Detroit, Michigan--
A city in decay. Desolate houses, dilapidated city blocks, and rusting industries all drenched in snowy grit, chilling rain, and icy winds off the Great Lakes. Formerly the hub of North America’s auto industry, the city is now in serious decline. The population has dwindled from 2 million to 700,000 in only a few decades. In the central regions, there are empty and abandoned skyscrapers; in the surrounding areas, many of the houses lie desolate.
Entire neighborhoods have been swallowed up by urban decay, left forgotten and fallow. The population is poor and desperate. Crime thrives, not just the crimes of necessity, but crimes of staggering cruelty. On the bright side, it keeps you employed.

Halloween, 2010.
It's been raining badly. Water seems to leak through every seam, seeping into houses, soaking into your car interior, and you don't have a pair of shoes that aren't damp and squishy.
No one's been in the mood for holiday cheer; it's just another round of malicious mischief. There are far more tricks than treats this year. And as such, you find yourself summoned to the Livernois Police Station. Remember those horrific murders back in August? No, the other ones. Late August... That's the one. The one with the boy who is still missing. He's probably dead but the killer wouldn't say. Wouldn't even confess to the other murders while he was caught drenched in blood with the knife in his hand. Well now he's ready to talk. Maybe he'll finally confess and reveal what happened to the missing boy. You are going to accompany him as he's walked through the scenes of his former crimes. This will surely be a great opportunity for you. The big story, a best-selling true-crime novel, a promotion, a fat paycheck, maybe even saving a kid's life... But you'll have to make him talk first.

This year I'd like to play a heavily modified Kult: Divinity Lost module with you all. Kult is a game about supernatural horror and the It's a little bit different from how we usually play but I'm excited to show you the system and learning it together. In this game, you will be choosing one of several roles to play. You have freedom to design most things about your character, (with GM approval.) I'd like to open a conversation with you about your character, and I can help with stats and skills or you can take more control if you like.
I'll give you more information once you've decided on a role. Don't feel too pressed if you don't know much about the occupation beyond some Law & Order reruns. This is a game for fun, not a homework assignment, so we aren't going to ding you for inaccuracies.
