{Trins Life Update, yo.}So last night and today, while I type this, has been pretty hectic. My mother is going through some.. stuff with my stepdad, and last night was probably the worst night I've experienced in a long time. Even right now some stuff is going on outside.
I wont go into what because frankly, its a HUGE story, but there's the possibility I'll be moving to another town in my state. I don't want to jump that far ahead just yet, but if it gets to that point I'll let you know. As of right now it's just getting harder and harder for my mom to afford where we currently live. I'll keep you guys informed.
Keep me in your thoughts, pray for me if that's your thing, It would mean a lot.

Kristi is prescribed skeletons - Thank you, I really appreciate it. @peeps - I don't think we'll move anytime soon, my mom always says she wouldn't do that until after I graduated, but with the stuff going on here she keeps bringing it up more and more. Good news is that things are very slowly settling down, but honestly you could cut the tension here with a knife.

My family is getting foods made for Sunday family get-together. I have many, many, many towels to laundry. I'll probably watch something while I'm laundering.

It goes okonomiyak-ally. Not really, I just wanted to adverb that noun.

The one time I had that served at my table, they did the thing with the shredded seaweed so it looks like it's alive and wiggling - something to do with heat or moisture I dunno. It was wacky and gourmet, but not my kind of dish. What kinda stuff have you eaten in your voyages? To avoid funky class feels just use language less like Robin Leach and more like Rachel Ray, plus don't say "authentic" like a person must travel to shangri-la in order to eat sushi or else they shouldn't bother, and probably omit details of where u were outside of the name.
& kreesty- whutchu watchin?

I'm trying out an Australian dramedy called Rake. It's about a criminal defense lawyer that specializes in taking on impossible-to-win cases.
Some Googling tells me there also happened to be a U.S. version by the same people, but I rarely watch remakes of anything and am likely to leave that be. Fury Road may be a technical exception that makes the rule, though that film floats in continuity ambiguity, and I wouldn't have seen it if my sister wasn't totally into going.

I watched the US Rake until it was cancelled. I liked it. But I liked the US version of Wilfred more than the Aussie version. It was more "artsy"/"indie film" stylistically which appealed to me.
TRIGGER ALERT FOR CARNIVORE TALK TRIGGER ALERT FOR CLASS STUFF (TRAVEL AND OPINIONIZING)
I'm not an adventurous eater at all. You mentioned seaweed: I loathe seaweed. Too salty and reminds of the smell of Puget Sound beaches. So not a lot to report there. I did not try the fried beef with red tree ant sauce. I have not been anywhere where I was offered insects. I had a soup in Cambodia I think had chicken intestines in it. Neither of us liked yak (stringy, flabby, and unpleasant taste). We bought Marissa's sister and father some camel milk chocolate but we did not try it.
India and some parts of China use WAY too much oil for me (I've seen dishes with a 3mm deep oil slick on top) or also include hacked up bone fragments. One place there was equal portions of bone fragments to actual protein (including tendon and cartilage) in most dishes with some having more like 75% bone fragments.
Singapore has a LOT of toast restaurants, but we only tried one (cinnamon sugar toast just like we made as kids).
In India they make crispy corn (corn niblets dusted with corn flour and flash fried), but usually only at the Chinese or vague "Asian multicuisine" places. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else in Asia however.
Safe to say Cantonese is my fave Asian cuisine so far. Noodles and dumplings, yum.
Kebabs in Turkey were delish. Go google Turkish ice cream. Watch a video result first, then read the explanation on Wikipedia. More remarkable in texture than flavor.
Best thing I've had anywhere was at the "world's cheapest Michelin starred restaurant" (like $10-16 per person): a baked barbecue pork bun. Not the typical steamed pork bun you get in the US, but more like a "pineapple bun" (had to put that in quotes because those don't actually contain pineapple despite their name). Best I can describe the bun part is like a delicious, fluffy, Southern buttermilk biscuit had a baby with a pecan sandie cookie.

I guess seaweed is a love-it-or-hate-it kinda edible, but the texture and flavor just say "comfort food" to me (especially in hot soup).

CARNIVORY
i had a yak dumpling in seattle - tasted same as its kin to me, but that was minced, so textural issues would be reduced. man if u don't like cartilage, don't eat sea urchin. it is basically made out of cartilage and nothing else. toast restaurants? what damfoolery. it's a fine food but such a ridiculous "concept" restaurant idea. re: the sandwich, where was that?
kristy - not sure why fury road gets mentioned beside remakes. seaweed is fine tho. i prefer it on sushi, still ain't into okonomiyaki.
