Pull over, or use your disembodied mouth to converse. The subject of this thread is the current comic - as of this message, the 200th comic, or Chapter 8, Page 21. We'll continue in this thread as new comics emerge from the pixel mines. Attachments:

OK, this thread should be a good one ultimately, but no takers just yet.
I'll start by talking a bit about chap 8 page 21. HEY-OOOOO!
The good bit in the last panel is a bit of a mind-eraser, but up the page there's some fun stuff. The second panel of those gas station guys has some hilarious drawing in it. And sexy Demy in the dojo is a delight. Wonder if we'll see that Charles Keith guy again?
At this point, I don't know much about what's going to happen in The Kingfisher anymore. I'm at Kelly's mercy! Terrible, I know.

I shall add to this with a regular theme of my current comments; MINCHIN!! WHY YOU SO FREAKY?!! and why is he only going after Jack? If he can get into the apartment why not go for Tristan and Darren as well? I do like the random comments of background characters in this, favourite one is when Jack and Tristan are insulting the people at the party And now rounding this off with speculation; Minchin's animal forms, who else thinking there's a snake in there? I mean he was all weird and stretchy. And I'm more convinced now that he has some kind of psychic power, how else could he make Jack bleed like that?

Minchin is a rat or rabbbit I think, most likely rat but then rabbit fits the magic carnival thing.

dj - I was more of the impression that Jack was having one of those, "I wasn't invited here" vampire things that you see make them bleed in previous chapters. It opens up another can of worms entirely, but that's my point of view.

DJ - haha. That fight scene at the party is an interesting one for us. The party itself existed in two or three versions of the story from our old RP books, but the fight was not from the original version.
In that "Alt" comic, Jack was turned by Demetri and Princess Akiko became the Sombreta candidate. It was Jack that taught Akiko to get blood with violence that way.
That shit was hella funny. :-D
On that animal form thing, we have not, to my knowledge, clarified that Minchin is even a vampire. And the Minchin attacking Jack is certainly rather different in character from the one that met Theo that night.
But if we assume Minchin is a vampire, the fangs could be snakey, or they could be rat or rabbit a Indea suggests. In which case the snakey body thing is some other sort of power.
As for the bleeding, the top text on Page 20 implies Jack is suffering the effect of being "disinvited" from his own home. What that means, I can't say. But it will be interesting to see if he requires Tristan to re-invite him when they get home.

I like this thread! I do reckon I should stay out though, what with being the secret puzzlemaster of the Kingfisher. Speculate on!

If Minchin was truly working for Theodore... then wouldn't it be more to Theo's plan for Jack to be terrorized so as to lull the others into a sense of complacency? On a side note, if Minchin is out for himself and trying to eat as many people as he wants, a la Kellgren, then he would be better to keep Theo's 'bestie' safe. He needs to draw the others out... but doesn't know who they are. I dare say the worm on the hook will catch a fish, but if the word is trembling, screaming and crying blood, it will certainly draw more attention.

hmm I didn't really think of Minchin not being a vampire, he had the green eyes and fitted the whole crazy disturbed life thing. Why would he be interested in destroying the Circle then? well other then to get his freaky fun side on.

The glowing eyes do suggest vampire. I'm just saying we never said he was...
But seriously, I should stop messing with people.
By the way, the next comic is being labored over as I type this, so hopefully you'll see it sometime soon. Still a lot left to do, because we keep losing time over various problems. We were thinking of putting a twitter widget on the page to indicate progress, in part so you know when to be expecting it soon, but also so you can see how much work it actually is. :-(
What do you think?

Do-dee-do, I need to actually check out threads other than recs. >>
I'm thinking Minchin is either... some sort of weird ghost, or... maybe the Crowboy progenitor? Because his big-scary-rat-teeth look awful similar to the teeth on the terrible-thing in that halloween story, "Busybody". Anyhow! Guess we'll just have to wait and see how things progress.
Can't wait to see the next page. Want moar Jack & Tristan. >>
Edit: Also! That would be kinda nifty, the widget-thing.

I really should get that widget so I could broadcast my comical laments as I try to finish these things. "Can't work-cat in face" "Cat lying on both my arms, can't move" "Cat sneezed all over monitor, must stop to clean screen"

Is not exactly current, but comic related question? Do all vampires have a flying-form? And is it related to bloodline? Like, we've seen Demetri turn into a bat, and Vitus and Jack into birds - is that a normal thing? Are there specific animal forms for the different bloodlines too? I don't know if we've seen anything for Sombreta, but Demetri turned into a wolf, and Thierry into a cat... I have... random sudden curious. >>

Great question Kilnarak! They don't all have a flying form necessarily, though they tend to have at least two forms, a lot of them do fly. (To varying degrees of success!) It's pretty mixed as to who can do any given form too, we saw Fran do a cool wolf/bat combo, so probably Tomasz can too, but can Demetri or Sarah? Some of them I'm keeping secret for now, but the ones who have been shown in the comic are... Dragomir - Bat & wolf Sombreta - lizards (Just Sombreta that we've seen) & nightjar bird Lepponen - Cat and something we haven't seen... Greyburn - I believe we've just seen Aubrey turn into some moths so far Kellgren - Elizabeth turned into a weird horse-like thing Leighton - Theodore has turned into spiders, sent non-him spiders to do things, and turned into a kingfisher of course Crowboys - So far we've only seen crows Other characters I'll probably never get to show more of their monster-ness unless I'm lucky are... Marcus - Rabbit M Vicier - Boar There are some new characters that will have fun forms too. That's all I can think of right now unless I'm forgetting someone. I tried to make the animals vampire/night related and also ones I just think are cool.
