Ms. Thompson and the kids exited through the trees mostly unscathed, though anyone with short sleeves or pants got a few tiny scratches from buckthorn. As they climbed through, unsticking their clothes from grabby plants as they went, they came out onto a street lined with small, decrepit brick buildings. Weeds eagerly grew wherever the pavement was in disrepair, and leaves blanketed the ground, piling up by buildings that faced the wind.
Residential buildings were mixed in with businesses. Most prominent were Lewan Village General Store on the right side of the street and a quaint church father down on the left.
Gina - "Perhaps we should ask someone in one of these shops?"
Ms. Thomson spoke in a clear voice, but something didn't seem right about this very unfamiliar place. Only birdsong could be heard.

Something was definitely not right here, but Jake was more or less convinced this was all set up. Colleen was more skeptical, but decided to just go with the flow. If something went down, she'd grab Jake and bail. She raised her hand. Colleen- "I'm up for confessing my sins."
Jake- "I guess I'll go look at the shops, too."
He didn't really want to leave Colleen, but that Vincent guy seemed alright.

Sam and Zoe joind Lewis and Jake, while Ms. Thompson accompanied Vincent and Coleen.
Zoe found the doors to Daisy's Salon were locked, which wasn't surprising considering how dim it was inside. She peeked through the dusty windows, but couldn't see much. Sam slowly read aloud the faded letters on a big display window, Sam - "Vick... Peterson... Ta... ilor." In the window that read, "CLEANING, PRESSING" were fallen advertisements. Sam could make out one had an illustration of a dapper fellow in a slim, pinstriped suit with slicked back hair. Zoe put her forehead against the main window and saw several clothing displays. Zoe - "I guess it's like a vintage place? I wish we could go in. It's kind of cool." While the others were having less luck, Jake found the side door to Lewen General Store was able to open with a little effort.((Player instructions: Trinity - Have Jake inform the others of his success. Then all PCs In the store group go in the back door. Church group can go in now. I'll provide descriptions soon.))

It was dim inside the general store with serviceable enough natural light. A layer of dust coated the surfaces of the products and shelves.
On stock was everything from hardware to jars of sweets on the front counter. While common grains in bulk were stored in wooden barrels, many shelves were dedicated to dried food products, canned and jarred foods, and an entire shelf is labeled as prescription medications, many variably questionable. Several products and advertising signs were for readily recognizable products such as colas and candy bars, but more were foreign.
Zoe picked up one of the hats from its stand on the counter, but quickly returned it as a miasma of dust floated up with its movement. As she rubbed her tickling nose she took notice of a soda crate,
Zoe - "What is "sarr-sah-pah-rillah?"
Sam - "That's not how you pronounce it. I want to know what 'female pills' are."

Jake scrunched his nose, repulsed by the sights and smell. What was this place, anyways? He kicked over some old newspapers, watching the dust rise and settle. He wasn't sure what it was they were hoping to find here.

Following a row of businesses was a small yard with a humble nineteenth century catholic church. The chapel was topped with a simple cross and the dingy white paint was peeling off the building's wooden paneling. It was set a little further back from the street than the other establishments, likely because it was constructed at an earlier date, and oak trees and bare shrubs randomly dotted around the area instead of the maples lining the rest of the street.
Inside it was less dim than the shops due to ten evenly distributed arched windows, but things were no less dusty. In the back of the room on the left was a pretty little oak harmonium that would positively shine with the right care, and a wood stove more centrally located. Eight pews sat before a short altar rail, and the altar, once a worthy focal point for past worshipers, had wax from unattended candles melted all into its cloth.

Colleen mostly kept her head low and her voice quiet, but kept an eye out for anything interesting. She had been to churches a few times when she was younger, but stopped once she got older. Being in them made her uncomfortable.

Lucas looked inside the counter drawers, finding rodent nests built out of paper documents and old boxes with contents long devoured. As he closed them and stepped away in disgust his foot bumped into something sitting on the floor.

Ms. Thompson went to sit down on the second pew on the left side of the room. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Perhaps He could offer some insight? Vincent found nothing of interest by the altar, so he went over to see what Adrian was looking at.
Adrian pointed to the front pew on the right,
Adrian - "Hey, those are cute."

((Kristi is prescribed skeletons - Fill in those placeholders pl0x! ))((GM: Done! Yay!)) Colleen chimed in with a small smirk. Colleen- "He means me, silly." She had taken a spot towards the altar, dragging her shoes across the ground, making a satisfying scuffing sound while she walked. There wasn't much to look at, but she was fascinated by candle wax and how it blended with the cloth, running her fingers over it with interest.Colleen- "How long do you think this place has been out of business?"

Vincent looked down and saw what Adrian was pointing to. Three painted wooden dolls sat together on the pew. There was one taller doll, a young lady, and next to her were two smaller child dolls sitting side-by-side. They all wore collared feedsack dresses with puff sleeves, the children dolls with identical sew patterns, and the lady doll wore a tilted pert hat with a tidy bow. Not one of them had a speck of dust.
Adrian - "I think somebody left them here pretty recently."
Ms. Thompson got up to look herself.
Gina - "Then somebody else must be around. We should keep looking."

Lucas took a slight step forward while looking back at what his foot had found. Sitting against a crate was a pristine doll of a man with a cloth body and porcelain head. His hair was grey, he wore his shirt sleeves rolled up halfway to the arm holes of his dark brown vest, and the only thing dingy about him was his worn apron.
Zoe - "What'd you find?" Zoe asked as she joined Lucas behind the counter, following his gaze.
Sam soon joined them. It was getting crowded back there.
Sam - "Wow, that's in really good condition. All the paint looks new! I bet he costs a fortune. His detail is also really good since he's only, like, eight inches standing."
