∆§Indea§∆Hey Indea, we can discuss your character here until we iron out all the details, then I'll archive this and we'll move onto your solo storyline! So, can you tell me what ideas you have off the bat? The only requirements I have at the moment is that your character is no younger then late 20s, more likely 30s/40s. They can be from Detroit, or coming in from out of town. Something to consider is how they got this chance. Did they pull some favors, or did they have some kind of specialty that made them the best candidate?

◊◊BLOODBEASTER◊◊That’s super lucky. I was thinking actually mid 40’s/50. Going for the cliche male white psychologist. I like the idea of having pulled favors like the attorney or judge is a client or relative of a client. Totally unethical. He would have a background in forensic psychology and has had criminal clients before but nothing this notorious.

Sounds great so far. I'll get you some more info about what he would know at this point, but I don't want to spoil the others as your guy will know more than most of them. Suffice to say, there was a lot of attention paid to this murder due to a rather shockingly cruel circumstance, as well as the fact that a young victim is still currently missing. There are some very strange details about the case that will certainly tickle that morbid curiosity. I don't want to get into stats/skills just yet, but maybe you can consider what his strengths/weaknesses are. If he pulled some favors, that probably means he's a pretty charismatic guy. Also... I'd like if you can find/make an avatar for him! We won't use them for dialog like we normally do, but just put on top of the post to help identify everyone. I think standard square format but I can help u w/ that as you like.

Yeah charismatic, intuitive, smart, shallow, physically weak/ unfit, bad eyesight. Has a nack for staring meaningfully while thinking of mundane things. Looks like a 45 year old Gabriel Brynes. goo.gl/images/awrk9i

Heheh, sounds perfect. So where does our psychologist live? Is he from around town or has he traveled here? This city, and particularly this neighborhood, is desolate and impoverished. It's one of the most polluted places in the country, and the air is known to induce dry heaves. More than a quarter of the population lives under the poverty line and the average income is 2/3 of the nation's average. There are more affluent areas in the state, but he'd probably be commuting pretty far. How does he feel about this place?

He definitely lives in a more affluent part of the state and commutes to Detroit because he thinks it makes him seem charitable and giving. He keeps a practice in his home town too to pay the bills and travels down and stays in a swanky hotel. He has a puffer and uses it liberally while in the city. Smokes cigars occasionally though. He would be very vague about his lifestyle to those he deems less fortunate as to appear approachable. He isn’t a fan of the city but if you asked he’d say it has deep character.

Sounds great, definitely something he can pat himself on the back about. What about this book he plans to work on? Has he started it, or even published other books? Maybe it just seems like the thing one should do, or that he'd really rather be a Dr. Phil style celeb psychologist, or he'd rather just be a true-crime author to begin with.
By the way, you don't have to answer this all immediately, it can just be food for thought.

He has written other books but none have been particularly successful outside of professional circles. He’s looking to break into a wider market. He’s been writing about it since the murders started so he’s pretty pleased with this big break.
He wants to write true crime books al la Truman Capote. He is driven more by money/success. His wife brings home most of the bacon and so it’s somewhat competitive.

Ah, interesting. You mention his wife, what's his home life like? Is his wife impressed by his magnanimity? Outside of his job, what's he like? Does he have any kids, any close friends? Does he have a book club to impress? This is too many questions in a row?

Dr. Edmund Bassett is his name.
His home life is relatively good. His wife tends to be the one person who busts his chops when it comes to his real motives. They’re both pretty busy though so they don’t see much of each other but it works. Their teenage daughter tends to suffer from the neglect though and is often in trouble at school mostly for not showing up.
He has a few colleagues and frenemies/rivals. He has a weekly golf game he’s terrible at. He’s friendly enough outside of work though really he doesn’t have much life outside of it. He probably knows his clients better than he knows people inside his own life.

How does he relate to his patients? He seems relatively average, (For his income bracket!) How does he feel about the problems of others, especially those that are extreme and alien to his own experience? What are some dramatic cases he's had to deal with, and how did they affect him?

The world loves mediocrity. He tends to use a Fruedian technique so a lot of delving into meaning, childhood and repressed desires/ thoughts/emotions. He gives a calm aura and his clients tend to trust him. He’s not above telling people what they want to hear. He does zone out sometimes but he records everything. He’s had no complaints or ethics put into question. A lot of his wealth comes from his wife’s work. So whether he’s good or not isn’t really in question. She’s funded his private practice etc. His wealthier clients are mostly bored housewives or troubled teens. He’s worked mostly with blue collar crimes, a few on assault charges, drugs, vehicular manslaughter. The gnarliest was a guy who murdered another man over a drug deal. He wasn’t too disturbed by this, he has a high threshold of resilience. This is his first full on murderer however. He has a morbid curiosity though which draws him to theseto these characters.
Have I missed anything important?

Nope, sounds good so far! How do you think he's preparing himself for this case? It's only gotten more sensationalized by this point, maybe the cops going with you are going to be irate and police brutal-iting on the guy. What will it be like talking to a potential cold-blooded murderer? The accused man seemed to think he was inacting a bizarre ritual when he was first apprehended, now he has no memory of the crime and insists he had nothing to do with it, despite being caught covered in the victim's blood. You'll only have a brief time to talk to the accused before your outing, what kind of questions do you think he'll prepare?

Definitely getting all the information he can on the case. Sparing no details. He’ll research rituals and different psychological reasons for engaging in them and associated murders. He would definitely note down all the rumors for his book. He’ll also be interested in this guys background and family life. He’d want to know firstly from the guy what he does remember and know, what he was doing before. He’ll definitely do his best to come access like he believes the guy’s story but he’ll probe. He’ll try to be sensitive to the guy and treat him like any client.
What do you remember most about that night? What are your religious beliefs? Do you remember what the ritual was for? How does all this make you feel? Have you ever performed rituals with small animals? Etc.
