The library is upstairs. A little white spiral staircase like one might expect to see on a ship leads up into the space. It has wall to wall wood paneling of the classy type, with the rest of those surfaces filled with bookshelves. The skylight is oval and domed over with a retractable roof, leaving just electrical lighting. The furniture is baroque and old. This room seems incongruous in the otherwise very modern building - an import from another time.
Eli thought that was kinda neat, maybe they were planning a big redesign, who knows? Mostly it'd be nice to get a reprieve from that awkward social scene. He unpacked his sketchbook and flipped through it idly. Wellll.. he was a little too distracted to draw. Maybe he could just check out his feed. Eli- "Whoa... haha. I don't understand it, but it's funny."
(ORIGINALLY...)Eli was briefly stunned as strode into the library. It was so different from the rest of the mansion that it caught him off guard. He briefly wondered what Marchese was thinking when he chose such decor for the place - the design was...unusual. Oh well, maybe he had a hankering for crusty old things. Oh well, Eli paid it no mind as he was a man on a mission. He had visions to bring to life. Eli plopped down at a nearby table and whipped out his two sketchbooks, along with a few pencils. "Hmm....Should I do something in the illustration book, or the realism book?" He mumbled to himself.
"Well...I don't want anyone actually rifling through that. I'll just tuck it away for a bit..."
After making his decision, Eli stashed his illustration sketchbook back into his bag. It was too personal. It held his hopes, dreams, and the occasional sexydudes making out. It held a piece of his soul - a very sexy piece at times. If anyone saw that, it might make things awkward. Eli hated causing awkwardness. 'Keep it casual. No one wants to see more than necessary.'
Eli flipped to the first empty page and reached for his pencil. What would he draw? 'Maybe I could do something for Yield', he considered. Maybe it could represent female sexuality. Perhaps...a woman with a tampon up her nose being surrounded by clams?

After hanging out with Quinn for a bit, Trileon headed into the dim library, where she found Eli. "Oh, hey. You're here."
Leo found a spot on the floor, somewhat near Eli, but moreso in a dark corner. There was a book entitled 'The Science of Black Holes' in her hands. "Yo."
Eli- "Word, homeslice. Hey look at this dog, it goes crazy for baloney slices. Hahaha, look at it go."
Eli- "Kinda neat place, isn't it? Wonder what it's like to live in a place with ceilings this high.
Eli- "Oh hey, is Chloë back yet? Wonder what's up with her tonight."
(ORIGINALLY...)Eli looked up from his sketchbook and closed it. He'd made some good progress on his sketches, so he figured now was as good a time as any to take a break. Besides, he was curious. "I guess I did leave rather abruptly."
"Anyways...how do you feel about this place? The design choice for the library is interesting." He paused for a moment before continuing. "I do wonder how Chloe ended up here, though." 'I hope that wasn't too personal. I don't want to start any drama about Chloe.'

Leo shrugged and merely smiled. She wasn't much of an architect. "I don't want to bash this guy Machese's choices, but I know I wouldn't have picked that type of wallpaper." At the mention of Chloe, however, her look turned harsh and unforgiving. "Between you and me dude, I think it has something to do with that Wilhelm guy." Trileon uses her hands for emphasis.
Eli- "What? I dunno, he's Grauish or whatever, I think they're just like that."
"I was talking to Chloe in the spa some time ago. To me, it seems like she doesn't like the guy. I feel like she's.. hiding something, but I just can't figure out what." Eli finally stashed his phone. Eli- "Wow, really? I dunno, if you're super worried, we can poke around. Let's just not get caught. We don't want to ruin this by being paranoid."
(ORIGINALLY...) "I know, right? And what is he to her, exactly? Her boyfriend? But he has to have like ten years on her, at least."
"I mean, I wouldn't even care if it was just that, but she looks sick. She could barely walk. I've been to parties, I know what that means. Weird guy takes home a pretty girl who looks like she can barely stay awake." Eli had seen a lot since he went away to college. Rape happened more often than anyone would admit. It was one thing that angered him greatly. Just the thought got him hyped up. He didn't want anyone to experience that kind of pain. "We need to figure out what's going on. And call the police, if that's what it comes to."
Before he knew it, he was standing, fist raised. Eli didn't like getting too personal, and maybe he was being too intrusive. But rape was a big deal, and he couldn't let somebody be harmed. He couldn't live with himself if something happened to Chloe, not if he could help somehow.

Trileon rose to her feet as she talked. If something happened to Chloe, she'd flip shit! The book she was reading a moment ago was crammed into a random shelf, and she tightened the spa robe, tying it off in a fierce knot. "Fuck yeah man! Detectives Eli and Leo!" She pauses, thinking for a second,'But we can't let anyone else know we're snooping. The second August catches wind of what we are doing, no doubt he'll try to stop us. That man will do anything to make sure a business opportunity goes right, and us scoping out this joint might get in the way of that."
Eli- "Well, sure... but seriously, let's not get caught." (ORIGINALLY...)
"You're probably right. We should keep things on the down low, especially before we have any concrete proof."
"I know August will be super bummed if something happens, but it's not about the money. It's about safety. If she gets hurt, that's our fault."
"We should look around, while we have free reign of the place. Maybe we can find something. Later, we'll talk to Chloe. Maybe we can squeeze more out of her, if we're careful." Eli quickly shoved his pencils and sketchbook back into his bag and swung it over his shoulder. "I guess here's as good a place as any to start. Do you see anything out of place? Maybe he has some evil books or something." 'A giant, flashing arrow stating 'Here's where I keep my evil plans' would be great right about now.'

Eventually, someone intruded... Servant Guy- "Lady and gentleman, a feast awaits you. Come to the dining room..."
Eli- "Oh sure, thanks a lot..."
The man then left, so they had a moment... Eli- "Well, maybe we should poke around after dinner, huh?" (ORIGINALLY...)The conversation was getting intense, but eventually, someone intruded...The man then left, so if they wanted to look for evil books, they had a moment...
Eli was surprised by the entrance of the servant. He had to stop himself from jumping. "A-alright. Thank you." Eli turned to Leo. "Leo, we'll look for that art later. Maybe Chloe can help us find it." He moved forward slightly and waited for Leo to follow. He didn't want to go it alone.

As soon as the servant leaves, Leo lightly kicks the table Eli was sitting at in frustration. "Damn, the worst timing.." Trileon looks at Eli and throws an arm around his shoulder for reassurance."I got you man, don't worry."
Eli- "What? Dude, I'm okay... You were the one that was-- *sigh* " (ORIGINALLY...) "I-I guess we better go. We'll figure things out later."
Eli smiled sadly at Leo before moving towards the exit

Trileon followed, her grip around his shoulder a bit tight. Perhaps it wasn't that hard to tell she was nervous too.
Eli- "Ha, come on. Don't chicken out now. We can just dive in the ocean to escape the cops. I don't think there are sharks in Glenland anymore... Just, uh, lots of pollution."

While Leo and Eli were excitedly plotting, facing away from the door as not to be heard (their voices carried anyhow), neither of them noticed Trevor standing there. He wasn't even trying to hide. Trevor - 「おっとっとっ。。。」
Seeing more than he intended, Trevor heads downstairs, and passes the servant on the way to dinner.
A time later, Eli came back in investigation mode.
Eli- "Not sure what she's expecting... Oh well. What've they got around here?" He idly scanned the bookshelves.(ORIGINALLY...) Eli entered the library from the atrium and went to town. He moved towards the shelves, moving books around. He looked for any loose papers or things of remark.
"What kind of books would a ne'er do well keep?" He paused a moment. It was a good question. He could really only look for the obvious...
"Titles with rape, murder, demon sacrifice...I guess that about covers it."
"A switch! A secret switch! I bet they'd have that, too. The ones where you pull the book down and - bam! - evil lair."
After his revelation, he continued scouring the stacks.

Eli almost didn't know what to make of the books. Many of them seemed utterly random, but usually in perfect sequence. For example, there'd be a set of encyclopedias from sixty years ago, written to a primary school level of reading. And a series of tariff rates for international sea trade - a collection of tomes four feet long and twenty years out of date.
Finally it occurred to him that most of the books on the shelves were just there to look "booky." Eli- "Bleh, all this money and no taste." He glanced around the room for any obvious upside-down sceptres or other items of intrigue. There was nothing here. It was as the room had barely been inhabited. There were no clues to be found. Eli- "Yeeeeah I did my best. Hope Leo hasn't been arrested already..." He wandered back to the atrium.(ORIGINALLY...) He quickly started ignoring them more completely and focusing on jumbled-looking areas of singles.
Eli was frustrated. There was nothing here. It was as the room had barely been inhabited. There were no clues to be found. "Dammit, who even reads this crap?" He threw a worn book titled 'The History of Cheese' on the ground in frustration.
"Ugh, I guess it's back to the atrium for me. Maybe Leo's figured things out..." He dejectedly made his way back to the atrium.

Later, people began returning to the library... Cameron- "*sigh* Why isn't this night over yet?"
Brent- "That's no way to be, Cam! We have not yet begun to drink."
Courtney- "..."

Ru- "I can always drive you home, if you want a lift." He spoke in a softer tone, and seemed less concerned with vanishing and reappearing appropriately. He was at this time, quite serious. He looked in the direction of the cars far away, and then examined the rest of the crew.
They had yet to talk about movie deals, but August and Babette were the real stars today. He could probably melt into the shadows and no one would know the difference.

"It's not looking good, guys. We've made a crappy impression and been crappy friends. There's still hope though. My ma always said there was nothing that couldn't be fixed with a heartfelt apology, or a gun….err never mind..." It was going so well too, they were probably calling Lloyd right now. Eli- "Dang guys, I feel like this is my fault. I kinda swung things into a conversation... I just wanted to-- *sigh* No, it doesn't matter. But hey, we're not kicked out yet, right?"
(ORIGINALLY...) "I am so sorry. I had no idea things would turn out this way. I wish I hadn't said anything."
"Jason and I will make this right...We'll find a way to fix this."
If only he knew how...

Quinn set himself off to the side by a bookshelf, running a thumb idly over the spine of an older looking piece of text. His shoulders were drawn up a bit defensively...just a natural reaction to the uncomfortable circumstances they found themselves in. "To be honest, I'm not entirely sure this party is a good idea anymore. Perhaps we should just say our apologies to Chloe and head home? If we see Chloe again, that is. She's seemed so...out of it all evening."
Eli- "Man, it's gonna be awkward as hizzy, but I think we need to work this out. Chloë's having some kind of issue, and we can't just leave her hanging. I think we can all get past this." (ORIGINALLY...) "Maybe you're right, but we should at least try to make amends. I don't think a bit of awkwardness is a reason to completely shun friends."
"We got a bit too involved in an artistic debate. Surely we can fix something like that."

When Sophie sees that others have started to pile into the library, she turns back and stands a few feet from the doorway. She takes out her phone to call a cab. Her phone is dead. Because of course. She sighs and returns to the library, finding a chair as far away from the others as possible. She pulls her necklace out from underneath her shirt and fiddles with the pendant, turning it over and over and not making eye contact with anyone. Eli- "Hey Sophie, sorry that was stressful. Everyone's kind on edge tonight, but we're all friends still, right?"
(ORIGINALLY...)Eli saw Sophie and felt a pang of remorse. He had royally screwed up. It had been a while since he last did something so stupid...Probably when he carried that guy, princess style, out of a pool. But, at least he had thought someone was in peril then. Now, he was just plain stupid. "Sophie...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings."
"But regardless of that, I did and...I'm really, really sorry. I was stupid."
