((Hello! We begin this story with a prologue, to familiarize you all with how we'll play. When you see text inside double parentheses like this, it is meta-game stuff, like GM instructions for you. Similarly, you can write short messages like this to the GMs within your posts ((inside these)) ...
The GMs will set a scene, and you will use your posts to show what your character is doing, thinking, and saying.))
IN THE BEGINNING...
...of the party, very few people were there. This was a bit of a B party, after all, and started at an unfortunately early hour - only 4 PM. But people felt compelled to go because it was in the Bunnington Academy's student gallery space, at the same time as a Mayburn opening in the same building. That meant possible money folders on the scene...
The basement room was cool with the overhead lights turned off, only a few spots pointed at student art remained active, while Lychgate was projected on the largest wall. It was a half hour into the movie, and August knew he would have to play it again during the course of the party.
The school had kicked in for some half-assed catering, as the film made them look good. Hey, see what our film students did? Much free use was made of the school's student resources during production and post.
But the disgusting, bizarre hors d'oeuvres and slightly grainy local wine were not thrilling. Courtney was trying to dissolve small pieces of diamond hard biscotti in her mouth.
August, Courtney, and Cameron were present from early, while others came in one at a time as the afternoon wore on.
Lychgate had been filmed in late spring of the previous school year (with pickups in summer), edited late summer through early fall, and released just last week. The opening night wrap party was emotional, but the subsequent parties began to feel kind of pathetic. Each happened after another showing of the film at a local University theater. This party followed the third and most poorly attended showing yet...
