I should say, I only use the 3d for dome on my big control room sets or complicated vehicles. I feel like its cheating, but sometimes making progress is better that giving up. The LHC page took me a week. It's one of my favorites! I'm a gluten for punishment.

Oh I think anything it takes man, nothing's cheating! I've used 3d very rarely, but just because I'm too lazy to do it. That one cover w/ Theodore eating the heart was 3d sourced with a posed biped and everything for the lighting, which was very helpful! I could see that coming in handy for machinery and the like, especially for cars. (The bane of my existence, ughh.) By the way, I'd love to try out one of those tablet monitors someday, they look so cool. I still use an ancient tiny little Wacom, but I'm comfortable with it. Ugh and color... that's probably where I've varied my technique the most. Seems like every page I try something a little different! Still haven't found the solid gold method yet, but I've liked some of the results. I think my next comic I'm gonna do a very limited palette, hahaha... I feel ya on the punishment gluttony, I'll never forget a page I did for a comic a couple years ago, where I drew hundreds of elaborate snowflakes on a page for hours and hours... Then I had to ink them all...

The 3d is useful, but it takes almost as much time building and lighting as it would to just draw the damn thing. At least the models and scenes go into the library of reference material for future use.
I'm really having a miserable time with color right now. Big stumbling block for me. I'm kind of in awe of what you've done with Kingfisher and hoping some of it wears off on me. Of course my comic is less moody and might be able to work with a more gaudy carnival-like color palette.
Cintiqs are incredible. If you can afford one, I'd recommend it. I'm using a 5 year old 18" version. Screen is dim and color accuracy is awful, but it is fantastic for penciling and inking.
I'm almost up to the current chapter! Was nice to see Jack finally get some Tristan action!

Hey, hello again Heartajack. Poor Jack deserved a break in there, but it didn't last long! Anyhow, thanks again for reading. Y'know, it's hard for me to imagine color done wrong*. I just like color. I did this page with ball point pens on xerox paper: www.borfy.com/Kingfisher/Pages/09-30-11.html ... Anyhow, could it be you're just being too hard on yourself? Let someone else check it out, if it's not too embarrassing. *OK, the guy who did covers for a lot of D & D products in the 80s had a fondness for rainbows that shouldn't be seen outside of Lisa Frank stickers or pride events. And everything from the 1970s seems pretty horrifying, looking back. But aside from that ...

Hello! My name is Haylee and I am an addict. Hahaha. Anyway, I'm new to the forums and figured I could introduce myself. I'm a fan of the comic, as I'm sure everyone else here is too. I thought it would be fun to chat and get more involved. Show my support to the badasses that made it all happen.

Well, Indea...unfortunately my life is pretty boring! I'm a HS drop out with a GED, and work at a convenience store selling cigs and beer to a bunch of grumps! But it's money so I won't complain further, haha. When I'm not doing that I'm either playing video games or reading epic adventures and history. How about yourself? And DKender, you go right ahead and crash this party! It makes things more interesting! How are things going for you?

Video games and reading epic adventures is nothing to sniff at! ;D I've gone through years of university and it doesn't teach you anything you can't learn yourself!
I'm a psych student but I'm moving into another more artsy field methinks like art therapy. My brain is too right sided for straight psych.

That's pretty cool. I like psychology, but I'm also too right brained to commit to something like that. I think art therapy sounds like a good choice! I'm going to be doing online college soon for medical coding or something along those lines in the next few months. It's not going to be too fun as a long term job, but I'm always into learning new things. As far as general studying though, I do it on a daily basis! My favorite thing to do is study medieval and renaissance history. NOW! As far as games go, my all time favorite is the Assassin's Creed franchise! I'm kind of sort of obsessed with it.....( I even have all the damn action figures...guilty pleasure ) I also play Skyrim, Dragon Age, anything with zombies, Dante's Inferno (love the killing sprees) and soooo many more. I wish I could play Amnesia so damn bad! I've had to resort to watching others play it online, and holy shit. Machine for Pigs is freakin scary! But a really good mod. I think you'll love it!
