Ben didn't know if his arms would be strong enough, but if only one to three ghosts appeared near Seth, it seemed quite likely that thrown flares could simply miss the intended target, so it'd be handy to have backup flares to throw. So Ben lit a flare mostly for that reason. Ben- "Wow. Never thought we'd actually do it." Ben kept close to Joe so that he'd be able to hand over his flare. Joe was probably more accurate with thrown stuff, and at the very least had longer arms.
((chris edit:)) He remembered another time he'd seen long tall Joe at work...

Ashley stared in wonder, what couldn't Seth do? He was filled with anxiety. This sort of climbing thing wasn't really his specialty but he should have gone instead. Still the heroism was remarkable enough to sit in stunned silence. And Ben was a lot smarter than he had given him credit for.
He readied flares to throw just in case. This was the best solution they had, it simply should be. He watched Beau and readied himself for the moment. There could always be more and worse ahead.

The thing's thrashing blew nasty wind in people's faces. This one was different from the other arm urchins in that it was damaging itself more brutally. The hands that lined it weren't sturdy enough to hold up to this, and many were broken off or smashed beyond recognition, though enough still had grasping ability to cause a problem if someone got close, and the worse risk was being speared with several filthy jagged bones.
Seth held on to tenuous wires and bits of architecture, hoping that the flailing thing couldn't reach him. There were several more wires to get to, and the sculpture wobbled and listed strangely.
Finally, he had cut one too many wires from a given side and it violently lurched down, half of it crashing close to the floor level, then being run into by the monster.
The monster slammed into it, then jerked back the other way. Its movement was destabilized, causing it to hit areas of the room it hadn't before. It thrashed dangerously close to the homies! They had to step back and shield themselved from chunks of sharp plastic, broken metal, and bone, and the creature swept through the close debris.
Seth hurriedly tried to complete the task. Meanwhile, just as it had become difficult to do anything about it, two ghosts jerked free of the wall and started jellyfish-floating toward him!
((Flare tossin' time. Don't sweat penalties. I'll just set the difficulty high. Hm... Maybe it's time to invoke archetypes. Ben -2, Joe and Ashley +4, Patti and Becky +2.))

Throwing was definitely not Patti's forte, but she had to give it a go. She opted for an underarm, eephus style throw. It was the best she could do to maintain any accuracy and the ghosts didn't move so fast that she had to lead them very much.

Ashley hefted his flare as hard as he could at the ghosts nearby, aiming high and true to attempt to liberate the Seth from ghosts..
Ashley checked to see if there was any possible paths in the meanwhile, along the other side after the thing fell. There was no way in hell, ever, that the mummy hadn't noticed.

Sticking to his plan, Ben got closer to Joe, offering him a backup flare in case the ghosts survived the initial barrage. Ben- "Here!" They should have flare guns for this kind of deal.

Joe- "Thanks, Ben!"
Joe bullseyed one of those things, and Patti and Stevie very nearly got the other. The one-two of fiery near-misses caused the thing to shrink back into the wall!
The torches this time fell with enough fire on them to seemingly cause the thing pain, because it bucked with each flare that bounce off of it, flailing half free of the sculpture!
Ashley was nearly hit by flying debris, but kept his attention sternly on possible mummy hiding spots. No movement, still!
Seth cut another wire - three left to go, but the thing finally burst loose and came crashing down completely. The sculpture pinned the monster! With its flailing movements, it still made it unsafe to reach the exit to the street. However, for as long as it remained pinned, it was possible to reach the restroom hall - and any other kind of access doors that may be hidden back there.
Seth worked his way back to the food court floor.

Seth- Holy balls, you guys!
Becky- "Go team. Siss boom bah."
Joe- "Your enthusiasm is overwhelming. Take another torch." People quickly worked their way to the restroom hall, waving torches at restaurants passed in case any major clues jumped out at them. Each had signs of violence, but nothing noteworthy on initial examination. The monster bucked mightily, letting them know escape would be a lot more difficult if they couldn't finish this quickly.
Kyle- "Man, this shit's pretty intense."
Beau- "En effet, garçon sans sourcils!" Chou whined from Beau's backpack, just to let y'all know he was still there and still cute.

Seth- "Okay so a couple people check out the restrooms, and the rest of us should go through these restaurants. They don't have much to them, just the front and a small kitchen in the back probably. We should split up so we can get out of here quicker. Teams of two?"

Joe- "Teams of two, when the mummy could be behind door number three? I don't think so."
Seth- "Oh c'mon, it's not like he's Jason. I think he'd be in our grits with the REE REE REE music now, if he was ever gonna do it."
Stevie- "Actually, Jason would wait for us to be alone, or boning."
Seth- "Yeah so we don't go alone, we don't get Jasoned. We might have to worry about things if it's more like Scooby-Doo though... I call dibs on being Daphne."
Kyle- "Uh hey I found some stairs, maybe go up to that security room. Wanna go there first?"
Seth- "Whoa, that'd be pretty dope. Maybe we should? I don't wanna see rotten teriyaki just yet anyway."

Ben lit another flare. He didn't think he'd need it, what with everyone else having one, but conserving resources was for the less crucial missions. Ben- "Yeah, that security room sounds like a good place to check out first." And splitting up into teams of two didn't seem like a good thing, but if they only had so much time before their only exit was blocked, then that might be what they had to do. Then again, maybe there was an alternative exit, that wasn't obvious when entering the mall?

Patti made sure a new flare was quickly accessible, but chose not to light up again just yet. Patti- "Sorry Seth, but teams of two seems like a recipe for disaster. I know it will go slower, but it's far too dangerous. If the gutless boy has even one demon dead with him, two people could be dead or joined with the enemy before the rest meet back up with them."
Beau- "Joining the enemy and this, not as much a risk in day. But it does seem more than two is best."
"Hmm... yeah, let's check out the security booth."

"I agree, we should stay together and move carefully. The security booth is the best option we have right now." He agrees, and gathers his things and wits again to follow suit.

The pink flares were the only light source in the crowded narrow stairwell. Seth and Beau went first and people moved about two abreast. Before anyone could see into the room, they heard Beau's assessment. Beau- "No mummy in this room." Everyone emptied out of the stairs into the small security room. Text adventure time. You are in a room with four sides. There is only one way in and out, and only one WINDOW. On the NORTH SIDE of the room, there is a WALL CLOCK that is still ticking, and the door back to THE STAIRS. On the EAST SIDE of the room, there is a large one-way WINDOW overlooking the food court below. In front of the window are two toppled CHAIRS and two SKELETONS without arms. On the WEST SIDE of the room, there is a TABLE with some PAPERWORK in binders and such, a defunct lamp, and charging equipment for radios, with one RADIO still in place and an upright OFFICE CHAIR. On the SOUTH SIDE of the room there is one more OFFICE CHAIR and a bank of powerless CRTs hooked up to dead computers - SURVEILLANCE EQUIPMENT.
