Ru- "That seems more likely. Do you see anything?" He wondered if all the vampires were here, or just the Marchese. Was this going to be where they stayed until they were better under control? Or... He just could not say. Eli- "Don't see anything yet... And if it's not Brent with a bazooka, I'm not sure I want to." (ORIGINALLY...) "August... You told me not to give up on this. You don't, either. We'll get out of here, somehow."
"Anyways, I'm going to follow this direction. I see some doors. If you guys want to explore another direction, maybe we could split up and cover more ground. If we find something important, we'll go get you guys. Or we could stay together. I don't have a preference."
Eli walked back to the left once he could go no further down the hallway. He opened the first door he saw, once he had retraced his steps.

As Eli went further into the unfinished hall, he could see faint motes of light from around the corner - almost imperceptible. He realized it must be heat light, but was too inexperienced to guess from what.(ORIGINALLY...) ((Seb, as you said you went right, there's no doors there. Wanna go around that bend with zombie August?
edit 2 - or did you mean to go left?))

Ru- Ru wandered in the other direction to investigate the end of the non-door hallway. He was not particularly interested in what he happened to see. "Brent?"

Eli came to an unlocked door. Inside, unfinished particle board. The floor dropped about four feet into darkness. Was there a crawlspace or anything else down there? Hard to tell, this far from the stringlights and other sources.
Eli wasn't keen to possibly drop to his death. He tried to open the next door.

((I'll assume Ru is followed by Babette for the moment, and Eli by August the other way. Remaining PCs that decide their guy came into the halls are somewhere in the middle unless they specify otherwise.))
Ru and Babette reached the end of the right hall and peered around the corner. The unfinished hall went about five more feet before it abruptly angled downward. There must have been some heat coming from that direction - he could see it and see in its faint illumination, but not feel it on his cold skin. ((If you check out what's down, we'll start a new thread.))
The other way, ((some random PC or NPC)) looked into the dark hole curiously while Eli continued. At this point, right and left were trivial. He just crossed the hall to the next closest door. The distant reach of this hall was still not visible.
The door was unlocked, and went into a room with a light bulb and chain in the middle. It was hard to make out much else of its contents, but it smelled very dusty. See if the power is on?
Eli worked up the nerve to pull the chain. What could he alert by doing so?(ORIGINALLY...) Eli entered the room and attempted to pull the chain. At least there wasn't some place he could fall. Why the hell would Marchese have all these weird rooms?

It was also starting to seem weird imagining just how big this set must be from the outside. Probably a waterfront warehouse, but how large must it be to hold that long hall? Surely they'd run into its boundaries soon.
The bulb flickered, burst to life, and died in a flash and hiss. But the fading light was still strong enough for Eli to see the room was full of crates, some with straw sticking out of the cracks.

Ru- "...Maybe we should head down there... And see if there is anything to see?" For the first time he was confused, and unsure what this was. Or where it was, or why it was.

((Assuming DeeK will say yes, I create a new thread now. Leave a post here to indicate you are leaving this thread.))
((Some PC or NPC)) stood near the top of the ramp to watch Ru and Babette's descent, but didn't want to let either group of friends out of their sight.(ORIGINALLY...) "Ugh! This sucks."
Eli was so sick of this. He was going to go mad if he had to keep stumbling upon these random rooms. "Dammit, I know one of you is out there somewhere! Just face us already. This is pointless." He knew he wouldn't get a response, but it felt good to be honest out loud. He approached another door and braced himself for some other bizarre grouping of objects.

Behind him in the hall, ((unspecified PC or NPC)) tried to open a crate to see if there was anything useful within...
((For any late arrivals, you can either follow Eli, hang out near the top of the Descent thread, look for a crawlspace at one door, or check crates through this one.))
The next door proved fake. The one after that seemed real for a moment, but rather than opening, it fell off the wall and he had to prop it back up to keep it from falling on himself. It was fake as well.
The door after that led to a closet-like room. The back wall of it was a dusty grill leading into darkness, a large corroded fan blocking the way.
The door after that led to another room, now very difficult to see, but with a light switch near the door.
There couldn't possibly still be electricity here, could there? That's not how it worked in survival horror games. Still, Eli flipped the switch. Eli- "Brent...? You here?" (ORIGINALLY...) "Here goes nothing..." Eli felt for a light switch and tried flipping it. This was so...tiresome. He just wanted a nice, hot shower and a cozy bed to lay in. Randomly stumbling upon room after room until he died - well, actually died - sounded like the worst way to go.

The light switch didn't work, but as his eyes adjusted, he noticed there was an extremely faint heat coming off of the right wall, and a sound... a subtle rumble. Was there something within the wall, or the next room over? Otherwise, the room was unfinished wood, with two palettes of bricks and dried-ass cement bags laying around.
Eli stopped and listened to the sound, a car?(ORIGINALLY...) "....?"
Eli moved over to the wall and pressed his ear against it. Perhaps he could hear more clearly.

It sounded like an engine or mechanical noise, but he couldn't guess if it was within the wall or in the next room.
Eli followed the sound hesitantly. Couldn't be as simple as finding a getaway car with the keys in the ignition...(ORIGINALLY...) Seeing as Eli couldn't make out anything in particular, he moved to the next room.
Damn....how long was this hallway, anyways?

As he came into the hall, he saw a sparse string of his friends stretching back into the unfinished end. The other direction kept on, disappearing into darkness. Either they were underground, or this building was a thousand or more feet across.
From beneath the next door, he saw very faint motes of heat. He tried the door and it was locked. The door was sturdy, but the handle seemed weak enough to force. Touching it, he felt a faint vibration. Eli- "The hell..." He carefully opened the door.
