Vincent did find some markings in the dust around the dolls, though they were too slight to be from anything other than small animals.

In churchland, Colleen smiled and shrugged, seemingly satisfied with her own bad joke. She walked with the rest of them, "On the contrary - I am the darkness. OooOOOooohh." She wiggled her fingers for emphasis. "Yeah, let's bail. I feel like I'm going to burst into flames if I stay here any longer." Shopland, Jake wanted to get back to Colleen relatively soon - Being apart from her for too long made him uncomfortable."Yeah, we should get back. ..Could I see that doll for a second?"

Sam held the little man as if she were handling a baby bird.Sam - "Careful, now. If you drop him the head could get damaged," she said while passing Jake the doll, her expression serious.Jake inspected the doll, but the only thing he gathered was that the eyes were particularly convincing.(( Trinity - See edit above.)) Once Sam resumed her guardianship of of the little man, the boys and girls in the shop returned outside the way they came. At the same time they reached the church Ms. Thompson was leading her group outside, and everyone merged near the building's entrance.
Adrian looked down at what Sam was carrying,
Adrian - "Where'd you get that?"
Sam - "We found it in the general store."
Zoe - "Yeah, we didn't want to leave it since it looked like somebody forgot it there."
Adrian - "That's weird..."
Sam and Zoe - "What?"
"We found some dolls, too."
Sam - "No way!"
Ms. Thompson - "You didn't see anything else? No other people?"
Zoe - "Nah, just the little guy."
Zoe - "Ms. Thompson, I don't think this is a real town. I think it's like the museum I went to in grade school. They had old buildings moved there and made a fake village with them. Like, that store over there?" Zoe looked in the direction they came from, "It had old brands and things people don't use anymore. Speaking of which, do you know what 'female pills' would be for?"
Ms. Thompson - "That is something I also considered when I saw how much was outdated. Although, I can't imagine why somebody would make such a large investment as establishing an entire village of relocated buildings, and then abandon the project..."

Colleen chimed in, "Maybe it's a movie set? I mean, a lot of the stuff here looks really old. Maybe it's all props."
"Or an abandoned town." Added Jake, "I don't see any movie equipment around here; do you?"
"It was just an idea.." Grumbled Colleen.
Adrian - "Hey, I doubt people would leave their cameras and stuff out in the elements if the project fell through."

As Vincent finished his thought, something found its way into his peripheral vision. His attention was caught by the gentle ascent of smoke rising above the buildings down the way. One lonely chimney emitted the distinctively scented smoke of a healthy wood fire, soon noticeable to all present.

Jake - "Well, it's the first solid lead we have so far."
Colleen, rolling her eyes. - "Easy there Detective. If someone is there, there's no guarantee they'll be open to strangers. Let's be careful."

Colleen - " *Scoffs* I was thinking more like those creeps from Hellraiser."
Jake - "..Anywaaaayy, I didn't see anything either--"
Colleen - "The one guy with the needles? Just standing in a window like--"
Jake - "Dude."

(( Sebastian Trinity - General note: I've neglected to say this since it hasn't come up until now, but for this RPG I'd like to have us avoid name dropping IRL brands and franchises. Not a big issue, it's just something I personally prefer when creating a fictional world. I find that doing so makes it feel more immersive.))

(( Trinity - I think it's fine since it's just one topical aside. I'd also have to ask Sebastian to change his post for continuity's sake, which is more trouble for what it's worth. Also, it's funny. ))

After Ms. Thompson talked the twins out of pursuing their violent approach, the group followed the timeless sign of occupancy to a late victorian home. It was vernacular, its dark grey body, white and tan details all faded, with deck railing and simply delicate gable fretwork mostly remaining. Smoke continued to issue out the brick chimney like a beacon.
As the group's leader ascended the stairs to give the front door a knock, a clattering like what was heard earlier from the bus erupted from a cracked window. Something began to slowly draw letters on its dusty pane:
Please

Colleen and Jake both shared confused expressions, Colleen's leaning more into terrified territory.Jake - "Yeeaaah, fuck that."
Colleen - "I dunno about you guys, but I say we get the hell out of here."

Clearly Sam didn't share the others' suspicion as she took Zoe's hand and accepted the stranger's invitation. Ms. Thompson, frustrated, called after their giggling voices,
Gina - "Girls, wait."
She sighed and followed them through the door. Adrian looked to the remaining kids, shrugged, then proceeded inside.
Adrian - "Well, I'm not going to just stand here," he said, not bothering to close the door behind him.

Jake looked at Colleen, smiling sheepishly.Jake - "Uh.. Ladies first..?"
Colleen - "I hate you."
Colleen dragged her feet into the house, with Jake following closely behind.
