He shakes his head. Ashley- "Sounds good to me."

Ben quietly demolished a clothing rack to scavenge a suitable stick, and then duct-taped a flare to it and lit it. Ben- "So, armless zombies, huh? I guess that means I'll get to see one of those 'arm-urchins' then?"

Kyle- "Yeah... We're pretty sure they're blind and brainless, so just avoid it or trap it under a table or something if you see one. They'll grab anything you poke at 'em, so be careful to not get tangled up."
Becky- "Alright. Everybody follow the crazy lady. Booga wooga." She zombie walked a little faster than others might have preferred, out a different door than the one they'd come in. They came from the dark and spooky clothing store into cavernous hall. Immediately, zombies started staring at them. Not wanting to meet that gaze, people did their best to keep a peripheral eye on them, as they followed Becky into the slightly illuminated central paths of the mall.
The sun from the skylights kept things a warm grey. Zombies lurched through the mall by the hundreds, and unlike the ones outside, about two thirds of them had no arms. Becky slowed a bit, swayed, lurched, continued. It seemed to work - none of the things attacked - but they were drawn by the flare, and began to converge behind the pretenders...
Joe reluctantly dropped his flare, and the mostly armless zombies formed a semi-circle around it, interested but afraid. More of the things still trailed behind Ben...

Ben had not anticipated that the zombie-walking would continue inside. Now it looked like he had made a flare-stick for nothing. And when pretending to be a zombie he couldn't really carry it properly either, since that probably would've looked too 'active'. Instead he was letting it dangle along his side, much like his bokken, and keeping his eyes down meant that he was pretty much looking straight into the flare. Not good. Ben- "Uhhhgh..." Ben let the flare-stick drop down onto his left foot to reduce the clatter, and from there it quickly rolled to the floor. And soon enough it was behind him.

Ashley wandered after them, keeping his mouth shut for the time being, and trying to avoid bumping into any of the zombies within. Was this some kind of security system for the Mummy? Why didn't he just put more of his demon dead or something worse down here, like superghosts?
The worst was yet to come, he could feel. And what was it that the others could feel earlier? He didn't know. He wandered on and tried not to concentrate on their faces.

The flares actually proved a very useful distraction, thinning the zombies that followed them down to just a few. Most of them were either drawn by the flares, or the movement of other zombies drawn to the flares, creating a useful chain reaction. And it was at least bright enough in these main halls to see a ghost coming, so things could be worse, considering how daring and dangerous this mission was.
As they kept on, they heard a strange sound rising above the din of zombie shuffling and moans. Body parts, skeletons, and armless zombies were more frequent as they neared the food court. The sound... almost indescribable. Heavy. Thumping. Scraping. Slopping. An occasional clang of furniture being crashed into or something.
Most of all, rhythmic, and immobile. The sound increased as they neared the source, but didn't make a sudden jump or decrease in volume as if it was headed in any given direction. Something was there - where they were headed - thumping away, oblivious.
It was very loud now, and almost certainly coming from inside the food court. The zombies seemed uninterested in this area of the mall, generally moving away. With little attention on them, Seth broke character, gesturing for people to hide with him in a jeweler shop just around the corner from the noise. Joe lit up a flare again, the pink light sparkling on broken glass and disarray around them. ((Though if anyone is interested, there's totally thousands of dollars worth of diamond jewelry that got missed by looters here.)) Seth- "Listen, we gotta expect there's gonna be more of those rolly Human Centipede things in there. Maybe even a real big one. They're pretty hard to deal with, but they're pretty dumb too, not like they got eyes. I don't think we need to bother with killing them if we don't need to, we just gotta investigate, and stay safe."

Stevie- "Yeah... Sounds good to me."
Kyle- "I guess it's time to drop the actin' and get down to business. Kill any zombies in the way?"
Becky- "They seem... afraid of the place?"
Joe- "What if the mummy is down there, right now?"
Beau- "We need to capture it if we can. Kill if we must-- but maybe we can interrogate, find out more."
Seth- "Only if it's like that scene in Reservoir Dogs."

Patti- "Haven't seen that film..." Patti stood behind a counter, in the small space of the shop. She listened intently to the planning. She was momentarily distracted, picked something up, squirreling it away in her jacket, and returned her full attention to the group.

Ashley hadn't forgotten the previous bomb incidence. He nodded with the others, but wasn't sure exactly what they could threaten a gutted teenage mummy with that would frighten him. Well, either way, if they could capture him alive, he seemed frail enough, providing he didn't have a lot of mystical magic on hand like a demonic Harry Potter.
He took out his crowbar and held it at the ready, and looked at the others as if wondering if now was flare time. He'd prefer not to waste anything.

Joe- "Take a flippin' flare, Becky. You don't even have a pointed stick."
Becky- "I don't, but I have this bracelet that says it's worth twenty-five hundred bucks." Ben looked around at the fancy jewellery and considered how it might actually be worth something, even during the apocalypse. And almost certainly after the apocalypse, if it would ever come to an end. But it didn't seem like the best time to weigh himself down with loot, and it wasn't as if he knew what would be worth taking anyway. In fact, weight was probably a much smaller concern than the time it would take to grab each little piece of jewellery. It wasn't like he'd brought along an bag that he could just empty a tray of rings into, armed robbery style. Ben- "So, how do we capture the mummy? Just grab him and have one or two guys tied up holding him? Should we spread out to prevent him from catching all of us at the same time with some telekinetic blast, or wouldn't that matter?"
Joe- "We can't know what he can or will do until we get there, but that sounds like a good plan."
Stevie- "Yeah! We see his ass, we spread out and hit 'em from all angles..." Everyone lit a flare who was going to ((PCs decide for yourselves, Ben had time to make a new flare stick if so desired - poles are easy in an abandoned mall)), and the posse bobbed their heads around the corner like giant deadly meerkats. They immediately saw the thing.
Down the hall at the food court entrance, light streamed through the doors out and the skylight above, showing some kind of truly immense snake-like creature, thrashing in place, so large they could only see a small part of it through the broad hall. It was at least six to eight feet thick with an irregular surface, and judging by its movements (because its full length was not visible), it was at least fifty feet long - maybe more. As it thrashed it pounded the floor with its massive weight and shoved around debris like nothing. Odd bits of it would fall off from the violence.

Seth- "Omigod.... Seriously?"
Beau- "Disgusting."
Seth- "If that thing touches me I'm going to barf, or die, or barf and then die."

Ashley stared at the vast thing. He had an idea, perhaps, of what it was, and the thought would have made him laugh if it wasn't right there, threatening them with imminent death. 'Mummyboy presents: 'Snake' in arms.'
He wondered if it was some kind of other beast, god, or creature of death but the slouthing thing was just too odd for that. No, this was his guardian and a monster of epic size, and likely the thing they were going to have to try to sneak past. He snuck a little closer.
Know they enemy.

Was that really a centipede made out of zombie arms? Ben- "Is he trying to scare us to death?" Ben didn't think his bokken would be very effective. Or a flare. Maybe if they could douse the thing with gasoline it could eventually be destroyed by fire? But that would probably take some time. And a lot of gasoline.

Ashley- "We're going to have to try to go around it, obviously, unless one of you has a bomb." He offers, in his best hushed voice. That thing was massive, and one move could easily crush them to death.
