they mean to wipe people out so much as gain power. We'll see. I'm in for a few more episodes. {True blood 7}See Tara always annoyed me.
I love Lafayette I'm so glad they didn't kill him off like in the books.
I'm banking they find a cure, the obvious answer being fairy blood. Eric can't die. ;-; Yeah, Alcide's death was weird. So was Tara's, makes me think she might not be dead dead. I dunno.

{saw the strain ep 1,} Re: the killing all the prey off thing. Nature does that shit all the time, though now it's usually humanity's fault in some way or another. If you want to be depressed out, read up on the Black Death or "fish kills" or the Holocene Extinction Event and so many more lovely things. Nature isn't trying to restore balance - it isn't a conscious being with a plan. Nature is a detente in a militarized world, so anything going out of balance can lead to disaster without escape or sense. Notice, a great deal of animal and plant extinctions past were not from comets or humans. They just happened over time as shit randomly went off the rails.

{strainy / misanthropic pessimisms} Not to belabor the point, but we see humans jeopardizing their own existence right now because we cannot rise above our animal instinct to push for short term gains at the expense of others, and our amazing ability to believe whatever is most convenient rather than what is true. We are going to kill ourselves off, one way or another. Maybe these vamps think saving some humans for later will be unduly harmful to the vampire stock market, or that jeebus will always provide more humans, or that they don't need to be prudent because the rapture is happenin any day now.

{hosty vamps} Yeah, even weirder for me, the girl was able to find her way home in a city as big as NYC presumably on foot.

{Le strain!}I haff seen all zhe episodes. And so far I really like it, especially the monsters! They kind of hit us over the head with main character guy's home life issues/control problems in episode one ((show, don't tell, guuuyz)) but that's a very minor issue.
The vampires are dangerous and creepy, fast and violent, a real threat.
As for the other stuff, I've never really cared about marital/children issues on TV, because pfffffttttt. So I personally think they spend too much time with the child custody stuff. I guess people with families or children or spouses might disagree, though, so no biggie!
Definitely plan to continue following the series, and am REALLY interested to know how the big villain's plot unfolds.

I wish the whole cast of The Strain was goths. Everyone goth. Yes. Yes please. Army of goths vs vampires.

{Le Strain episode 5}Well that escalated quickly! Good ol Eph, you kinda knew he was gonna be on the out with the CDC but even with proof makes it fishy. It's weird how characters grab you, like for some reason I really like the exterminator guy. I was so glad he didn't perish or get vamped. I think it was last episode when he connected with the little girl when he de-ratted her house. I think he's my fave at the moment.
