The door is mostly closed, but slightly ajar. Somebody has put a sign next to the apartment door that reads: NAT'S ROOM ~ BIRTHDAY BOY~ LEAVE CARDS HERE ~ THANKS. The handwriting is awful.
GM NOTE to Kilnarak: Is Nat in the room getting ready? Is he out partying? Is Sarah elsewhere preparing his party, or keeping him company / distracting him from surprise preparations? Whatever you'd like for those characters.

After a rather uneventful day full of feeding, walking, and cleaning up after the various animals of the complex, Nat had gone back to the room to relax for a bit. He hadn't exactly meant to take a nap, but he ended up asleep - curled up in a pile of bedding with a pair of dogs. When Nat woke up he was confused: both the room and the windows were dark, and this wasn't his room in the house in Queen Anne. It was Tony and Pepper waking up to lick his face after he stirred that reminded him of where he was and what had happened to the world outside. He ruffled the dogs' ears and then pushed them away, groaning as he sat up and peered around the dark room. Why hadn't anyone woken him? Shouldn't Alex and Sarah have been back by now? What if something had happened to them? Nat scrambled to his feet and hurried to the doorway, peering out into the hallway. "H-Hello?" It was a moment before he noticed the sign next to the door, and he squinted at it - he had forgotten his glasses. Birthday? Oh! Oh. Maybe it hadn't been a good idea to tell Alex about that... The blonde sighed, padding back into the room to look for his glasses and... see if anyone brought in any clothing while he was unconscious. He had been wearing the same set of rumpled attired for... how many days had it been? Two? It felt like much longer. Sadly, he found nothing he could use - Sarah had brought in some clothing for herself, but there was nothing of Alex's that he could borrow. Hm, maybe he could find some things out in the pile of clothing gathered the night before... [I'm running with, yeah. He fell asleeps. And people forgot to wake him up for the party. >> Since Sarah and Alex have already made appearances out thar. ]

After providing a water refill for the DJ, Patti poured out the bottom of her vodka tonic. Where the hell is the birthday boy? I know he's shy, but this is just silly. She wandered down the hall and knocked lightly on the door. "Hey, um, Nat? You in there? It's Patti." The door wasn't locked, but she didn't even consider letting herself in.

(If Nat answers the door... otherwise she will return to the game table. If Nat says anything that necessitates a reply, I'll edit it in tomorrow.)"Hey, there you are. You look like you just woke up. In fact, I think you still have some dog drool on your face. Yeah, uh, anyway, I know we haven't talked much, but I felt like I should get you something for your birthday anyway, what with all hell breaking loose and all." Patti reached into her cargo pocket and produced a full Costco package of AA batteries. "I found these downstairs. I figure you can take what you need first, then gift the rest to the power gurus or the supply shack. Anyway, happy birthday, make what you can of it." She handed the batteries to Nat, paused momentarily for any forthcoming reply, then returned to the game table.

Sarah- "Hey, Nat! We, um, I... are you in here?" She took out a key chain light and flashed it around the room.

The knock at the door set the two french bulldogs to barking and prancing about the door. It was a moment before Nat was able to shoo them away and answer. He seemed a bit confused to find Patti there. Was something wrong? Was she here to tell him something terrible had happened to his missing roommates? "W-what's wro- Oh! Oh, um, th-thanks- thank you. I didn't expect- um. Th-Thanks Patti. I'll, um, I'll be out there in-in a moment." He smiled shyly as she handed over her gift, and waved as she left to return to the party. Now, if only he had something to use the batteries in! But maybe he should just hang onto two, and offer the rest to the group? Well, he could deal with figuring that out later. He set the batteries on top of his satchel, and then moved toward the door again. He would just have to deal with his slept-in clothing, for now - he was fairly certain he'd have to go through the festivities to get to the clothing piles, anyway. Just as he was opening the door to step out, however, Sarah was also moving to come in. The two blondes collided in the doorway, Nat being jabbed in the chest with a key-chain flashlight. Nat put out his hands to keep from falling, catching ahold of Sarah's shoulders. "S-Sarah! Hey, um, sorry. I was... I was just coming out." Tony and Pepper took this as an excuse to dance around the humans' feet, yipping happily. Sarah looked a bit flustered, so Nat took his hands away from her shoulders, backing up a pace. He was sure he looked just as out-of-sorts, and he smiled awkwardly at her. "I'm glad, um, well, I was a bit worried, when no one was here..." [ Eep! Edited to include Sarah. I'll move him to one of the main threads, after this. ]

Pepper- Sarah- "Whuf, snuffle." "Oh, I'm sorry. Haha... Yep, I'm here and the party's out there. Let's go!"
