(Alex can get into the 6th floor thread now, after everyone's shot that's gonna be shot, and so on.) Shortly after Alex takes off, a sound of gun shots rings out! It's hard for the doctors to make out where they came from, but it sounds like outside, maybe around the block? Somehow more muffled than if it was immediately in front of the building.Dr. Bebe- "Should we wait for work to come to us? Maybe I should get GSW stuff ready in the clinic and you can check that out. However you like."

The doctor shook his head, grabbing the essentials and quickly stuffing them into his jacket. "Get some of the bigger equipment and carry it up. I doubt, especially with a GSW, we have much time to wait some fool bringing them down 6 flights of stairs at worse. And, that way when we emerge upstairs panting like lunatics, and no one is shot, we can gloat and demand they keep the elevator running, hmm?" Dr. Victor nodded slowly and began to bound the stairs just outside the clinic. Waiting is for losers.

Dr. Bebe- "What if that sound came from the alley? OK... I'll be up shortly." She gathered herself quickly, abandoning the weapon to better carry essential equipment. As quick as she was, Doc Vic was out way ahead of her.

Doc Vic arrived to find the main area of the kitchen/clinic empty. A significant light source had been moved. He went into the walk-in freezer - of course now room temperature - and found Bebe as expected. Abdul was face down, with a section of the base of his skull removed, and a few sections cut into his back near the spine. The light source was no longer angled toward him though - it was on a counter space, where a few small jars were filled with a black substance. Bebe was running crude tests on samples, for lack of a microscope. Dr. Bebe- "Dr. Victor! We have ectoplasm! This ghost was a juicy one."

The doctor appraised her work nodding slowly. He tested for scent before grabbing a mask and closing the door slightly. "Good, I suppose. It enters the skin through the dermis then... well, I guess I will have to get a detailed report of what happened. I guess Seth, from his demeanor, was a prime witness. I had hoped it entered through mucus tissues, like eyes-nose-mouth. It would make it more reasonable for why it attempts to, well, paralyze with fear." Dr. Melange showed off the flammability of the stuff by holding a light swab of it near a candle's flame, where it sparked and ignited. Dr. Bebe- "Oh, this ectoplasm was all collected externally. A similar amount could be found on Mr. Clemans as well. She was a juicy one, spraying this stuff everywhere. I didn't see any obvious places where it might have entered the victim..."
The doctor moved over to the corpse, sticking a gloved finger into the cavity where the bullets entered or exited from. "I think it would be best to tell the others he died from the ghost... even if it isn't the case. I don't want anyone to accuse the leader of doing anything less than what was necessary to protect us." Dr. Bebe- "It was the case! He was already dead when Seth shot him. The ghost killed by touch, as advertised. According to Mr. Leighton, she emerged from the elevator shaft with a light glow and a less messy appearance - as a 'mute ghost' - and passed through the living without significant harm. After she went to the patio and turned 'dark', her touch was far more harmful. Abdul was not possessed - he was just a zombie with a gun."
"In regards to the body, I want to do a precursory exam of systems, see what shut down first and go out from there. Well, to the best of my ability at least. Depending on fluids and blood, rate of decomp and liver temp, etc. We don't have the luxury of forty degrees anymore... not to mention the flies and maggots." Dr. Bebe- "I'm sorry if my preliminary work disrupts any of those studies for you. I wanted to check out his brain and spinal nerves, but that became significantly less interesting than what was grubbing up the outside of his body."
"Dr. Melange, if you've collected enough samples, please show me where they were from. I'm going to flip him over, strip his clothes and cut him down. I want to get at the bottom of this from a whole system standpoint." Dr. Bebe- "Alright... Let's work quickly. The temperature in this confined space is climbing. I just thought it more discreet than having him out in the open there..."

They brought up more lights and took Abdul apart, with Melange pointing out anything they had learned at the hospital before... The first system to stop was likely the heart, of course followed by the brain. The systems all seemed quite ordinary, with the limited tools they had access to. For all purposes, it seemed this was the body of a healthy man who had a heart attack for no reason, and then two bullets put through his dead brain. Bebe- "It's not very illuminating I'm afraid. The best way to investigate the condition is with an unliving specimen, rather than a fully dead one."

The doctor nodded sullenly, pulling the mask down with a gore-coated glove. "I agree, Dr. Melange. I agree completely. I think it would be best if we cleaned up, on account of what tomorrow will likely bring. Or just shut him in here... I think all we can learn will be from whatever you've got in those jars. It's safe to say it doesn't kill by touch alone, since Seth wore some." "I believe the transition between what the earlier crew claimed as 'Sad Ghosts' and 'Dark Ghosts' is pretty clear now. However, I wish to point out that the supposed woman was possessed earlier, and it has been a few days since her death that the significant departure of the 'good' ghost occurred." "Postulating, as I loath to do, it must be something to do with whatever possesses them. And that, I am afraid, may be something far more sinister than walking zombies or even dark ghosts." The doctor pulled up a sheet over Abdul's body, closing his eyes. Victor shrugged. "We need a disposal method... or a bigger walk-in freezer."

Bebe- "According to the first best witness to ghost activity at the mall, Sarah, dark ghosts paralyze with their eyes and kill by touch. She characterized that as seeming like 'pulling out the soul', because the victims in that instance were turned into both a zombie and a sad ghost instantly. What happened to Abdul's sad ghost?
It seems possible ghost status has nothing to do with the phenomenon of possession, and that this Doretta became a shade due more to the horrible circumstances of her death than any, eh, special influence. I'd live to inspect s possessed specimen, but I fear there may be no safe way to do so.
We shall have Columbo move him outside and cremate soon. Well, best to get ready and rested for the H&Ps! Good luck!"

Dr. Victor adjusted the scrub pants as he stepped in behind Ben, coffee nestled against his chest. He murmured quietly something that could be an apology. "Right, Ben. I guess you're up first. I'll see you over here in the kitchen. I'll need you to sit over here on the stool. I won't make you undress but it will lead to a faster exam overall." The area the doctor had set up was quite decent, if small. There was a flashlight over in the male restroom, as well as a metal stool and a makeshift stethoscope. "So, I'll begin with the simple things. Do you have any pertinent medical history?" "Do you have any aches or pains to speak of?" "Do you have any allergies to speak of? Anything you want to add?"

tab Ben went over to the stool, took off his shirt, and sat down. 'Faster exam' sounded good to him. tab "Can't say that I have much of a medical history," he explained. "But my blood type is O positive, in case that's something you wanted to know. No particular aches or pains, and no allergies... That I know of."

"Good. Good." The doctor began a more physical exam, warm hands in cold latex. It was followed with a lot of humming in various tones. "I feel you'll be fine. Thanks, Ben. You were the easiest one yet. If there are any more, send them on in, okay?" He changed out gloves and picked up a pen and paper. "Oh, is there anything you want to ask me, personally or professionally?"

tab Ben got dressed, and pondered the issue for a moment. Did he have any questions? tab "Ehh, no. I can't think of anything right now. Not unless you want to explain what happened at the mall, when the lights went out?"

The doctor lowered his gaze, setting the clip board down. "I suppose it would be unfair not to answer this, but I do ask that you not bring it up with anyone at the 403 building. I... I have pyrophobia. I... I think you want to know more about it, then fine. I was a about half your age, or so, I was in a house fire. I was burned over seventy percent of my body. I... I have a hard time trying to get over it, so, that is what happened..." He turned to face Ben. "I suppose I will have to face it rather than forget it. Still, I wish to choose the time when I discuss these things." He shrugged and went back to the board. "Thanks, Ben."

"Thanks, Dr. Victor. And I'm sorry about your phobia. I'll go get the next guy then." Ben left the kitchen and saw Alex waiting for his turn. tab "The doctor will see you now," Ben said solemnly. tab Then he left for parts unknown and undecided, drifting through the 403 building like a... man who wasn't sure where to go and what to do.
