Seth seemed a little ill, but managed to keep his attention up long enough to survive the meeting. Marie did most of the talking, followed by Thierry and Seth. Ione and Chantelle weren't present, Ben seemed helpful, and Stevie didn't have much to say. There were other topics of interest - more work to be done analyzing news info and making a new "big map" - but that was just organized and put off for later, mostly. The main thing was the Pan-Pac issue.
On that issue, the initial reaction to Ben's idea wasn't the warmest. Stevie liked it, others suggested it was premature, and even if the prisoner thing turned out to be true, it could provoke worse conflict. Regarding the non-lethal weapons, Seth didn't see the point, actually favoring appropriate force (guns if they use guns etc.). Thierry said that whole line of thought represented the failure of diplomacy, or some such frenchiness.
Eventually it was decided to not do anything today, giving them time to cool their heels, and then send an envoy tomorrow to - at minimum - deliver a message about having talks, and - at best - to have a bit of discussion with them and hopefully glean some intel. Thierry was pretty convincing that the envoys should go unarmed, to minimize strife and because in that environment, running away would be an equal or superior defense to returning gun fire. On the way out, there were lots of angles and cars to hide yourself behind, and sticking around to fight unquestionably increased your odds of getting killed.
Thierry and Seth nominated themselves for envoys and were dissuaded (Seth because he's the president, Thierry because his last trip didn't go very well). People figured Ash should go since he was familiar to them, but someone else should do most of the talking. Seth followed up by nominating Davin - leadership experience, fitness, and serious attitude - opening the floor for other nominations, and also suggested asking Jalil's enclave if they wanted to be involved.
Whatever was decided, it was clear this envoy situation would only be the beginning of dealing with them, and they needed to find out what the new people knew - as far as they were willing to say. Marie had suggested those people visit Emmett both with their mental health in mind, and with that intelligence as a goal, so it seemed that was being taken care of.

"I'll be happy to go, but I am not sure if they will be warm to me. At the very least I know them reasonably well." He replies simply. "I would be happy to go with someone else, and I think they might be better at diplomacy than I am." He was pretty well limited to ordering people to stand down, but that wasn't much of a diplomatic solution. He felt uncomfortable about going unarmed, but maybe it was for the best.

I'll want to hear from Patti before we call the meeting done, because I'm not sure if going unarmed sounds suicidal to her, even with Thierry's tactical reasoning. Does she say something?

"You may be right that going armed is just asking for a gunfight. That said, I'm worried about the possibility that they don't let the envoys return. They may be putting up a front of civilization, but that doesn't mean they won't turn in a second if they think they've been caught in a lie. At least, the envoys should go with vests if we can find some and we should have some armed people outside the building to cover a hasty retreat if it becomes necessary. Shotguns aren't effective for covering retreating people, so it will have to be handguns, which would be ideal, since they could be carried concealed and the Pan Pac goons won't think we're out to get them."

Most people figured that Pan-Pac would definitely be expecting concealed weapons, and that the gunmen, if any, should just be hiding outside somewhere. Bullet-proof vests also seemed likely to cause alarm, but that seemed pointless to consider because they don't have any. If Patti and Ashley know they're planning to do the police station run today, but don't want to vet it with the council, they'd probably let that point drop for now.
Anyhow, meeting adjourned, Seth met Bryce and went downstairs for a haircut, and others did other things, until the fight broke out in the comm center...

Patti would say nothing and try to stop Ash from saying anything. She didn't think vests would cause undue alarm, being entirely defensive in nature, she also never said anything about carrying concealed weapons INTO the Pan Pac where they would be detected. Still, she was sure nobody here wanted to debate it with her, so she let it go. Later, she will insist that Ash wear a vest under whatever when he goes.

Zoe- "Hello, mister."
Beau- " 'Allo young lady! Is Ms. Marie in?"
Zoe- "Lemme check onter availabiliddy." Frank and Chou snuffed at each other and made crazy faces, and shortly, Beau was inside. Marie was working on the big map. Marie- "Hey, it's the man of the hour. Ready to make your contributions?"
Beau- "Certainly I am. Maps are good for me. Do we have a deal, if I 'elp with this, I can be your humble student? 'Zere is so much I do not know."
Marie- "It's no problem, but I wonder what it is you think you can do with this information that we cannot. You seem... Well, you can explain yourself or not."
Beau- "Well... To be honest, I may leave soon. I would like to come back to share what I find, but I feel finding 'ze mummy is most important to me. I would like to find good places to look. Before I just walk around, it is not a good method."
Zoe- "I don't understand you at all, mister."
Marie- "Well, we'll hate to see you go... I'm not sure what I think of any of this - the heroics, the campaigning, the Reconquista, if you will... People like you and Seth...
Here's a pencil. Show me on the map the places you've been since this began."
Beau- "Yes m'aam."
Beau marked the main drag of the University district, all the way to the edge of Capitol Hill. He then traced a path through Wallingford, Fremont, and Ballard, then across the water to lower QueenAnne, and all the way to 403. Beau- "I see much of University, fairly quick through Fremont, it is complete wreckage of cars. I spend longer time in Ballard, and go to look at the bridge. I don't see Aurora bridge, but Ballard and Fremont bridge are inaccessible."
Marie- "Now mark all the places you can remember seeing les ballons, with Xs..." Marie and Beau, knowing he seemed likely to leave soon, made the most of the day. They pushed him to the limit, trying to remember every useful thing about the monsters, places, and people he'd seen, and in return he pushed himself even farther, transcribing or memorizing everything he could from the news station intel. A plan began to come together in his mind... Beau- "So... most likely place this began, is the Columbia Tower? The tallest building in Seattle. It make sense. I wonder how they do it?"
Marie- "I think people that played a lot of video games and watched a lot of horror movies have a better handle on this than I do. Ben said they might have opened a portal to another world in that building - that the ghosts were coming out of something like that. If that's true... Is the portal still open?"
Beau- "Hmm... 'zis would be a good thing to find out. Perhaps I go there first. Though... I imagine if I were mummy, I would put such a thing on the very top."
Marie- "You saw the video. If that's from a portal, and the portal is still open, you'll be able to tell without going into the building. And you won't be able to go in and come out alive."
Beau- "True. Seems simple enough. Marie... I must admit, I like to imagine if I kill mummy, it will help. I know now, is hopeless optimism. 'Zere are too many, killing one will not help. 'Owever, perhaps if I find one, I can capture it. Do you imagine at all, 'zis could be possible?"
Marie- "... No. If you find one, you might be able to kill it - say, if you trapped it in a building and started a fire with a powerful accelerant... I don't know. But capturing something that could do all of this..." She gestured at the map. "It seems very unlikely."
Beau- "Mmm it is true, no doubt. I wish I was more of a fighter."
Marie- "The French navy trains people for low self esteem rather than combat?"
Beau- "Well, I shouldn't imagine I will run into mummy by chance. I 'ope to return soon. Thank you Marie, one day I should like to take you sailing."
Marie- "Oh, you devil."

Ashley appears in Marie's room, looking tired and generally poorly rested. He crosses his arms as he seats himself, and though there isn't a lot of expression to be seen, there is an air of misery about him.

"Of course. I trust your judgement. I got a bunch of bullet proof vests. I want you to wear it. For your safety." He says, in a way that is almost gentle. He seems off for some reason.

Thierry- "Oh, I'll be staying home on this one. Recall last time they didn't seem to like my diplomatic stylings. As soon as the others get here, we'll discuss the armor more.
By the way, I was told a bit about your raid on the police station, but not straight from someone who was there. How do you feel about it? Was it worth the risk? I heard it was touch and go."
