Ashley does not try to argue with any of them, it was not worth it. They would not be persuaded. If anything they had more of a chance out there. He shot Micah a look. A LOOK. Damn Johnson couldn't even be respectful when the others were leaving. He touched the scar on his face. It gave him an unhandsome, almost hairlipped appearance, and that bothered him. He was too much of a man for that scar removal crap before the end of the world. Now it was too late. He watched the others leave and frowned as they left. None of them had seemed indecent to him. What had happened in just two days? Was all of that necessary? He puzzled and fretted...

Kenny- "Fuuck."
He stood still, Ione whined.
Ione- "Let's go!"
Kenny got out of the truck.
Kenny- "I don't wanna talk to anybody. Susie... let's go upstairs."
Susie- "Mm-hm."
Ione- "Huh!"
Derek- "The fuck man! God!"
He went to step out of the truck, and to move around to the driver's side, but was stopped by Hector.
Hector- "I'll drive, man. I mean, fuck it."
Volya- "Yeah! Fucks it. He'll totally drive. I... wait, what?"
Hector- "I don't give a shit about all this homophobia stuff, but I can't be here. I gotta go."
Volya- "Wait, um... I don't, wait. Huh?"
Hector- "You wanna get in the back, mang?"
Volya- "...I... Gots... a... thing to do.... Hector! You should help me with this... thing."
Hector- "I gotta go, mang."
He turned on the engine. Kenny, Susie and Lilla headed for the stairs, leaving Bryce and Volya standing in a mist of confusion near the driver's side.
Seth made his way over to Hector's side of the truck.
Seth- "You sure you wanna go?"
Hector- "Yeah mang. I feel trapped. Gonna drink myself to death if I stay."
Seth nodded to him.
Seth- "Be safe out there. There's some other enclaves around if you need one."
Hector- "Yeah..."
Ione- "Stop talking to President Queer-bo and step on it!"
Seth rolled his eyes and stepped away from the truck, and over to Bryce.
Bryce just stood, agape. Anna picked up a charred femur from the ground and threw it angrily at the truck. It bounced off the cab and into the truckbed.
Sarah- "Oh, you shouldn't touch that stuff with your hands. Where did you even find that?"
Anna- "Guess I'm just a cavewoman. Fuck. GRRRR!!" She stomped angrily in place.(OOC: If you wanted to have your character insert any commentary, I can edit it in!)

"Anna, be polite, please." He reminds her, as he felt the need to keep order, even here. He watched the other two go in the meanwhile, unsure why they decided to go. He couldn't say he'd miss Hector, that troublemaker... But to go to his likely death was a little bit too cruel. Anna- "grrr!"

The truck rumbled smoothly, a re-awakening creature. It rolled out to the street, Terry avenue. Where would they go? Beau- "It is madness to use the car. The roads are filled with debris..."
Sarah- "I don't think there's anything about that expedition that isn't madness."
Anna- "*whistle* Hey Ukraine, let's close this gate."
Volya- "...Yeah."
They started closing the barricade.
Seth looked to Bryce. He looked confused, and just trudged over.
Bryce- "I don't know. The hell is going on..."
Seth- "I hope this isn't the start of something worse. I can't handle it. I can't handle this.."
Bryce shook his head, wet-eyed.
Sarah- "Ione! She was stupid, arrogant, but even so, it's just unbelievable."
Beau- "Extraordinary circumstances lead to strange and terrible behavior, sadly. I am always sad to see it."
Sarah- "You're gonna have to tell us everything. We haven't seen anything like this before. Most of our neighbors are pretty cool."
Beau- "I 'ope it is not just luck that it doesn't 'appen before. I like to imagine I only 'ave unluck, and it is not inevitable."
Sarah- "I hope the unluck doesn't rub off on people."
Beau- "I 'ope not as well... Sad to think I bring it with me."
Sarah- "I was kidding, I don't believe in luck."
Beau- "Haha. I didn't before either.
Anna and Volya came back.
Anna- "Well, alright. Time to go put out some fires."
Sarah- "Not literally I hope, though would it even be surprising by this point?"
Anna- "Yeah this day really went into the shitter."
Volya was glum and said nothing.
People began moving back to the stairs. Beau collared Seth before he got to the stairs.
Beau- "May I speak with you in privacy?"
Seth- "Oh, yeah. Sure."

((By the fact no one has checked in on this scene, I'm going to assume both Micah and Ashley are done with it, and have headed upstairs...))
After Lilla, Susie, & Kenny went upstairs and Derek, Hector, & Ione drove off, Volya, Sarah, Anna, Micah, and Ashley headed in. Seth, Bryce, and Beau were trailing behind when Beau got Seth's attention. Bryce politely stayed some distance away in the alley, leaning his head on the wall waiting for them.

Later that night...
Beau, Chou and Del ran outside in the darkness, Del was armed with a broomstick club, and handed Beau a high powered flashlight. They took off running, Beau had to orient himself, remembering where he'd seen the figures. They must have been on Aurora.
Beau called to his dog. Beau- "Cherche!" The dog sniffed the air, and ran in the direction Beau expected. They came to the fenced barricade, and Chou whined, running along it. Del started to open the fence, but Beau clambered over it before he could open it fully, and helped pull it open from the other side. Del- "Damn damn damn!" Chou ran ahead while Beau helped Del get the fence closed. The dog waited in the distance, as they ran to catch up. Dark figure of zombies undulated in the beam of light, but the men ignored them as they ran after the white dog. Two blocks west, they came to a clot of car wreckage, and the dog seemed confused, crouching at the blockade of cars and looking to his master. Chou- "*wheen!*" Several dark figures loomed, but it was not them they were looking for. Zombies shuffled and grabbed at two figures which shakily clambered over the tops of the dented and rusted cars. Beau- " Here!"
He waved the flashlight at the shaky figures. The humans staggered raggedly in their direction, looking almost zombie-like. The lady had long hair matted to an over-sized army jacket, dark stains all about her. The tall Asian man was panting and desperate eyed. Del ran past them and ran up to the first zombie he could see, leaping into the air, kicking it in the chest. It flew back into another zombie, knocking them down. Beau jumped on the hood of a car, trying to be careful as he maneuvered over them, but slipped and stumbled a few times on the irregular surfaces. He came to the staggering figures, and offered a hand. Neither accepted, just throwing themselves over the wreckage as best they could.
Lady- "..."
Tall man- "Where-- *pant* What--"
Beau- "Close, two blocks." Another zombie got close to Del, and he crushed its face, shoving it in the direction of yet another zombie. He turned back, thinking to just stroll after his Beau and the others, but realized they were running away as fast as they could. He hustled after them.
Del- "It's just a couple of zombies!"

For the first time, 403 inhabitants directly beheld the wreckage that had allowed the zombie infiltration. How had anyone slept through the utter dismantling of the building's fortifications? It must have been supernaturally quieted.
Previously, the building had piles of patio furniture and other such things clustered around the entrances. Those ways in also had the locks broken and were further barricaded with board and more furniture inside. Now, the lawn furniture was scattered around the street, the doors hung wide open, and the furniture that was blocking things inside had also been yarded out into the street and scattered. This included the entrance to the apartment foyer, the entrance to the retail space / old bank, and the furthest north entrance to Zaitun / the clinic.
Over a dozen zombies milled around near the entrance, lives lacking any special direction or meaning until Ben & friends came around the corner. Stevie- "We'll try to only let one or two at ya at a time, Ben. LET'S ROCK!"
Anna- "Quieter! Don't wanna draw any more from inside!"

Ben- "Why not draw them out from inside? That's how we usually do it. Saves the effort of dragging them out for the burning. And we're only three people. Two and a half with my busted foot. Seems to me it would be awesome if we could draw them out and lure them away to one of the barricades. Once we've got them hooked they'll just keep coming, and we can thumb our noses at them and dispatch them at our leisure." It wasn't the kind of heroic zombie action that a movie would require, but Ben didn't want to see more injuries. A limp was the worst kind of damage for dealing with zombies, as it negated the very important advantage of being able to move faster than they did. Didn't matter at the moment, but that could easily change.

Anna's point was made by the new zombies joining the dozen in the streets - it was a bit much for 2.75 people to handle. Perhaps it would have been better to kill the dozen before inviting more to join them.
But Anna and Stevie (and to some extent even Ben) were no longer your ordinary zombie slayers. Stevie and Ben had a few months of experience on the zombie genocide project and Anna was the leader of the Helldivers. Stevie had rather long legs for a man of his build and was faster than when they first started, walking quickly in and out of zombie clusters like a movie samurai, keeping them at bay with huge sweeps of the sword, and taking off heads - or parts of heads - whenever he got an opening. Anna jogged back and forth between them, almost all of her strikes hitting the witless creatures from behind - CLOP with the mallet...
They were a good distraction, but Ben still ended up with four coming at him at once...

Ben- "Oh no..." Ben started to retreat up the street. With his sprained ankle, the risk of getting overwhelmed was just too great for a direct confrontation. All he had to do was to get to a barricade and climb up. Then he'd be safe. Though it seemed likely that either Stevie or Anna might find the time to get to these four before he made it that far.

He could go faster than zombies even with a sprained ankle, but it felt like he was injuring himself to do so and would regret it tomorrow. Well, unless it turned out to save his life, which it probably would.
There! A minivan! It had one of those weird sloping hoods where he could plant his good foot and use it to spring up the rest of the way onto the roof. He did it! Haha.
Zombies scrambled up after him. This time he had the high ground.

One on one with a height advantage was just what the doctor ordered. Ben hit the zombie man's skull with enough force to knock a person out, but a second blow was necessary to actually break the bone and make the dead guy rest in peace. Ben was still rattled and unfocused. He knew he could do this, but it still felt less than ideal to be forced into this kind of position.
Soon another one of the zombies started to find his way up. Ben- "Hey! Why don't you guys eat your fallen friend? You'd be like sharks! And sharks are cool. Zombies are not." Ben brought down the hardwood, slightly off the mark, skimming the surface of the side of the zombie's head. The glasses went flying to the left, and Ben quickly pulled up his bokken as the zombie reached for him. A solid hit smashed the skull, but that was way too close for Ben's liking. The last two of the bunch hadn't ended up in favourable positions for climbing the mini, but instead their reaching arms came from two different directions at the same time. Ben moved to the back of the roof, and with a mighty blow he brought the hat guy low. Huh. Looked like the hat hadn't provided much protection after all.
The balding zombie got close once again, but this time Ben could retreat to the other side of the car, forcing the zombie to shuffle around on the ground. At an opportune moment Ben struck the zombie down, perhaps resulting in the zombie becoming more powerful than Ben could ever imagine. But hopefully not!

Ben was able to hobble back to the battle as it ended. Now the streets had no upright zombies, and Stevie and Anna were waiting near the doors for anything else to emerge. Stevie- "Alright! So what's our aim here? Just one at a time 'em, or do we wanna get these doors sealed up? Maybe trick a bunch into coming outside, then get behind 'em and close the doors?" A zombie staggered out of the door in front of Stevie and he sliced its head off like a pro, kicking the body aside to let more out. The head rolled off the curb. Anna- "Shit, I didn't think that far." She looked down the street at the sound of gunshots from inside another building, then back. "If that's at Pan-Pac, then Jalil's guys might be available to help us clean up house here. Hell, I don't know. Maybe just get to work."
