Ru-
"Maybe we do have a chance. But maybe it's just Courtney and her relatives and we can't ask specifically..."
He seemed stunned by the possibility at least.
Babette-
"If we need a medium, so be it. Maybe that's why our earlier seances failed. We are too entrenched in life, even now, even after our first deaths. Barren said not all people become ghosts, and not all ghosts are people. I cannot stop asking questions until I find ... you know, until I find him."
Ru-
"I thought about asking about him, but maybe he's gone somewhere else. Courtney was just changed but you can talk to an older vampire who might know more, right?
Maybe it isn't something we can learn but we can certainly try."
August -
This guy interrupted their private conversation.
"Boy am I glad that's over. Lawdamimbo! What a night. Poor old Courts, am I right?"
Babette-
Babette winked at August. Don't worry, this'll be the last time she's a creeper, since she doesn't fraternize with her coworkers. For now ...
"It wasn't such a waste, all things considered. I meant to ask - did you ever have a tattoo here?"
She poked his chest with a pointy finger.
August -
He took a step back looking embarrassed.
"Nah, I had one my shoulder though. Uh... sorry again. How come you never had one, Babs?"
Ru-
"I am a little worried. She seems to be a lot more...quiet and sad than she's been in our other meetings. I wonder what happened to her..."
His mouth looks a little drawn.
Babette-
Babette sometimes forgot that not everyone was as comfortable topless as she was.
"My only concern, as far as Courtney goes, is her living situation. If she's being mistreated by older vampires, that cannot stand, and we should try to arrange for help."
She considered August's question.
"I did think about inking my arms. And other places. In high school, I wanted raven wings across my back, and later I just wanted a raven. But I worried that tattoos would hurt my chances as an actress and, ah, people sometimes discriminate when you're interviewing for other jobs. Ru, did you ever want a tattoo?"
Ru-
"Nope, I guess at some point I wanted sleeves. Even had a good job for that but I never quite felt the need to go through with it."
Ru shrugged, and then looked at Babette thoughtfully.
"They make make-up to cover that up, but I am worried about Courtney. She just looks so much sadder this meeting than our last..."
August-
"Shame, could have been really edgy in my film. Oh well Courtney is goth now, Ru. Maybe she's smiling on the inside? I dunno."
-Babette
Babette nodded.
"She's smiling on the inside, and the smile is a farce. It's the goth way. Well, all things considered, I still prefer demons. They're cute little things. Don't you think?"
Ru-
"I think I trust the demons before I trust Thierry though I guess trusting either is a bad idea. We've only met one demon and one ghost though. I wonder if there are more dangerous ghosts out there, or if they all have a can-care-less attitude..."
Babette-
"You don't trust Thierry? He's been nothing but good to us. Unless there's something I don't know about?"
August-
"That demon was pretty funny. Be careful what ya bite though, if a fairy can make me a fish imagine what a demon would do!"
Ru-
"He just seemed really skeevy..."
He makes a disapproving face.
"How did the whole fish thing happen? I know you said something on the phone about faerie blood but ... How common are they? And was he just sitting around?"
August seem to agree with Ru's disapproval and nodded.
"Yeah, I didn't like the way he was around y'all ladies either."
He answered Ru's questions.
"Well, me and Cam were trying to eat some yuppies when a homeless dude appeared except he wasn't. He didn't like us eating on his beach and then outta nowhere he attacked us. Anyways one thing led to another and I bit him. Then suddenly everything got real big and I was smaller than a babe in basket. He was just lurking around the beach but I wouldn't say sitting. Ya know I don't know how common they are, y'all should ask Florence. She'd know."
Ru-
Ru nodded. He seemed to take this information to heart. Maybe it is useful to speak to Florence...He had not talked to her since that day...
"I guess we should just be wary. There are so many more dangers now that we're Hommes De Le Nuit, you would think now that we're said persons, there would be fewer dangers to us... "
August-
"I wonder what else the ghost would have done if Courts hadn't called it away? I was worried she'd be all skelly forever. Who'd of thought before that Courtney could be scary?"
Ru-
Ru crossed his arms and seemed to fret a little.
"I don't know. I'm not entirely convinced it was joking still, but at least it ended up turning out ok. No more humans coming to our circles though..."
