Get yourself up that hill nammit!! I'm enjoying the bizarre fact that percentage-wise I'm currently 'beating' everyone.

I have it planned so elegantly that I'll finish the 50K one minute before midnight on November 30th. Just admit it. You're numbah one.

Those are great! I bookmarked them for when I have time to get back to writing.

Yeah these links are incredibly helpful, I love how they tell you how to avoid cliche. Hahaha yess!! It became weirdly easier once I hit the halfway mark, it may be that I have to do a quarter of the words for my percentages too. Although my story is definitely not going to end at 25,000. I think it may have at least another 10,000 in it. I blocked it out so there's bits that gotta happen to bring it to the end.

@ Brett-- I didn't even know I needed those links until I found them! @ Indea-- You can do it! Let me know if you want to increase your goal count. You are sooo close, I know you can finish your story too.

Someone tell me about these "word clouds". The size of the words in the cloud indicate the frequency of their appearance in the text, right? Is it one specific program that makes them? Is there a cut & paste online word cloud generator? It seems like it might be a useful tool for me in the future, to make sure I am not relying on certain words too much.
Another tool that might be helpful is just a word count generator that counts the frequency of all words that appear in the entire text and produces a table that is importable into Excel or OpenOffice.

Hey Brett, if you go to wordle and create a word cloud, you can click 'language' on the bar, and at the very bottom 'word count', and it gives you a list of the words you use that you can arrange by frequency. It's a lil buggy though, so there's probably a better program out there. I've been looking for word cloud alternatives, esp. one that lets you compare two different works so I can compare my work to professional ones and see what I'm doing differently. You have to log in to this site w/facebook/google etc, but it's very good. You don't have to use the pay service because the free one is so expansive: prowritingaid.com/en/Analysis/EditorIt has a bunch of different ways to analyze your writing, including my favorite which looks word words you're using reusing frequently close to one another. Maybe they'll be something useful to you there. Let me know if you find anything else good! I'm a fiend for this kinda stuff. :B PS I just found this one, it's mostly to make cute shapes and junk, but it's got the options to remove certain words, which is helpful. www.tagxedo.com/

@kelly- I'm torn on increasing it as I only have two days and either way I'll go over November to complete my story. I definitely want to try for 50,000 next year though. ;D I did a word cloud and apparently "just and like" are up there… yeah. It'll be fun sifting that out, makes my writing sound like a Valley girl from Clueless.

Blrgh. I think I'm too far behind to finish this month. I'll keep working on it when I get the time, 'though. 'cause it would be nice to finish eventually, at least.

OK then! Ye shan't win Ye Official HorrorBoys CoverArte Challenge, but you're an artist anyways, so it's not like you needed it. This sub-board will stay open for a while longer, because next month the 50K winners are gonna do NaNoEdMo to make the deadline for the free hardback cover from Lulu. After that, we can move your story over to our regular writing section, no problem. There's a cool story in progress over there by Trinity at present, plus stuff by DeeKender & myself in indefinite hiatus. I'll finish it, I swear!

@chris- Your last few posts on Camus have been amazing. You write emotion really well. Hell! You write incredibly well full stop. You should be published for real. You really create a real situation despite the surreal nature of the pigs and you really get caught up in it as the reader. I can't wait to see how it all ends.

Indea- Aww, thanks too much. ;D
DeeK actually has been published, if I remember that right. DeeK, did you use a pseudonym, or just a pseudopod?
I'm really proud of all our NaNo peeps here. I can't read the books of my "buddies" on NaNoWriMo's site, but even their word counts pale in comparison. And you guys are all great at what you do.
As for Indea, I'm glad at least one person who went for less than 50K is winning the HorrorBoys prize. Is it too early to ask what you want your cover to look like?
