{Strainy} Not thrilled with Eph. Almost completely unrelatable to me, which is funny as we're both youngesque white dudes. Maybe he needs more stubble, or I've lost touch since I'm older than 18-34. Anyhow, I don't/won't have family drama of his sort and I will never have a tenth the respect and income of a high ranked CDC official. Demented outsiders like the hunter are so specific they evade the IRL-comparison-trap and work better for me. He's almost a better fit for the world of poor folks in America than Eph is. I could imagine meeting him on the bus in Pioneer Square. The other day I saw two people you never see in movies: A chubby dark-skinned Asian woman and a white guy who seemed to have had his nose brutally removed and crudely reattached. That's my world yo.
But then, I've barely seen more than one episode, so maybe he really turned up the charm recently. Anyone seen Curandero, starring Carlos Gallardo? It's a medium low budget Mexican production, executive produced by the Weinsteins and Robert Rodriguez. I only saw the last two thirds. Kinda fun.

{Strain} Eph is cool but I do agree with Chris he's less relatable but it's early days and we haven't had a chance to get to know him. At the moment he's kinda your typical middle aged brunette hero guy that permeates pop culture. I like Abe too (Who can go past a canesword? ) but I do have an issue with the use of the nazi thing. I think it's a bit of a cheap ploy really to create sympathy for him, the wife's heart worked better for me. I just think it's disrespectful to actual Jewish people to use that part of their past as a ploy/selling point. Concentration camps were incredibly harsh and no one but survivors can understand what they went through. I think hollywood makes way too much use of it in general.

{Strain }I meant as a selling point for the character. As yeah he's ruthless but look what he's been through.

{Strained}I'm glad I have you guys summarizing the episodes here. So far it sounds like something I wouldn't enjoy. For me zombies/"scientific" zombies, apocalypse, and Nazi villains are among my least favorite themes.

{kristi} What about parasitic worms? I'd watch more of it if I could, heh.

{more haterade from the c-dogg} Everything Silent Hill post le originals has ranged from ehhh to meh to bleh to ohellnaw. Norman Reedus means nothing to me. As near as I can tell there's a huge cult for the Metal Gear Solid dude that I've never understood. Guillermo is a cool filmmaker, but I'm seeing nothing that suggests this will rise above the mire SH continuation / alternate version stuff has become. Edit: {& more for nerdist generally} I just don't identify with anything "geek" like I used to twenty years ago. I'll appreciate stuff on its merits, but all fandoms - the getting excited about stuff just because of its status in some kind of niche cultural continuum - just put me off. When nerdist started there was this invite-only forum thing going and Kelly got sucked in for a minute by another friend, ignored / treated like an outsider like shit was livejournal, and wandered off without looking back. I've never seen anything from there since that interested me.

On Norman Reedus, The thing he is most known for today is The Walking Dead. You might know him as one of the Boondock Saints. Or not. He's a good actor, despite having been in Mimic.
I fortunately follow nothing closely enough to be exposed to the repugnant parts. I've seen far more rallying calls for diversity in super hero films from Nerdist columnists than other sources, though there is usually ample misogyny and veiled racism in the comments section, as with comments sections anywhere. Also, I don't have a lot of news sources at all anymore (to compare it to), so I come by what I come by as things come along. 80% of Nerdist content is of no interest to me, but what they do cover, I won't really get anywhere else. I'd certainly rather read Nerdist's take on the new leaked information from Marvel studios than someone over at Entertainment Weekly or even Variety.

I just recently saw a bunch of Mimic on the tube, and do not recall his character at all. I guess I blinked and he died.
On Nerdist, that's fair. They haven't especially offended me beyond the one thing + I'm in a cranky mood lately from the heat. I just feel like it isn't for me, like a million Dr. Who tumblars and most of the rest of the internet.

I'm glad to hear the recent rumblings that GdT may get to make his At the Mountains of Madness film that he's always wanted to make.

He does a lot of his own art direction, or at least provides the foundation for his art directors to work with. GdT has wanted to do AtMoM for a long time. Initially, the studios wouldn't agree with anything more than a PG-13 rating for it. Tom Cruise (oh gods) was actively working with him to try to get it going. After the success of Pacific Rim and the merging of two companies that were both interested in the property, talks started back up again. He is also hopeful with the loosening of ratings judgements has him thinking he can make it happen as a PG-13 property. We shall see. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At_the_Mountains_of_Madness#Film

Wow I join you in @-@ {The episode (Strain)} The hunters are way cool, I like them already. The head dude is adorable in a pinhead-esque way. As cold as it sounds, kudos for just killing the infected daughter. It annoys me when people do dumb stuff like letting infected peeps live until they go monster and infect someone else.
I agree while the others have the hive mentality, some obviously are allowed to keep their autonomy. If you want to cheat a little, this series is based off a book so you can get an idea of the design of the vampires. De toro wanted to make this series ages ago but that was before TV went off as it has. So he made it into books instead. It interests me that this is his preferred format for this story. It definitely keeps getting better as new layers are added.

Listening to the Dark Adventure Radio Theatre production of Call of Cthulhu. I bought all of them at Christmas but haven't had time to listen yet.

This is still just a preview, but it looks classically campy.
