Fee had arrived on the scene on the look out for brown haired guys in red hoodies. Thankfully
the place wasn't full of them but he still couldn't find the guy. Was it the wrong party? He'd
been playing it cool on his phone when a friendly goth appeared. He'd chatted vaguely to
the guy on the HU campus but couldn't remember his name, studied social studies or something.
Still a friendly face made the whole thing a little less weird and they got to chatting.
As much as Eli wanted to keep an eye on Jason, he need a break from the dude after that weird scene.
Here he was, already late to his meetup. Hauling Jason along would be a pain and what if Felix
got the wrong idea? Awkward... Eli tried to steer Jason toward their other friends, but who knows
where the guy could wander off to... at least he couldn't get a DUI now.
Eli stalked the party, standing up on his tip toes and peering through doorways until he saw a tuft of
cerulean hair just around a corner. He tried to not run but the relief had him walking up a bit fast.
He felt a bit out of sorts, too bad he couldn't get pre-soused like he might have in the past.
Talking to the fireballs was odd, like Skalling through some horrible compression error,
but he tried to focus on the conversation.
Eli laughed a bit hollowly at the vampire jokes, but it probably just came off as social awkwardness,
which was nothing new with any of these folks.
Adlai seemed at least not bro-tastic so he went for it.
Eli almost forgot for a moment that getting a beer would only be for show. Sighh...
Maybe moving around would help chill the social anxiety a bit.
Those guys headed toward the drink table, and ran into a familiar face. (At least to one of them.)
A lone, tall guy was looking through the drinks idly and glancing around at the crowd.
He glanced over at the drinks.
Fee tried not to double take, were they Goddites or something? Still it meant he didn't have to
feel dorky for picking light beer.
A pair of punchy weirdos started playing grabass near the drinks table.
Eli edged away and whispered.
As the trio descended the stairs, a tiny person came up the other way, then slid down
the bannister backwards to join them at the bottom.

Fee-
"Heeheehee, oh, man."
Gothy Rando-
"You're a funny lil' dude, lil' dude."
As much as Eli wanted to keep an eye on Jason, he need a break from the dude after that weird scene.

Eli-
"Hey uh, excuse me-- Felix?"
Fee-
"OH! Eli great! This is Adlai. He likes vampires.
Adlai, this is Eli. He plays Shadow Kingdom with me.."
Gothy Rando-
"Shadow Kingdom? Kohonese horror, huh?"
Eli-
"Hey, nice to meet you! Man, sorry I'm late...
Walking always takes longer than you expect.
Yeah, Shadow Kingdom is dope, there's a pretty
cool vampire stage, but damn it's hard."
He felt a bit out of sorts, too bad he couldn't get pre-soused like he might have in the past.
Talking to the fireballs was odd, like Skalling through some horrible compression error,
but he tried to focus on the conversation.
Fee-
"It's okay! You're here. Oh yeah, they were not
the sexy vampires either. My character was so
close to vampirism. Those guys latched on like leeches. "
Adlai-
"Yeah, I'm more of a romantic goth.
Little into LARPing myself."
Eli-
"Oh wow,I always thought about getting on an RP server, but it seems
like it'd be hard to stay in character. What if I messed up and said
something stupid? That's gotta take a lot of skill. What do you play, Adlai?
I've seen the Dreaming Immortals movie, dunno if anyone still plays that."
Eli-
"So what do you think of the party so far?
I don't really know the person who's throwing it,
but a few of my friends are here."
Adlai-
"Oh! Yeah, that's really old school. Right now we're playing
Darkness Forever . You just gotta feel the character dude
like in your soul. You know? Of course a bit of acting never
hurt. Luckily my character is a lot like me. Except a vampire...
Obviously. Mostly good, depends who you're talking to."
Fee-
"I dunno, I haven't seen you eat. What was in your cup?
Blood! Oh my! Sorry, I've imbibed a few myself.
Hehe beer not blood. Oh yeah. It's been cool, it's easier
with the booze. Of course it's early days. Still have my
gameo just in case."
Eli laughed a bit hollowly at the vampire jokes, but it probably just came off as social awkwardness,
which was nothing new with any of these folks.
Eli-
"Haha, it'd be fun for me to play Cristaux d'Amoureux,
but I don't know if I call pull off her skimpy vestments.
I actually made a dude dark knight once but their-- uh, well--"
Adlai seemed at least not bro-tastic so he went for it.
"Their butts are just so flat and you know, you have to stare at
it all the time... Felix, at least you have that full length armor."
Fee-
"Hahaha yeah, it's pretty het orientated. Those ladies have
got butts, like dudes don't have butts. We have butts. "
Adlai-
"I don't want to be one of those gays but hetroscum, man.
World's run by the breeders."
Fee-
"Heh. I don't think it necessarily needs to
go all out but maybe more choice. I still like it.."
Eli-
"Haha, god I'm glad we got in that LGBT guild. The game's pretty diverse for
a PC title but still. At least it's no Kill Streak. Ugh, can't believe I suffered through
that series when I was a kid. At least I didn't go on mic but don't think I've heard
so many homophobic slurs per second in my life."
Eli-
"Hey, you guys wanna get a-- well, you already had drinks?"
Fee-
"Yeah, I kept away from that game. I heard enough
from the kids who played it. Jerks the lot of them. "
Adlai-
"See, that's why I work out. No one tries anything
when you're built like a brick house. I think I'm ready
for another, what about you lil dude?"
Fee-
" Yeah, why not? Maybe they'll have snacks too.
You ready to get your party on, Eli?"
Eli almost forgot for a moment that getting a beer would only be for show. Sighh...
Maybe moving around would help chill the social anxiety a bit.
Eli-
"Ready as is humanly ugh possible."
Those guys headed toward the drink table, and ran into a familiar face. (At least to one of them.)
A lone, tall guy was looking through the drinks idly and glancing around at the crowd.
Eli-
"Hey, Jack!"
Jack-
"Oh...! Hi Eli. Got some friends?"
Eli-
"Yeah this is Felix and Adlai. Felix and I play a MMO--
err, an online game together."
Jack-
"Cool, I don't know much about
that stuff myself, but I don't mind
hearing about it."
Eli-
"Jack's one of my new roommates.
I think he's more of a movie guy than a game guy."
Jack-
"Oh, well, I play some games, but not
anything too serious. My ex was into all that
stuff where there's like a zillion buttons and words
on the screen. But yeah, I like movies too."
Fee-
"Nice to meet you, Jack. Eli mentioned he had cool roomies.
Uh I don't just do MMOs but uh I don't think anyone wants to
hear about Chem Engineering. Hahaha. Movies are cool too,
of course. Where did you guys meet?"
Adlai-
"Charmed."
Jack-
"Friend of a friend kind of thing,
I just moved up here from the south
so I put the word out. Rent's absolutely awful...
But not so bad if you can split it."
Eli-
"Ah, yeah, it's a nice place. So wow, engineering!
I remember you mentioning that before, that has to be brutal."
Jack-
"No joke, I barely scraped through liberal arts, heh."
He glanced over at the drinks.
Jack-
"Anyone want something? There are
a couple iced teas left." Eli-
"Oh I'll just have-- I guess no one is drinking
this off-brand cola. Keep the rest for... yeah..."
"How magnanimous."
Fee tried not to double take, were they Goddites or something? Still it meant he didn't have to
feel dorky for picking light beer.
Fee-
"More for the rest of us right? I got my beer, I'm easy.
Heh you guys on something you're not telling us about?"
Adlai-
"That's cool, that's fine. "
Fee-
"Oh yeah. All my dreams are like textbooks. Means I sleep
really well though. If I wake up I fall asleep again with all
the information in my head. Though I did have one dream
where I was a paladin fighting my tutors in order to get a pass.
Sometimes I wish I'd picked something easier."
Jack-
"Haha, not on anything yet... Probably see who's holding later.
You guys smoke?"
Eli-
"Oh man, I might need to drive later,
so I'm gonna take it easy for now."
Jack-
"Tch, more for me! Well, and the guy
I'm waiting for. So more stoner boys for me as well!"
Eli-
"Ha, I guess so. So Jack's schedule is pretty easy to
figure out, how about you two? I'm not big into
dancing typically, but might be the thing to do later."
Jack-
"Am I really so simple? Well, maybe I am..."
Fee-
"Oh that's your type huh? I think I met one
of them out the front. He was pretty cool.
I'm afraid I'm a big old square when it comes
to that stuff. He was looking for a seller,
thought you were one, Eli. Heh. You're not are you?"
Adlai-
"Well I came to party! In every sense of the word. "
Fee-
"Oh yeah I'll dance once I've had enough. I can't say
it'll resemble dancing though. More like a salmon wiggling."
Eli-
"Haha, nah, if the popo comes for me,
it'll be about all that illegal software--
Tch, better not say more, you never know
who's listening.
Jack-
"Well if someone's in need of a good time
out there, who am I to deny them?
Imma bounce, but you guys enjoy
yourselves."
Eli-
"You too, Jack. Have fun."
Fee-
"Good luck with your stoner boy."
Adlai-
"Later, dude."
Fee-
"He's uh interesting. So you're a *cough* hacker?
What have you hacked? I've downloaded illegal
shows but that's the extent of my hackery."
Eli-
"Eh it's probably why my laptop was half
destroyed with malware, but sooo worth it.
You in need of PhotoStudio 10?
I can hook a brother up...
I don't think that one had any trojans--"
A pair of punchy weirdos started playing grabass near the drinks table.
Eli edged away and whispered.
Eli-
"Umm, awkward. What are we, 12?"
Fee-
"Right? That's just awkward as heck. Some people have no boundaries. "
Adlai-
"There's a time and place. "
Fee-
"You wanna go somewhere they're not?"
Eli-
"Man, that shit is so jacked, because you know those guys would be
flipping switchblades if anyone told them to knock it off."
Fee-
"Totally have to be musical theatre students,
it's like their mating call or something. There
really should be some test before they hand
those things out. I'm sure they'll get what's coming.
Hopefully knick themselves on their own razors."
Eli-
"Geh, got enough drama in my everyday life, don't need it when
I'm trying to relax too. Speaking of which, two of my friends were
almost throwing down earlier, but they do that so often and nothing
ever comes of it other than some bruised egos and cussing.
They're not even frat boys, just goofy punk-rockers."
Eli-
"Hey that can be a fun topic, you guys have any drama freaks
in your lives? Drama-theater or just drama-drama... kinda
synonymous, innit?"
Fee-
"Not so much in the punky sense but in the drama drama?
Oh yeah. My dad is a total drama llama, seriously anytime
he has a headache it's brain cancer or like some new allergy.
Then there's Pete at HU, he goes on and on about how
he's going to drop out and fail then gets the highest
score. Makes me want to puke. I'd feel for
him if his fears had any founding."
Adlai-
"Sasha Darkfort and Nexis in my LARP group,
those two are constantly on and off. Like get a
room already guys. One time she cursed him so
he couldn't look at another lady vampire without
puking frogs. Totally broke the group rules."
As the trio descended the stairs, a tiny person came up the other way, then slid down
the bannister backwards to join them at the bottom.
Chloë-
"Woo! Hahaha, sorry, I'm soo hyper.
Eli! I'm really glad you made it,
some people were talking like
you guys didn't want to come and
I was gonna like cry forever about it."
Eli-
"Hey Chloë, of course we would come!
Why pass up a chance to hang out with
my best friends? This is Fee and Adlai,
Fee and I are online friends."
Chloë-
"Oooh... is that okay to do?"
Eli-
"Huh?"
Chloë-
"I mean uh, inviting someone from uh,
someone from before. Er-- inviting a plus one..."
Eli-
"What-- oh-- oh. Yeah, it's fine.
Don't worry about it. Anyway...
This is Chloë! She's an artist and actress.
Err, not a drama student though."
Chloë-
"Oh no, was I coming off like one?"
Eli-
"No, no... don't worry about it."
Fee-
"Uh a little, I mean... no. Hey. It's okay
I'm not a serial killer, yet. Hahaha. heh."
Adlai-
"Mmmmmm I don't understand. "
Fee-
"Nice to meet you, Chloë. Have you been in anything big?""
Chloë-
"Oh no not anything big yet,
just um, just student stuff...
But we're working on something
way bigger!"
Eli-
"Yeah we're working on a--"
Chloë-
"Tsst-- maybe it should be secret!"
Eli-
"What, really? I mean, we were talking about acting
so it's probably obvious it's going to be a mo--"
Chloë-
"Fee, your hair is so cute!
How do you get it like that?"
Eli-
"..."
Fee-
"It's okay, I'll let you keep your mystery.
I'll keep my eye out for you then I can
be like 'Oh I met her once.' "
Adlai-
"I'm pretty underground, I've probably seen it. "
Fee-
"Thankyousomuch, but it's less fluffy to the touch..."
Fee-
"...too much product. It's part hair spray and
part madness. I'm not in Chemical engineering for nothing "
Chloë-
"Oh wow, you must be so smart!
I know someone with blue hair
but he's kind of grubby so it's more
like a weird sea pony than a unicorn.
I wonder if unicorns are real..."
Eli-
"Man I can hardly groom my eyebrows
sufficiently. I respect you guys who keep on trend."
Chloë-
"Wow... I wonder what I would do
if I saw a unicorn. I think I'd just take
a picture with my phone or try to draw it.
Even though it would be nice to pet it,
but what if it had some kind of unicorn
disease that was fatal to humans?
Would it be worth it...?"
Eli-
"It's important to consider."
Fee-
"Ha! That'd be the selfie to end all selfies. I think I'd
risk it to pat a unicorn though. I mean it's a unicorn,
it'd have to have something to do with glitter or
rainbows. I think I can deal. I'd be a hit at clubs."
Adlai-
"It'd have to be a goth unicorn for me, like something
off the cover of Todesparade: Eiscreme-Selbstmord"
Fee-
"What about you Eli, what kinda fantasy creature
would you selfie with?"
Eli-
"Ooooh good question. You know, they probably don't
look that exciting, but ghosts are pretty awesome.
And I could publish my selfie in the Daily Sun and
win their 10GM grand prize for proving life after death."
Chloë-
"Do you guys believe in any of that stuff?
I've been thinking about aliens lately, but I just
don't know enough about the universe to be sure."
Fee-
"OoooooOooooh a ghost. Yeah but they're pretty easy to fake.
How do you know if you're meeting a real ghost?
I guess not, I'm more of a science geek than horror.
I think aliens are possible though, I think they're
probably snubbing us for being dumb."
Adlai-
"Oh yeah I believe. There's more darkness in the
world than we know. You just have to be open to
seeing it. Feel the power of the soulllll."
Sebastian came in the door, maybe dropped a nod at a vampire or two, but basically speed-walked the first floor peering through flames for a familiar hairdo. And lo, round the way, he found this guy.
Fee-
"Heeheehee, oh, man."
Gothy Rando-
"You're a funny lil' dude, lil' dude."
