((It's too late, Patti, he's gone full Cage already)) Ashley won't leap into her line of fire, but he hurries his behind down there with several well-timed, goat-like maneuvers which might be more than a little risky considering that one of the objects he carries is sharp, and the other is burning. He kept his eyes downcast, though he certainly wanted to glare at all of htem with all his might. "OVER HERE ASSHOLES."

Joe pulled up his weapon when Ashley got in front and shook his head slightly as the violence unfolded. Joe- "Yeah, we probably don't have time to chat, huh?" Ashley's moves were erratic and goofy, so awesome was his ragey rage. The disgusting fiends just stood there and mocked him, while he stabbed at them madly. He was damaging them - could probably destroy them - but they didn't seem to care much at the moment. Demon Dead One- "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *ulk* YEAH, it feels like SEX, baby! HURRRhurhurhur"
Demon Dead Two- "Cut off my titties, little monkey! GwAARGGGGGhahahahaha!"

"DIE YOU GOD DAMN SCUM! BURN IN HELL WHERE YOU BELONG!" He held his saber with two hands, and hacked at the neck of the first, Highlander style. The sword wasn't the sharpest ever, but it was sharp enough for this, perhaps. He attempted to kick the other one in the mid-chest to move it back far enough to get a good second swing in. He surprised even himself with his own ferocity.

Patti blinked. Twice.

Demon Dead One- "Woopsy daisy! WHEEEEEE!" It's neck was thick. The second one let itself be tipped like a cow and lay on its back, bent at the knees, wiggling and laughing. The second hit took off the first one's head. Joe- "Stay sharp, guy! So... Patti, I... Yuck... Hm..." Ashley started chopping up the fallen one. Demon Dead Two- "HAAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I'll See you in HEL--!!!" It fell quiet. Both corpses still wriggled impotently, but the only sound in the room was the keening and groaning of ghosts, wet jiggle sounds and meaty slapping noises from Ashley's crude butchery.

"I really hate demons." He gasped between breaths. The sweat stood out on his forehead and neck even in the light of the flares. "There are still ghosts here. Is everyone alright?" He hefted the sword, and then put it awkwardly back into its scabbard. Swordsmaster he was not, but he had a good sense of how to use the pointy end to cut things. He stared at the blank stares of the other two, and his stance shrunk inward. He almost looked sheepish. "...We...should go on."

Joe- "Yes and no. We should check this floor, go back up and check the others until we connect with the rear guard, but we shouldn't go any lower. Look at that fucking pit." The escalator to the next lower mezzanine must have extended at last beneath the surface of the street. With no windows down there, it was dark as hell. Joe, Patti, and Ashley began to move swiftly through the room, beating down or immolating anything that moved, barring doors, and more. When they reached the door to the street on the far side of the building from where they had entered, it was tempting to stroll right out, but they kept on, making some grisly discoveries...
((We're done for the night.))

Throughout the floors they could investigate, there were random places where inscrutable desecrations had taken place. Bodies were taken apart or put together in abhorrent configurations, some burned, some speared, mostly immobile, all harmless except to the psyche of the poor person that had to see them. Saws and picks and balls of twine and different tools were scattered at these sites. Sometimes random objects or body parts would be found in the middle of nowhere, and on the lowest level with any light, there were random wads and drifts of bills in large and small denominations, as if scattered by a long dead breeze. Ashley, Patti, and Joe had left scorch marks and fallen zombies amid the ruins as well, making these mezzanines very macabre places to be.
Still, nothing jumped out as possibly useful or interesting, until they noticed a lot of the streaks of blood and crud seemed to converge on one restaurant on the middle level (one below where they had come in). Joe kicked in the door and ran in, flare first. They heard him make a bit of a gagging noise as they followed him in.
The kitchen's furniture had been tossed in stacks, and corpses in varying states of decay and mutilated disarray were everywhere. Worse, there was movement in the mess. Something was flailing behind a pile of body parts at the other end of the room. Joe gestured for someone to watch the kitchen door while they waited for the flailing thing (or a PC?) to bust a move... Joe- "C'mon, c'mon..."

"whatthefuckwhatthefuckwhatthefuck..."Patti moved along the wall, gun trained on the jiggling mess on the floor. Her eyes were wide and her brow was furrowed.

Joe- "I got back." Joe realized the other warriors were too distracted by the looming menace to keep the spot secure, so he divided his attention between the front door and the door to the kitchen, freeing Patti and Ashley to fight... Whatever it was.

It sprang out of the heap, first one, then another, then another! They flailed on the floor like spastic children's toys, though the size of dogs...
They were clusters of human arms, all hewn together in some unknown fashion, like sea urchins with bloody hands at the end of each spike!

Patti took one look at the things and realized she was never gonna hit one of them with a handgun. She holstered it as fast as she could and unslung her shotgun.
She tried to channel her skeet shooting zen and opened fire on the human patchwork devils.

Everyone was deaf, like, forever.
The flash was blinding in the space previously only lit by pinkish flare light. Patti couldn't see the results of her quick work just yet through the smoke and (I presume) fell back to where Ashley and Joe stood.
The smoke hadn't cleared (no breeze), but the distance granted a different perspective - the things had stopped moving, and seemed like random shapes in a room full of horror.

Probable Ghost- "*Words you can't hear because deaf*" A bag lady stood at the door to the kitchen. Joe wasn't having it. He threw his flare at her, and it cast a few sparks as she slipped back inside - unnaturally fast, and avoiding the immolation. Joe- "*Words you can't hear because deaf*"

The three tried to communicate with lip-reading and mime for a few moments, before frustrated Joe decided to try to clear the kitchen. He let his gun hang on the strap, lit another flare, and got ready to leap into the room like an action hero. He tossed the flare, hoping to have it distract the ghost while he leapt in behind it.
Instead, something stepped in front of the doorway at the last second, and the flare bounced off its chest, hitting Ashley in the shoe, flames first. This demon dead wasn't as passive as the other ladies had been. It charged Joe. Demon Dead- "*Something you can't hear because deaf*"
