@kelly - Thank you for the warm welcome! I have a tumblr - teacupprince.tumblr.com. Started it only recently so there isn't a whole bunch there...I am so rusty! I do have some fan art I have been working on so, hopefully I'll have that done soon.
@ DKender - I'm a little bit of a world traveler, I guess! I just got back from two years in China and a little bit in Japan. Still trying to figure out what to explore next.

Oh cool Eli! I dig it a lot. <3 Those are your drawings on that Tumblr? I'm impressed, very beautiful and expressive faces. Fan art you say?! I will wait with bated breath!

Hello, hello. You may have seen me around already, but here's a sort of disclaimer:
I'm diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome and OCD. It's part of the reason I must talk about animals (especially rats and farm animal rights) at some point in time because 1) us Aspies fixate like nobody else and 2) a statistically sizable percentage of female Aspies have an above average bond with animals, and sometimes we just have to save that spider. I do try my best to only speak about my deep personal interests when it's appropriate to the conversation nowadays thanks to therapy.
If I offend anyone in any way ever, tell me exactly what I did wrong because I didn't know I did it. Social behavior that most people developed when they were five I'm working on now.
How I got to this lovely webcomic and why I joined the fandom:
I enjoy the horror aesthetic and browse the web for horror content when I need my fix. It took me some time to accept gorier varieties of the genre. Although the funny thing about Wampires is I've always been a real documentary hound, and ironically the documentaries about old, rather unpleasant folklore were more fascinating to me than Dracula. I've never dug the "sexy" vampire.
I was first not sure about The Kingfisher from early chapters for reasons related to the things I just stated, but decided to give it a chance. I just so happened to dig the inclusion of one of my favorite bird species, got dragged in by the plot, and the main plot related character interactions were, and still are always the highlight for me.
Not sure if any of that made sense.

@ Kristi - You don't dig the sparkle skin??? Speaking of people who love animals: my brother! Sooo he once found a tick on his leg. Rather than kill it, Bro cut the skin around the tick's head with an exact-o knife, removed it delicately, and released the little fella. And then lyme disease. That isn't a joke: he really got lyme disease, but it was caught pretty early.
In all seriousness, I understand why you love animals. Life, in its diversity of forms, is beautiful. And it's much easier to understand animals than people, at least in my opinion. It's even easier to understand single-celled organisms, but they aren't social enough to make good company.

DKender- That's extreme nature loving right there, oh god my utmost respect and horror to cutting your skin to save a tick. Are you sure your brother isn't the reincarnation of Buddha or something? My best nature saving is putting snails back into gardens when they get on the pavement hahaha.

@ Kristi- We are animal fanatics! Especially Chris, he is a passionate birder. I really love coming up with the vampire lineages, and which are their 'spirit' animals. We tried to pick ones that are vampire-ish, or at least nocturnal, and sometimes that can get very exotic. For example, Allison's bird is the shrike, which are known for impaling small animals with sticks to kill them. So we have to know, what is your favorite bird species then??? Btw it is interesting about the 'sexy' vampire, I of course do like that aspect, but there's so much more about them. I like the ruddy-skinned corpse like vampires of Eastern Europe (Dragomir ) and the spooky Nosferatu types... (crowboys) Diversity is the best for people and vampires too!

What about the asian levitating severed heads trailing guts vampires from Malaysia? Huh, Kelly? I ask you.
We'll probably never get to introduce one of my fave late additions to the books - that Southeast Nourian vampire, Binh. She had very cool animal forms. And was a romantic interest / object of terror for Darren. What's not to love? We had too many characters and it's my fault, my fault.
Extant dinosaurs are the best animals in the world. Look at bats, they can't compete in the light of day. And have dinosaurs chasing them into the night. Example: Lots of owls eating bats, not so much of the reverse. Right?
Fave birds is tough. I like local birding, even if almost everything I see is doing well because of ecological disasters (alien species and out-of-balance natives), they're my homies. Hell, I'm doing well thanks to ecological disasters, so how can I blame pigeons?
In terms of beauty I like american kestrels and snowy owls. Also fond of egrets. I saw one at the SF zoo that just flew in out of nowhere to land in a fountain and it looked like an origami crane.
I like the cormorants that hang out in bare trees along the main bus route to downtown. And I got a tattoo of a northern flicker on my left shoulder. I'm totally rambling.

DKender Similarly I don't kill mosquitoes. If my mom didn't rid me of my tick, I may have don't the same. ;-p @kelly Old world vampires were straight up inhuman monsters, but Dragomir is pretty much the same as he was in life. He's still a "Dracula" type of vampire in my mind. Favorite bird? Hmm. I love all birds. My mom bred them when I was very, very young in our big old house. If I were to pick... Cockatiels have always really been a good match for me. Right now out of the birds at home we have two. One named Pearl is a total sweetheart, but incredibly neurotic. The other is a rescue that came from a horribly abusive home. He's brain-damaged from cigarette smoke toxins, so his movement is limited and he falls from his perch on a regular basis due to weak balance. He adores me, though, and loves me to pet his head with my nose. I also love cockatoos, since they're essentially giant cockatiels. I'd love to rescue one someday. I also love macaws, which is another good personality match for me. It's so cute how they wave with a foot by opening and closing the toes, or by raising it up and down. ;-D There was this one named Delilah at a bird sanctuary that hated all women... except me, apparently. She came over to me, talked with me, and let me pet her on the head. As for wild birds, I really love watching flocks of seagulls fly overhead and listening to them. I have particularly fond memories of watching birds on the water such as green herons, kingfishers, sandhill cranes, great herons, tree swallows, and barn swallows since I used to canoe and kayak a lot. Kea are seriously funny, I love watching crows. My mom and I once saw a crow that must have grown up in a nest near a house with a small dog, because this crow barked perfectly like a small dog! It was hilarious.

Oh, and back on the topic of arthropod rescues, when I get up early in the morning to chop up perennials, all the dew covered flowers have little, immobile dew covered bumble bees. I taken them into my hands and gently warm them up by blowing until they're able to fly away. I've once done that for, like, nine bees in a row.

@ Kristi- OMG the bees, that makes you sound like Snow White! My mother has a cockatiel that she has creatively named "Birdie", he can 'say' (whistle) "whatcha doin" and "c'mere!".
Christopher and I once saw a crow that made a noise halfway between a baby crying and a cat meowing. (It sort of sounded like it was saying "Bottle! Bottle!") Anyway, months later, we heard it again next to our house! Those guys are too smart.

@ Kristi - Piping plovers are some of the cutest, most innocuous little seabirds. When a predator or person approaches their sand nests, the mommas sometimes pretend they have a broken wing to attract attention, and then flee!
There's a bunch of grackles (I think - not so great with identification) that live near the local grocery store, and the other day some speedy guy hit one with his car. The other grackles all gathered around the body and stayed there, just walking around and looking at him (but not touching), almost like a bird funeral - they wouldn't move from the sight and held up parking lot traffic. I took some pictures, such a solemn affair.
