Colt- "Just like mom. What a chip."

Edmund- ”Timothy isn’t responsible for the trauma visited on him by his mother, it left him with extremely poor coping mechanisms as shown by what happened here. Continue.””

I stood on the far side of the doctor from Mr. Mills. So far I didn't see any red flags. Maybe we might get through this thing anyway.

Detective Butcher- "Yeah. Maybe we can work on his... coping later. So after he tore up some of the toys, he must've come in downstairs and let in the dog. So... the dog..." He gestured for the group to go downstairs again. Of course, one could linger up here if they felt so inclined.

I followed closely behind like gum on a shoe.Edmund- ”Was that the first animal you’ve killed , Timothy?”

Colt- "..."
I didn't want to think about the shrink's new line of questioning. I stayed close to the core as people went back downstairs.

I returned to the upstairs reluctantly. Jesus let this be the last time I set foot in this place.
Colt- "Straight ahead, the master bedroom, right?"
I went in.

Detective Butcher- "That's right. Can't miss it..." He stayed back in the hall to help shepherd everyone along. Those that entered the bedroom found a nearly empty room. Just a bed frame, a few bits of detritus on the floor, and the aforementioned wardrobe. It really was hard to miss-- a light glowed from inside it, the only light in the room. It was about six feet tall, lifted up on tall legs and quite deep. Very easily enough room for a child to fit, maybe even an adult. Inside and out, it was painted with blobby white paint. Probably just cheap latex, it clogged up any of the ornate carving on the exterior, 3-dimensional drips hung in suspended animation.

I walked into the room, I wasn’t keen to meet ‘grandma’ either. Hopefully Mills would join us soon.Edmund- ”This must be very hard for you, Joseph. He isn’t making it any easier. Are you holding up?”

He took a deep breath. Detective Butcher- "Doing better. Got a little hot under the collar for a minute there. So I'm thinking if he doesn't come up after a minute, we just open and close the door and tell him we did it. What do you think? God, this is like dealing with my nieces."

I realized we had no entourage anymore.
Colt- "I don't know what I was expecting."
I said it to myself more than anything, then looked to the wardrobe o' magic. Last look. Fuck that thing. I'm not even going to dignify it with a perusal. I pondered opening the window for a bit of fresh air, but I knew it would be humid and grisly out there.

Detective Butcher- "Will do."
He entered the bedroom and gave a nod to Colt.
"Think that lawyer's gonna twist this no matter what we do..."
