Harriet- "I guess discovery itself and finding the pieces is thrilling, but we're usually there when everything is said and done. And sometimes, well, it's not really exciting, it's just...cut and dry. It's rare we have a lot of true mysteries honestly. Most people who commit crimes, well, they don't really think through what they do. Anyways, it isn't really adrenaline-sort of work usually." In fact I'd say it's probably one of the least physically intensive jobs. I mostly well...Analysis, I suppose, that's the best way to put it. It isn't really dangerous.

Detective Rodriguez- "*Sigh* Oh mysteries. That's what we all loved as a kid, the idea that you could solve the crimes and bring justice to all. I wish it was so easy, just work on each case until there's a neat answer and the credits roll. You ever go back and check up on any cases? I used to do that a lot, now I think I've learned my lesson."

Harriet- "I just find what we can to try to keep the innocent out of jail, and bring the guilty to justice, but often times, there's just not enough to close a case. Things resolve unfairly. I don't want to be dour but the whole world is unfair, people just don't see it clearly enough." Or only recognize it in hind sight. Too little too late. After the punishment was dealt, the man was found innocent. Too much innocent blood spilled. Or justice miscarried. It made me angry enough I didn't want to dwell on it.

Detective Rodriguez- "Yeah, you're right. No need to get into that stuff. And hey, this one, we got the likely suspect right here. We solve this last mystery, it's as closed as a case gets. Then we can all move on with our lives." He didn't sound like he believed himself. At last you came to a quickly forming blockade at the end of the block, and you were waved through. ((Would you like to add onto this or are you ready to move on?))

I reach over and pat his shoulder in reassurance. I can't think of much more to say. There's not a lot to make light of in these matters.
