Gerald - "You should know that your safety is my responsibility. If you ever have any concerns I want you to be vocal about them, alright?"

Timothy- "Sure, great." He nodded and tried to smile, but it came off unbelievably phony, like a child acting in a school play. He swiftly went back into the previous blank look and neutral position.

((Sure.))
Timothy was cagey and weird, but pliant. He'd get up when you asked and shuffle along with a strange, unreadable expression. The transport van was waiting for you. How did you feel and what did you do as you led the guy along and got him secured into the van?

Anyone as noncombative as Timothy made my job easier. You never know if that's how things will continue to work out, but you can't complain.
After a photo comparison to identify the inmate and I had him appropriately restrained I joined Officer Milton in the passenger seat.

Officer Milton sat stiff in the driver's seat, but seemed to be driving perfectly fine. She kept glancing in the rearview mirror.Officer Milton- "Everything go okay?" Rain hammered on the van's hood like little fists. Timothy seemed to be watching it run down the glass. The sky was a cold grey, the shadows already deep and blue and it wasn't long past lunch.

Gerald - "Yeah, everything's good." Fran was usually less rigid. I wondered what was on her mind.

Officer Milton- "That's good. Too bad you have to be out there in all of this. Don't catch a cold." Timothy's head was turned your way, his eyes scanning every detail of the van. His lips were moving, but his voice was muffled by the security glass. You'd need to flip on the speaker to hear but maybe he was just talking to himself.

I flipped on the speaker just to be sure it wasn't something important.

He was mumbling, and the sound of the rain and the noise of the engine made it difficult to hear, but you made out a bit.Timothy- "It's empty now. There's nothing in it. They took it away..." And so forth. Not really a mantra, more like he was trying to have a hushed phone conversation. His hands were tightly cuffed and he was just gazing off at the empty seat.
