These people are seated here, underlit by an electric orb on the brocade table cloth, lit from above by cool colored chandeliers. They have champagne glasses and a bottle in the middle of the table, but don't seem very thirsty.

A finely dressed woman wrings her hands and oscillates between flirtatious smiles and a concerned brow. Next to her, a big guy in a long black coat is immobile, eyes hidden behind cool, cool shades. What's he thinking? Maybe he wishes he'd brought a pocket knife to flip around. We may never know.

Sophie, like the others, recognized Aubrey right away but Ru was already there, and Sophie didn't want to be rude.Dammit. Few of the tables were empty, so- oh, well. She meandered over to this table. "Ah, hello. I'm Sophie" , she says, offering her hand. "May I sit with you?"

Woman- "Oh of course darling! Come right here!"
Man- "................................Oui."
The woman offered a seat to Sophie with a winning smile. Woman- "You can call me Angela, and this is my son Gaston-Louis. Oh isn't it a lovely party? Marchese has the best taste, and I can only imagine that's why you are here! Tell me about everything!"

Sophie sits down. She was shocked to hear the guy was her son- she looked so young!"Thank you." "Well, I go to BADA with some of the others here- that's where I met August, our director. And I work at Old School Pizza uptown." Sophie hoped that was "everything". "What kind of business are you two in?"

Angela- "I have to confess, no business at all. My estate has money people who tend to such things, but perhaps that is crass to discuss. So The Bunnington Academy... Delightful. I believe we have an endowment there. Do we, Gaston-Louis?"
Gaston-Louis- "How should I know zees? I do not." He seems charming.

Sophie tried to veer away from the finances subject."So, what got you guys interested in our little film?" She tried to inconspicuously keep an eye on Greyburn's table.

Angela seemed impervious to noticing that anyone was not paying attention to her. Angela- "...film? Yes, of course. I did not see it personally, but it sounded very passionate and daring. You know, it was not always possible to make a film of that nature, or if one such was produced, it would be a national scandal. Why, in the frightening films, they always had to include a scene at the end in which the supernatural explanation was proven false, because it would be too terrifying for audiences if - even within the context of a fantasy - such things were real. Which is simply mad, but consider at the time when we saw films, they seemed so real - like they were conveying a perhaps degraded representation of real events - if events that had happened elsewhere. Nothing could be further from the truth because the technical limitations, I'm given to understand, necessitated an even greater amount of artifice than on the set of a play. But it's all a little far outside my interests, mind you, I just have friends who know things and insist to tell me all about them. But that allows me to have something to talk about when I meet someone like you, very interesting. But what service, praytell, did you provide on this film?"
Gaston-Louis- "..."

Sophie felt a little intimidated by Angela's answer; all roads lead back to Rich People Talk. And the big guy didn't make her feel any more comfortable."I worked on the costuming, so that's about as far as my expertise goes. You should talk to August- he'd be able to tell you more about film history." She stood to leave. "Well, it's been nice chatting with you, but I should probably meet some of the other guests now. Enjoy your evening."

Angela- "It was delightful, of course. But, Gaston-Louis chéri, what sorts of people might one meet as a costumer? Actors, yes, beautiful people, would you perhaps see them naked? That would be awkward. Yes, quite sure you would see the beautiful ones au naturale as it were, and that, I say, is ..." She is apparently not one to notice when she is being ignored, nonetheless, she was pointed a bit more at Gaston-Louis now. The table was open.

August arrived at this table and offered his hand to the two sitting. It was a little awkward ."Excuse me…Sorry to interrupt. My name's August Hayes, I'm the director. It's a pleasure to meet you both."

Woman- "Angela and this is Gaston-Louis. August! Beautiful boy, the pleasure is all mine, surely." The woman offered him a seat with a gesture.

August sat down in the offered chair.“Aw thanks. You're not so bad yourself . Gosh, y'all have be pretty friendly so far! So mam, may I call you Angela? What are your interests in the arts? Are you an artist? Or art appreciator?”

Angela- "Angela, Angela, you can call me whatever you like! Art! I appreciate art, I love it! I'm an appreciator of everything!"
Gaston-Louis- "....*snf*"
She calmed herself visible, straightening out the hem of her dress.. Angela- "I won't feign humility, but let's pretend I did, yes? I am an artist. I can accept that title now, after all this time of questioning it. Am I an artist? I have the confidence now. Yes. I am an artist. I've dabbled in the paints and the pencils, but my true love is the art of storytelling. Only recently have I begun to strike pen to paper and immortalize the years of experience, not just mine, mind you! But all that I meet I see a tiny piece of the world and perhaps one day I could capture it all, give enough time of course. Imagine, film! I never considered it. Why couldn't I make a film myself? How amazing to see one's dreams brought to life in moving pictures! How did it feel? Was it amazing? Could you ever imagine such a thing? I can't imagine it!"

"…" August was a little taken aback by her 'enthusiasm'. He quickly relaxed though, it was just eccentricity and all foreign people were a little odd to him.
The Gaston Louis was a little strange too but for entirely different reasons, perhaps he was mute? Poor fella. “That's what film is all about capturing a moment, a feeling in motion. Creating a story that y'all can immerse yourself in and gain a better understanding of how others live. I think everyone is an artist in their own way, there is art in every aspect of life. The beauty of film is that it can go beyond imagination. What would be the story ya'd want to tell?”
