Hi everyone, thought I'd start a new music thread since I know a lot of people, (me included) are music lovers. I think anything goes, just post what you like, or list out your favorite albums... As for me, the handy lil thing on last.fm informs me to say this piece of pasted information... "I'm into post-punk, electronic, new wave, 80s and punk, including: Morrissey, The Smiths, Joy Division, Bauhaus, The Cure, Close Lobsters, The Monochrome Set, The Knife, Cocteau Twins, Nirvana, Fad Gadget, Ladytron, Echo & the Bunnymen, Orange Juice, Wire, McCarthy, Zeigeist, David Bowie, Dead Kennedys, The Dead Milkmen, Pixies, Grauzone, Josef K, Yelle, T. Rex, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, Fever Ray, Beck, Tom Waits, The Doors, Gary Numan, Soft Cell, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Stooges, The Glove, Misfits, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Shonen Knife, The June Brides, Magazine, Buzzcocks, Goldfrapp, The Polish Ambassador, Akira Yamaoka, Ramones, Garbage, Scars, Portishead, Rammstein" Pretty cool. Not listed there, but I also love '80s-'90s hip-hop & rap and my favorite is Ol' Dirty. I also love cheesy oldies, surf music, weird goth shits, bossa nova, French new wave, classic heavy metal ala Dio/Judas Priest... etc etc forever.

Here is a video of a song that is constantly in my head lately. I love these guys, I made Christopher listen to their record too much.

Prime Directive: Exterminate the whole human race!
I used the "Paste your taste" feature on Last.fm, and I find I don't remember some of this stuff at all. I edit the list... Wait, now I remember those guys. Still, the list seems a little funky. Probably have bad file names keeping my fave stuff from being recorded right...
"I'm into rock, alternative, 80s, metal and post-punk, including: They Might Be Giants, The Dead Milkmen, Television Personalities, The Cure, Nirvana, Rammstein, Close Lobsters, Danzig, Desperate Bicycles, Judas Priest, Yellow Machinegun, Misfits, X-Ray Spex, Wire, Joy Division, The Undertones, Echo & the Bunnymen, Alice in Chains, Fad Gadget, McCarthy, Björk, Morrissey, The Smiths, The Stooges, Clutch, Akira Yamaoka, Butthole Surfers, Motörhead, Pixies, Small Faces, Mother Love Bone, Orange Juice, Cypress Hill, Yelle, Roots Manuva, Malaria!, Hieroglyphics, Magazine, The Knife, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Nine Inch Nails, The Mighty Lemon Drops, The Dentists, The Slits, The Sugarcubes, A Perfect Circle, Built To Spill, Bauhaus, Depeche Mode.
Yeah where the hell was The Monochrome set in all that? Guess I haven't listened to them in a while, but still... And in a different vein, Sepultura and Deicide. And when I'm in the right mood, hiphop and rap was completely left off that list. Digital Underground, ODB, Wu-tang Clan, Biggie Smalls, NWA, Ice Cube, Technotronic, Bel Biv DeVoe, ... and I've been listening to some big gay music like Bonnie Tyler and Madonna a bit. And something I liked after the band was kaput but before they were cool: The Moldy Peaches. And... Guess I should sort out these mp3s and get my shits straight.

Looking at the list, the stuff I have the most affection for at this exact moment, in no particular order: Yellow Machinegun, Television Personalities, Desperate Bicycles, X-Ray Spex, Joy Division, The Stooges, & Orange Juice. I hadn't heard any of those until Kelly either played them for me, or happened to play them while I was around, so Thanks Kelly!

No problem honey. I think you only have problems with yr last.fm because you've only scrobbled like 5,000 things. I've scrobbled 50k, gosh. Plus my file names are IMPECCABLE!

Did anyone see the London opening games for the Olympics? I didn't see all of it only the end part, but my friend did and she said i should have watched it cause all my songs were being played, that being said i LOVE david Bowie!! i died when they played 'Heros'! thats like one of my favorite songs of all time! On a different note i also love Lady Gaga! yes i freaking LOVE her and i don't care what anyone has to say! she is an artist!
I also love The Killers, Kid Cudi, Lana Del Rey (though her SNL song was the absolute WORST! i still love her), Florence and the Machine, Nicki Minaj, The Beatles, Gym Class Heros, Marina and the Diamonds, the Distillers, The Limousines, Miranda Lambert and many more!
I mostly like all kinds of music, i really do! Rap, Country, pop, rock, 'alternative', indie
I hate it when people say they do too and i when i ask them who's there favorite country band they look at me like i'm an alien! Country is music too! >_<

My 'taste' in music if you can call it that is rather... odd. I remember being 12 and getting my first two cds: Mozart and Madonna (the Erotica album). Needless to say, I seem to be like a ball of clay rolling along picking up my friend's style of music to say the least. I have a thing for Annie Lennox. Bjork less than three forever. But otherwise, I usually stay away from particular artists and enjoy music for itself. A song that made me think a LOT of the whole Jack and Tomasz scenario was a song by VAST called "Pretty when you cry." Not saying it's true to the scene, but it 'could' be going through Tomasz' head... at least in my mind. It's kind of like a running theme for me right now in any event. And I'm forum challenged because I can't get the youtube vid to play...

Cooool, oh my gosh I love hearing about people's music tastes. I am weirdly behind the times and mostly stuck in a time before I was even born, haha. Good recommendations all! Do any of you guys use Spotify or some other kind of service? I like making playlists, maybe we could share music with each other somehow but I am too old to understand these things. HALP!
@ Suyoi - for me at least, you can use the "[youtube]" BB code to imbed, but you could always paste a link too if you find a hot track. --or do you mean the vids don't play? Wouldn't surprise me with this beastly forum, guh, ugh.

My cousin looks like Dave Gahan so hard, it's funny. I mock him on Facebook. But honestly, I'd still prefer to be Dave Gahan to this chap, haha.

@kelly you should definitely check out VASt-Pretty when you cry. I think you will like it a lot, it actually reminds me of the way Minchin works. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOZ6ptqcbUc

"Only started listening to stuff about a year ago" Haha, now that's a bigger tell about your age than anything. Yeah, I had like three tapes and two of them were Weird Al, then around 14 I went looking for stimulation from stuff outside my experience, and ended up a hard rock dude. Now I'm all old and new music looks terrible to me. Get off my lawn, kids! For a short time in my twenties, I'd use Antichrist Superstar to lull myself to sleep every night.
