I'm going to limit myself to 25,000 words, with photos counting as below (I may revise later, but not to weasel through):
Photos with no touch-up beyond a crop job: 0 words. Photos with mostly automated touch-up: 0 words. Photos with cropping, automated touch-up, and color range or area specific adjustments: 150 words. Photomerges which always require all of the above, and then some: 300 words.
If I find that my photos account for 50% of my content, I will retire in shame.

Milo -50k is about the length of The Great Gatsby, they say, and is less than half a typical paperback novel - and yet, it's just a bit higher than the highest wordcount typically regarded as a "novella," so still counts as a novel, I say. YA would usually have a lower words count than a Dean Koontz joint, so you're solid.
Brett- With that low of word count awards for pictures, I think it's safe to say most of your count will come from text. Just include any irrelevant information that springs to mind while you compose, babble, whatever.

I solemnly swear to complete at least 25K NANOWRIMO words in 30 days. Furthermore, it's my solemn duty to write my dissertation fellowship essays and at least 50% of one scientific paper before December.
Excelsior.

Brett- With that low of word count awards for pictures, I think it's safe to say most of your count will come from text. Just include any irrelevant information that springs to mind while you compose, babble, whatever. The photo albums for my blog posts are generally pushing 100 photos. Probably 10 panoramas per country average, that's 3000 words x three countries (9000), and then another 50 per worth 150 times three countries (22,500)... I think it is more likely that I have the opposite problem, and I'm giving myself too much credit. My REAL goal is to select, edit, and post photos for all four countries and also blog all four countries before the end of the month. The word count goal was a guess.

@ Brett-- Dag, yo. Yeah that's the trick with any of these things, decided how much something is worth. On the Getyedone site you gotta decide whether something is hard/easy/boss etc, and that can be tough to gauge. Well whatever works, maybe even just a flat 'this many per day' thing. It helps to have something concrete, so your deadline will feel complete and not 'well I guess I sorta did it...' at least that's how it is for me.
