(ORIGINALLY...)
"So are we waiting on anyone else?"
Newly equipped with super hearing, everyone listened to an engine idling, a girly
voice told a presumable taxi driver to wait, and then there were feet on the stairs.
He tried to not to glance at Sophie.
Helen smooched him on the cheek (then quickly wiped her lips off)
and hustled out to the taxi. Darren just stood there.
impossible with everyone's present abilities. That said, talking quietly at the
same time most people are paying attention to someone talking louder might
at least reduce the number of peeps who noticed the exact words, and that
manner of chop busting seems to be par for the course with these chaps.
Florence and Demetri left together, Francesca and Helen
alone. Vitus turned to acknowledge his new posse.
Some peeps was buggin' about the baby thing, as
implied by Vitus and made more explicit by Ru.
Eli rocked on his heels a moment, damn... at least Ru was trying
to be mildly positive but talk about a herd of fudgin' downers.
"So are we waiting on anyone else?"
Newly equipped with super hearing, everyone listened to an engine idling, a girly
voice told a presumable taxi driver to wait, and then there were feet on the stairs.
Helen-
"Hey, everybody!"
Eli-
"Hi...! Everyone ready to bust some heads?
In a friendly way! Just... friendly busting."
He tried to not to glance at Sophie.
Fran-
"Yeah! Bustin' makes me feel good."
Trevor-
How nice. It's the funny young
man that accidentally warned me!
Ru-
"Helen and Darren. I didn't expect to see you."
Helen-
"Hey Roo."
Demetri-
"OK Everyone, it seems everyone is present who is going to be for now, and
so we leave you in the care of Vitus. We shall return later tonight for you."
Helen-
"Be good for uncle Vitus, Darren. OK?"
Darren-
"..."
Helen smooched him on the cheek (then quickly wiped her lips off)
and hustled out to the taxi. Darren just stood there.
Trevor would like to have said that for Courtney's ears alone, but it was
Demetri-
"Florence."
Florence-
"Let's."
Francesca-
"You all have fun. I'll be back."
Vitus-
"You guys owe me big time."
Cameron-
"...."
Courtney-
"Well, I feel special."
Trevor-
"I think Mr. Vitus does not show his feelings much. It isn't just you,"
Trevor quietly says for Courtney's sake, hopeful he wasn't overheard...

Eli-
"So where's our dummy with like, a werewolf head on it? Wait, what
are vampire's natural enemies anyway? Vampire hunters? Wizards?"
Vitus-
"I was considering the amusement park - they don't have night security -
but I've done that too many times recently. There's an unused office building
I have an invite to. I can invite the rest of you and it's fun all night."
Darren-
"Man. This is a waste of time."
Cameron-
"Why is that?"
Courtney-
"..."
Darren-
"'Cuz older vampires are just more powerful, so, like,
it's hopeless. If they wanna get you, you're got."
Vitus-
"Oh, that isn't all there is to it, Darren. Training can make some difference.
Like when the Crowboys first started appearing in Harlan, I was pretty evenly
matched with them, at best. But now that I've practiced a bit more, it seems
they find me a bit more intimidating."
Eli-
"Yeah, I mean, it's a little weird to be doing the boot camp thing, but
maybe it's like Warrior School, and the training will bring out our latent
magical powers. You know you want to be throwing fireballs."
Vitus-
"That's not going to happen, but anything that makes acquiring blood
easier and safer for all concerned is surely a good thing to practice."
Ru-
"I'd like an unused office building. The amusement park sounded
fun too... Darren, I didn't know you were a baby vampire..."
Ru had (perhaps wisely) assumed that most of the vampires they had met
were older folks, but it seems that at least some of them were also newbies too.
"Why are you babysitting?," he asked Vitus after a moment of contemplation.
Some peeps was buggin' about the baby thing, as
implied by Vitus and made more explicit by Ru.
Darren-
"Yeah, that's me, a bouncing baby boy."
Courtney-
"Babysitting? We're all officially
cool with being called babies now?"
Cameron-
"...If the shoe fits."
Vitus-
"Now I wouldn't use that language-"
Courtney-
"-to our faces-"
Ru-
"Hey, hey, it's ok... Sorry everyone. Younger...vampires. I'm just...
happy to see you Darren, there are not a lot of young vampires around."
Ru's smile became tentative and then nervous. He had thought that much
was obvious, and he was certainly on Vitus' side with this one, it seemed.
The man looked like an OK fellow.
He had to admit, as much of a creep Darren had been with Babette,
he did still appreciate his music somewhere inside of himself.
Darren-
"*grmbl grmbl*"
Courtney-
"It's alright Ru."
Eli rocked on his heels a moment, damn... at least Ru was trying
to be mildly positive but talk about a herd of fudgin' downers.
Eli-
"Dang guys, I know it's rough, but we're all together and relatively
intact and nothing horrific's going on... Maybe this could be fun."
Darren-
"Really? I g--"
Vitus-
"-Mm. I just think it's time to go then, right? Let's go to the
garage. Of you all, who knows how to drive? We'll take two cars."
Vitus-
"My car can squeeze in five, but no reason to go more than four.
The stretched sedan is to hard to park, otherwise we could all go in
one easily enough. But we also have a small selection of classics that
the mechanic keeps in running order for us..."
