"Oh, Wolf, it was awful, but if you ever see my date, you'll understand why I gave up meat for two and a half weeks. But I just can't imagine ... Pepsi? Gawd."

Breg looks at Wolf thoughtfully, and then shakes his head. "I enjoyed my work there. It was peaceful, until all of this. I needed the change." He rubs his cheek with one hand and sighs quietly. "...I can't believe that anyone could subsist off of soda for that long..Was he that attractive, Molly?" Breg's tone makes it hard to judge his interest level, but he seems at least politely engaged with the both of them. While not being monotone he had a kind of levelness that occasionally made reading into his responses difficult.

Molly smirked.
[/i] "You bet. Like a young Kay Francis. I've never ..." She paused suddenly, stood, and crossed the room. Molly peered at the window. It was reinforced by some iron bars, but the glass was still visible.
[/i] "Oh! Caleb drew a smiley face on the glass. I thought twelve-year-olds were beyond finger painting." She tried to wipe off the reddish smudge, but it had been drawn from the outside, not the inside.

" What?!" Wolf shot bolt upright, sending the ottoman tumbling.[/i] "Caleb did not draw smiley face on that window. Get back, now." Wolf came to the window and peeked out through the curtains.[/i] "These same faces were painted at the dentist's. I could swear I've seen them somewhere else before that even. I was pretty sure we were being watched yesterday, and I think whoever that was has come a calling." He turned around and leaned against the wall with a heavy sigh.[/i] "No need to go on full alert, the threat is too vague right now, but..." He ran upstairs.[/i]

Breg stood up quickly and went to the cabinet to get the ax and keep a rifle on hand just in case things..well, got out of hand. "...Did you hear anything, Molly?" He asked, putting a hand on his hip as he thought about it.

Molly backed away from the window."I haven't heard anything. This is very peculiar. Should we be worried about a smile on the window?" She grabbed a foot-high bronze statue from a pedestal near the TV. It was a replica of Rodin's "Eve," but Molly didn't know that; to her, the statue could have been titled "Club-Shaped Tiny Sad Woman."

There is a sharp rap on the door, RAP RAP RAP, for the second time in just a few nights. Breg frowns at the door. "Is...someone singing?" Oh willow I diiieeeeee.... Calls a disturbing, almost childish voice from the other side, apparently singing some kind of a song.

Molly bowed her head, as if resigned to fate."Let's see who it is."

"Oh, what a pretty boy!" Sister Isa notes about Jacob, the newcomer. The food she made did smell wonderful, but there was definitely a look about the old woman that seemed to suggest she wasn't all there. She smiled all the more anyways, and brought them a tray of small fruit tarts made of folded dough over canned and fresh chopped fruits, with cut potato cooked in oil and small pieces of ham mixed in. "Ah!" She remarks absently, and hands some to everyone. She had made slightly soured lemonade to provide to everyone made of fresh lemons they had picked the week previous. "Feel free to have something to eat. Isa is a great cook." He looked worriedly at the broken door, but decided that they'd deal with it later.

Jacob- "Thank you, thank you. Well, this is all very nice.... Eh, what happened here?" He followed Breg's gaze to the door.

"Two monsters burst in last night. They were possessed men. See, Wolf and young Anya - she's lovely, by the way - went scavenging for medical supplies yesterday. A demon followed them home! It attacked after dark, just awful! Would you look at this!" Molly pointed to her leg. A purplish bruise marked her back thigh, where one edge of the bookshelf struck it.
[/i] "I'm just thankful that nobody was really injured. Well, what in the world is your story, Jacob? Don't tell me you've been living on the streets until now?"

Jacob- "By demon I assume you mean a possessed guy? I don't think I've ever seen a demon outside of a human body... Sorry about that...
Well, yes, I've been living out there. Ghosts love houses, less so businesses, and even less outdoor kinda structures. I've slept mostly in cars and such, gone into houses for food. I like to think I'm helping make the world a better place. Kill a lot of monsters, help the animals...
What do you guys do?"

"Sure do. The nuns started calling possessed people 'demons,' and the term stuck." She glanced at Breg.
[/i] "Well, I've been writing a lot. The silver lining to society collapsing: there's more time to play novelist. I don't miss my nine to five. *sigh* The others are much more heroic. Both before and after ... this event. Breg was a firefighter! You never talk about that, Breg ..."

"It wasn't anything, I was just doing my job, nothing else...I was in New York. A nice place to live, I miss that kind of city life, this place was different...before...all of this." He sighs, and brushes off his shoulders with a hand. "...They're demons in people's bodies, I'm glad they can't get outside of normal people, or all of this would have been much worse."

Jacob- "If everyone does what they can, it doesn't matter if it's small stuff... Your name was? ...New York, wow. I've never been."
