Patti- "Hmm, good points, Ben. I guess we need to see what's going on tonight, in case they decide to move along over night or in the morning. Still, losing messengers can't be an uncommon occurrence for them, so it seems unlikely that there would be a big deal made about this one disappearing."

He seemed relatively undisturbed by the nature scene, but not keen to stick around either. He looked down at his watch. Seth- "Good thinking everybody, hm... About six hours til the sun sets completely. The bikes really helped getting out here quick. Uh, could you...?" Stevie and Joe went ahead onto the overpass that led to the mall, and destroyed some zombies while the others plotted. Stevie cut the tops of heads off with his katana, and Joe kicked them over the edge to Interstate 405 below. Seth looked up at the mall, now visible in front of them as they rolled their bikes onto the overpass behind the fighting guys. He seemed annoyed. Seth- "On second thought, let's do the zombie walk." The mall parking lot was full of zombies. The things were slow enough and crowd dynamics were such that it seemed luring them away would require buzzing them repeatedly, corralling, and other difficulties. The zombie walk - if it succeeded - would be quicker. Seth- "I watched you guys do it, and I think it's easier than Dr. Bebe said. Just avoid eye contact and move slow, like when you don't want to get noticed or beat up by humans. We leave the bikes on the bridge here.
We have two radios, so we'll do two teams. If it gets messed up, try to stay with your team, and either fall back, or run and hide in the mall - whichever makes sense depending on how far you got.
When we get inside, go to the first shady-looking spot on the left, and hide there until we can all group up. If one group is in and the other is out, we'll use the radios to plan the next move.
I'll take Stevie, Kyle, Ben, and Beau on my team, the rest of you guys on team two. Don't touch a gun until you're inside, and even then think twice about it. Let's not use flares until we're well inside as well. Remember we can impale ghosts too, if we have long enough weapons.
This is it, dudes. Patti, you have the radio. Anything anyone wants to say before we get funky?" ((Wording subject to change as Kelly becomes available. He's working on comics again. Anyhow, Seth is his character and I'm putting words in his mouth just to move things along, for the moment. But the substance will be the same, so go ahead and respond to it.))(Sounds fine to me! Thx bro ---Kelly)

Ben nodded. Ben- "All right. Sounds like a plan." He wondered if his bokken would be long enough to impale a ghost, and if he would be able to find a long enough stick once he was inside. Time would tell.

Ashley nods his head.
He had said more than enough for this trip, he was sure. If the mummy was in the mall, then they were prepared to make it there and drag him back out. It would just take some time to zombie shamble over there first.
Ben's idea was a good one, and so was Patti's, and admittedly they weren't even sure if the mummy was still there, but it was a good shot. He inhaled deeply and then readied himself to follow.

Patti nods her consent to Seth's plan and begins mentally planning a shambolic path to her destination.

Peeps rested their bikes on kickstands and guardrails and such. Stevie- "Alright! Let's do this thing!"
Kyle- "No giggling, OK lady?"
Becky- "I'm serious as a heart attack. Keehee."
Joe- "Yeah... This so isn't going to work, but you'll just have to see for yourself, won't you?"
Seth- "Oh ye of little faith..."
Beau- "Into the bag, mon chou..."
Chou- "*whine*" Beau tucked the dog in a capacious backpack and hoisted him. The adventurers set out! There was 500 feet to the closest entrance, through a parking lot with hundreds of zombies in it, and only a few dozen cars worth of obstacles for them. Getting out onto the concrete, there were probably a thousand zombies within line of sight. To the east there was a large, ambiguous black pile of something. The air smelled like death, far worse than on the highway.
Seth's group set to staggering first, then Patti's. At first, a few zombies seemed more interested in them than they would have preferred, but they kept their heads cool and didn't let their act down. They were one with the horde... As part of the act, it was easiest to focus on one of the lead guys. Just keep that person's ass in your sight and don't eye contact a zombie for even a second. Ben was following Beau, marveling at how still the dog stayed in that backpack. Beau didn't bother moving shambolically - just stayed painfully slow and avoidant. Ben saw zombies get so close... It was extremely disturbing. If they decide to mob, no way to avoid getting touched now...
Patti wasn't using a focal point, trying to use her plotting to pick a path. The crowd dynamics were hard to predict, but she'd done well, and didn't come within several feet of a zombie until she was nearing the sidewalk. The zombie was a blackened blood-covered security guard with no arms.
Ashley used Patti as his focal point, but it was a tricky path to tread. Zombies came close enough he could hardly resist the urge to kick them away...
((Describe your journey a bit.))

Ben was glad he had his helmet. It wouldn't help much if the zombies turned on them, but it was an extra layer between him and them. Following someone without paying attention to his surroundings turned out to be an easy thing to do, but yeah, the pace was painfully slow. It just didn't feel natural to move so slowly. Ben's body knew it could walk faster, so he had to keep from getting impatient. Think zombie thoughts.
Why were they moving at all? Was it some sort of residual 'wave' after earlier stimuli, where some zombies had moved, and other zombies reacted to that movement, and that reaction bouncing around? No! Don't think! Thinking would just encourage his legs to get moving faster. Just listen to the clouds...
One small step for mankind after another.

Ashley made his face look as bored and dumb as he could. Honestly it wasn't that much different than his normal expression, but that didn't cross his mind. He stumbled about 10 feet after Patti, and had to catch himself from bumping into a zombie and getting a face first view of the nauseating stench and rotten black blood. He had never smelled so much blood in his life, and so close. It was very possible some of his stumbling wasn't quite so much acting as being on the gentle side with his stomach.
He resisted the urge to punch a zombie who bumped into him violently...but there were too many around them. They ignored him like they ignored the animals. This was good. he could live that way. He would survive...He hoped this didn't go sour. All but one of his people he held most dear were here. Concentrate...relax...survive...
His bag was covered in bile and thick black blood from one who had wandered into him. He was slathered..buried...Keep stumbling.

Patti felt like she had to go all in on this one. She got the feeling the most important part was to not look around at all and to definitely not make eye contact.
Still, the zombie act was amusing her and this was likely going to be the most dangerous thing she had ever done in her life. Might as well make the most of it.
Her route she had picked out worked pretty well for her. She hadn't come within ten feet of a zombie yet and still hadn't drawn undue attention for that tactic.
She worried about the others, but figured if something had gone wrong, she'd be hearing a ruckus behind her.
She half dragged her left foot and cocked her head forward and to the left. She locked her eyes on the knees and midriffs of the walking dead and occasionally let out a guttural groan when she "accidentally" bumped into an object.
The dead seemed more dense closer to the building, but she kept to her method and started veering towards their designated entrance.

Staggering into darkness, several zombies followed them in. It wasn't the desperate pursuit of hunger, but simply a case of zombie see, zombie do. The pretenders tried to mill around, misdirect, and otherwise shake off the tail, before assembling in the first relatively private area to the left. It was difficult in the dark and heedless of their efforts, at least six zombies had followed them pretty closely. When they were pretty confident it wouldn't draw down the horde, they put the dead down quickly. Stevie- "Say good night, Gracie." It turned out the closest entrance had been to a department store, and the rendezvous spot on the left was a small forest of ladies clothing racks. They could hear distant thumps and shuffling - zombies throughout the mall. Still, it seemed safe to finally start talking quietly, and everybody had made it inside without incident. Kyle- "Wow, that was pretty amazing. Who woulda thought that'd work?"
Becky- "Keeheehee."
Joe- He lit a flare. "It's too dark in here. We're gonna get ghosts, and I don't care if the zombies in here can see this."
Seth- "Yeah, fine, for the moment. Now let's figure out how we wanna do this..."
Beau- "Tranquille, Chou."
Beau's backpack- "*whine*"
Kyle- "Hey, anybody else see the armless zombie?"
Becky- "Oh yeah, she was sad."
Kyle- "Um... I was talking about a man zombie. Black guy in bicycle gear."

Ashley approached Seth closely and waited for an answer. Why had he gone with them this time anyways? He wasn't sure why half the council was here, including Ben, and yet it made sense if they were important, perhaps they should do important things and help the community for once.
He sighed, and shifted his grip on his crowbar.

Ashley- "I think we need light in here to avoid death by stairs or falling...or ghosts... I think I agree even though it would make us visible. Other than that, I'll back up who needs it."

Seth- "OK... Alright, if it's like Columbia Center, they set up a butcher shop in a restaurant. Seems like there's more than one restaurant around here, though - They aren't all just in the food court. Still, I like the idea of starting in the food court, just in case it's that obvious. There's probably a map out there, but so we don't have to stand around reading it, is anyone here familiar with this mall?"
Stevie- "Not in the dark. Used to be pretty fun. Lots of different people, crowded, sheisty little kiosks everywhere..."
Becky- "I went to Foster High for a short time, used to come here when I skipped. I could lead the way."
Seth- "Fantastic. Same teams. Patti, you guys generally stay right. We'll stay generally left, but we'll all be following Becky's lead. Ben, light one flare. When we get out there, if it looks like the flares will draw too many zombies, we'll just drop 'em behind us. When we get to the food court, we'll get behind the counter at the first place on the left and plan from there.
Anything else?"
He waited for last minute input from anyone.
