Well if it makes you mouth-vomit less, I never used the term 'meta' in any of my essays for that course.

I'm constantly advocating at school for them to allow casually toned papers for more general audiences. Obviously the tone has changed in the last few years professionally, but man, it takes the scholastic sphere forever to catch up.

I'm very excited to be in the sciences now. Half of the writing is just describing a thing you did in as concise and clear a way as possible. The rest is simply stating your observations and conclusions and stringing together (again in a clear and concise manner) the data that led you to that conclusion.

I do have to say, I diagree with Freud's work being called 'pseudopsychology', however I really don't want to gum up this forum with that discussion. Let's just say, I think while some of his theories can be precocious and trite, other theories hold a lot of merit for psychology as a whole.

Let's just say, I think while some of his theories can be precocious and trite, other theories hold a lot of merit for psychology as a whole. I'll make my response short as well, but I still feel obligated to reply. His work inspired a lot of people who went on to have far deeper understandings of the real mechanisms behind human behavior. Jung, for example. What of his material still holds up even a little bit, only holds up because it has been greatly expanded upon to the point that it's hardly recognizable. I guess it's a double standard. I can forgive Lovecraft for being racist, but I can't forgive Freud for discrediting victims of sexual abuse for several decades. I guess maybe it's because Lovecraft never hurt anyone and Freud hurt a lot of anyones.

I think I can hold with that logic. Just as I believe that most of Tesla's work and discoveries may be the most important things to happen in energy science since its inception, but I think his deathray was craycray and I disagree with his stance on the romantic potential of pigeons.
EDIT: On the lovecraft thing, that's very similar to how I reconciled myself with Orson Scott Card being hugely anti-gay.

What happened to dead baby jokes??? AAAH STOP MAKING ME THINK YOU GUYS. What's gross? A dead baby. What's grosser than gross? Loading dead babies into a pickup truck with a pitchfork.

@ Suyoi-- Haha, all the artist statements at my college were VERY dense and smart sounding, (and indecipherable) but they were often written by people dumb as bricks. I did a comic with no words for my statement, and I had the highest gpa in my class at graduation. (2 a minuses short of a 4.0 )
