(Oh, I know Ashley is incredibly stubborn, but I think this is the first time Ben found out how crazy the man is. )tab Ben was confused. tab "Don't we have to first go down there to where the others will go, and then get out of there, making zombies down there follow us up here? If we just stay up here, where the others aren't planning to go, we could've just stayed inside. No point in distracting zombies who are already out of the way." (It's possible that I've misunderstood things, and that what Ben was planning is impossible, or unnecessary. I don't really know how fast these shamblers move, how many of them there really are, how far they see, how quickly they react. I'm not even 100% sure I know which building is the 403 one on the Google map: Is it the one north or south of the Westlake/Harrison intersection?)

((Haha, OK, Geographical confusion is an inevitability since our 403 is fictional and its location doesn't even make sense, so let's just forget real life for a second and observe diagram of Terry, the street I'm imagining our guys to be on-
NORTH -Mercer construction, an open chain link fence to who knows what? -a bunch of zombies, probably former employees or contractors for Amazon. -a length of street with slightly fewer zombies -intersection where stands our Ben & Sonya (&Ashley?) -length of street with very few zombies -Denny wall o' cars -Cornish SOUTH
What Sonya assumes is that the returning party may be coming from the south, so drawing zombies north, east, or west is the ideal. West would take them to Westlake, which is another possible way the heroes may come back, so East or North looks best.
Problem is that zombies are pretty slow and if you just jet East, a lot left behind may forget you were even there. So she wants to run toward the crowd of northerly zombies, make sure they're following, then go somewhere else from there. Maybe into the construction site, maybe cut across Amazon's campus east, maybe head out to Westlake, but far enough north to still be useful to the returners.
Whatchu think?))

((Now I'm thinking that there was no need for any zombie-distraction whatsoever, because both south Terry and north Westlake seems to be relatively clear, and that was the path that Patti said that the rescuers planned to take on their way back. I assumed that they would've left a bunch of zombies milling around on Denny, near Cornish, and those were the ones that would be helpful to distract. I mean, didn't they run down there just a few minutes ago, in Ben-time? Which was also why I figured he'd have plenty of time to don his armour, since they'd be busy inside Cornish while he'd make it down there, and therefore he could've distracted zombies from the north as the rescuers would be heading back from the south. Though that would have required timing without actually being able to coordinate, so it wasn't Ben's goal, really. He just figured that since Seth said that they'd be running without fighting zombies, zombies would gather behind them, follow them, and then be blocking their return to some extent, since they tend to stick around for few minutes or so. And apparently there wasn't much time, so perhaps the rescuers wouldn't have time to wait for those zombies to disperse.)) tab "Maybe we shouldn't have come out here? It doesn't look like there are a lot of zombies where the others will be running. I guess we could do what you say, and run past those zombies up there, and then get back to the alley over the north barricade? At least then we won't have made things worse."

Sonya- "It could be good practice. Oh, so gross!" A zombie got close enough to pay attention to. Sonya looked at its blood-streaked business casual and torn-up face with vague alarm, and gave it the ol' one-two. The reach on her club was just long enough to get over the ex-human's grasp without too much risk. It slumped at her feet. Sonya- "Let's go! " She began jogging toward the mass of zombies in the near distance, exciting them even more, while shooting glances at Ben to make sure they kept pace with each other.

tab Ben ran along, trying to preserve his breath, but considering the short distance they planned on going, he wasn't overly concerned with exhaustion. Sonya was right though. This would be good practice. Both the moving and the proximity to the zombies. No better way to learn how they move and how to handle them up close than to actually be out there and do it. tab Suddenly Ben noticed a zombie that was moving quite a bit quicker than the others. Not running, but... Dammit! Was that Amazon-zombie speed walking? That could not be allowed. It completely messed up their tactics. Ben raised his bokken and prepared himself. The speed walker's movements were a bit jerky and erratic, but it easily outpaced the crowd, and as it got close enough, Ben quickly stepped forward. With a short but loud cry he brought the hardwood blade down onto the zombies forehead, smashing into it with a satisfying crunch. Ben just barely managed to avoid the body as it fell to the ground. Eeew.

Sonya- "Good job, Ben! It was too fast walker. Maybe it does fitness like Patti?" It was unnerving to see her in the midst of the zombies, but it was what they were trying to do. Four of the things were within ten feet of her, lurching and creeping like Thriller with no rhythm. Little chunks wiggled on their ragged frames.
She hopped lightly on her feet, not bothering to kill anything she could outrun. Suddenly she changed direction, running toward an Amazon building, smacking a piece of sheet metal signage loudly, then running back. Sonya- "ZOOoomm-BEE!!! COME TO GET IT!"

Sonya- "Good job, Ben! It was too fast walker. Maybe it does fitness like Patti?"
Ben- "Yeah... Yeah, maybe. Or maybe..." Ben caught his breath. "Maybe it was working in a warehouse. Amazon is brutal. They know how many seconds it takes to go pick something up, and if you're too slow too often, you're fired." She hopped lightly on her feet, not bothering to kill anything she could outrun. Suddenly she changed direction, running toward an Amazon building, smacking a piece of sheet metal signage loudly, then running back. Sonya- "ZOOoomm-BEE!!! COME TO GET IT!"
tab Ben looked around at the buildings and wondered if they were filled with zombies, who might be attracted to noise and then come out into the streets. That might not be what they wanted. Or maybe it was? Empty the buildings as much as possible so that they could explore them and see if they could use them as zombie traps? He still wanted to set some well thought-out plans into motion, because this spur-of-the-moment action had shown him that all you had to do was step out into an intersection, and suddenly you had to 'think fast'. tab An empty plastic bag drifted lazily along the street, and Ben stuck his bokken inside it and started to wave it around in the air. It made a bit of noise to go with the visible stimulus, but Ben had a feeling that it was completely unnecessary at this point. It just felt better than waving the naked bokken in the air. How well did these zombies see anyway? tab "Come on, then! You there in the back too!"

BEN AND SONYA lured the zombies toward Westlake on Republican! Go to WESTLAKE - THE STREETS to describe any further action!ASHLEY, PATTI, AND BASIL! The barrier was poked at, then opened, by a team returning from a restaurant run. But wait, there were some unexpected faces coming inside the barricade! Davin- "Come on, fellas. It's safe in here."
Col. Teddy- "God damn it, sir, I ... I hope so!"
Wil- "Take it easy dad!"
Jackson- "Food express comin' through."
Tyrone- "Ugh. I lef' a mess out thera, hope nobody mind."
Basil- "Davin, I say! Who the devil are this lot?"
Davin- "It's Colonel Teddy and his family! Remember? We passed them in the stairs on the way up to Anna's place."
Basil- "Indeed! Well, where did you find them?"
Davin- "Our job went real easy and we noticed whoever was signed up for that building with survivors, well, hadn't gotten around to it. Figured we'd knock it off while we were out...
Eh, Patti? Other guy? What are you guys all doing down here?" AWWWWW SNAP!!!

Ashley- "More survivors, and the rescue run has returned." He shifts his posture, and goes to help them get through the barrier. "..Does anyone need help?" He asks, seeming a little resigned. He had just spent a good while staring into the gray sky afterall. "These men seem unfamiliar." He remarks at the newcomers. The newcomers see Patti, Ashley, and Basil as more reassurance they have arrived at civilization, and look appreciative. You notice the first group, that arrived with Davin's boys, looks pretty green around the gills. Col. Teddy- "God damn, man, this fort better be more secure than this alley, or we'd be better off staying where we were."
Unfamiliar guy- "You crazy bastard, we didn't have any food!"
Col. Teddy- "I'll brook no insubordination!"
OK, one of them wasn't very gracious.

Alex abruptly stopped chatting when they reached 403 and met a welcoming party. Was that the colonel's family? Uh oh. It sure was. Alex realized, with acute embarrassment, that he was wearing a pair of track pants commandeered - no, don't mince words, STOLEN - from the colonel's apartment (they belonged to his son, most likely). They were reeeally nice pants: navy blue, with a cool reflective stripe down each leg. The pair probably cost sixty bucks. And, just his luck, Ashley the POLICE officer was there. Alex looked between Ash and the colonel's son with poorly concealed guilt. Maybe nobody would notice! But the sin would still haunt him ... Wil- "..."

Micah slouched past the newcomers, more people? They needed to start culling their mouths not increasing. At least their group from the art school were reasonably attractive, these guys weren't even good-looking enough for radio. Micah realised that yet again he had met new people covered in blood, this entire fucking apocalypse, when was he going have a chance to make an unbloody impression on someone? He just wanted to collapse on the couch with E.R, he hoped there wouldn't be too many questions as to what happened. Nora- "Thank you Micah! I'll see you 'round. right?"

Ashley covered their entrance to make sure they got within the confines safely, and everything goes smoothly. He'd ask the names of all the newcomers for whatever reason, and seems to be intently focused on his task at hand, as menial as it is.

Ashley tried to ask the names of the newcomers, but he only got as far as Col. Teddy, his son Wil, Wil's fiancee Kaya, and Monty (the guy what was sassing on Col. Teddy), before the chaos of the Cornish bunch made individual conversation impossible.Seth- "Well everybody, we got to get to the clinic. It's just on this floor. We'll get you checked out." Wil- "You've got a clinic? A doctor?" Seth- "Yeah, just inside. We got two doctors, actually... I'm Seth, the leader of the building here. Guess y'all are a new bunch, too?" Wil- "Thank you so much! We really need to see a doctor, especially Kaya." Seth- "Well I'm glad we found ya! Let's get inside." Everybody who's anybody went to the clinic for some old-fashioned gawkin' and talkin'. Ben and Sonya came up on the group just as it was disappearing inside. Away to the clinic!
