"Erel. It was Erel, like Errol Flynn. I hope things are well." Another method of name mastery: word association.

Mason- "Maybe he's just running late. I mean, the guy is missing a leg, after all. I'm sure he'll turn up soon."

10:15 came, and looked like no one else was showing up. Marshall led you to a silver, windowless van. He pulled open its heavy sliding door, revealing a very dark interior. It smelled a bit musty, the seats were warm, and dust particles danced in the air. He leaned against the driver's side, practically hunkering down to hide, as a family with a shopping cart passed by. He waited until everyone was loaded, and slipped inside, shutting the door on his suit jacket. Marshall- "Okay, sorry about that, this is a... well you know, the NDA and all. So here are your IDs--" His arm was caught on the door so he took a moment to noisily sort himself out, and pulled out a handful of laminated badges from a coat pocket. They had a spot on the back to clip to a lapel or collar. Billy and George clipped theirs on without a word. Marshall noticed his own had slipped inside a lapel pocket, and readjusted it. Marshall - "So those are your 'code names' I guess you can call it. It's just sort of like, a fun thing I guess. I dunno, I didn't come up with them." He suddenly became interested in the state of his cuticles.

"Robert. Nice to meet you." He used his supreme skills of ventriloquism to make the name tag respond: "Nice to meet you, too." What a card. The kids will love him!"This is all very strange, Marshall. Vans and fake names."

In the back of his mind, he wondered about that Erel guy.. Mason stared at his badge. Code names? Wasn't this supposed to be a retail store job?
Mason- "So, uh.. what kind of job is this again?"

"Emilio Sutherland"? Eric wasn't smart, but this was starting to get questionable, even for him. Code names?Eric- "Where we going, Mister Marshall?"

Marshall- "Oh yeah, it's uh, it's a bit of this and that. Today you'll go with me, maybe tomorrow you'll go with someone else, you know? I just go poke around with the dishes and uh... whatnot. Got a station a couple miles from here, next to the school bus depot." He started the van off and it rumbled off over the uneven concrete. He glanced in the rear-view at everyone. Marshall- "So, what do you guys do-- I mean, not like a job, I guess, but do you do anything interesting? Um, hobbies or whatever?" He tapped at the side of his head, like he had an itch.

He shot the others a nervous look. For some reason, he wasn't all that surprised that Marshall totally danced around Mason's question. Talk about sketch-city.
Mason- "Um, well, I'm learning to play the drums."

Eric wasn't sure his question was answered, at least not in any way that actually made him feel any more informed or comfortable. Still, he didn't want to rock the boat.Eric- "Okay." He looked out the window and tried to keep track of where they were going. He mentally tracked bus routes as they took them and as they crossed them. How would he get here (or get back) from where they were?

"The drums? Are you in a band?" He wondered if he should talk about himself. People sometimes responded coolly to the ventriloquism hobby, as if it was strange to talk to and through a doll on your lap. Okay, sure, it was strange now, but the art used to be a coveted form of entertainment, and before that? It was a religious practice, a sacred thing. Prophets as conduits for the dead and divine. "I'm as cool as Mason and Holly. I just ... I'm a ventriloquist."

Judd, apparently- "I watch hockey." Charlie, so it seems- "I... airbrush. T-shirts."

Dr. Maneep Pamplemousse -
Eric saw a few milk run routes that he wouldn't take if there was an alternative. They were in a cultural and physical wasteland - no reason for anyone with a soul to be here.

Mason, to Timothy- "A band? Man, I wish! I've been teaching myself for a few months now, slowly picking it up," He smiled at the mention of Timothy's profession, seemingly interested. "Ventriloquism huh? Where do you perform?"
To Holly- "What kind of stuff do you write? My sister used to be into poetry when we were kids." Despite being a little skeptical about this entire situation, he made sure to appear engaged. They would be working together now, might as well get to know them better.
